Rescue
“You’re what?” Ron asked Hiaro puzzled. His mind seemed to be wrapped in some sort of fog. He shook his head to clear it, and gazed at the man who for almost a year now had been his friend and confidant. “Hiaro that avenger person is still out there, he’s picking off order members as we speak. It’s clear he’s on the hunt for us. As Shodan of your people its wiser that you stay here.” He didn’t want anything to happen to Hiaro, and he had the feeling that if he went out there something would.
Hiaro’s eyes darkened a little and he crossed his arm over his chest. “Yes it is probably wiser, but it is not necessarily the right thing to do. I need to see for my own eyes the state of my people; I can not sit in the shadows any longer. What kind of man would I be if I sat in safety while those I loved suffered?”
“A smart one! Look it’s not a question of you’re bravery, but if you die out there what good will you do to your people. You will rob them of their hope…” If he was honest Hiaro’s people were the last people on his mind. All he could think about was sitting here in this castle and never seeing him again. And worse feeling his death as it happened. What would it be like to wake and never see his face again?
When he needed a shoulder to lean on Harry would be there, he never doubted that. And Harry’s comfort meant no less to him then Hiaro’s it was just…different. He didn’t want to dive too deep into the difference right now but the thought of not having Hiaro anymore robbed him of something vital. He didn’t know when Hiaro had become so all important to his state of mind. Probably that first time he had felt the burning and cried out into the night in agony. He had thrashed in his bed and a warm hand had slid into his hand.
“You’d rob me of my hope; I can’t do this without you” he whispered. Hiaro looked a little startled by this declaration at first, and Ron was slightly worried that he had come off sounding…well that way. Luckily Hiaro either didn’t notice or didn’t mind because a warm light spread in the coldness of his eyes.
Ron was glad for that because it was true, startlingly true. Why? Hiaro was a friend, like Harry was a friend. If Harry died it would hurt like hell. He didn’t think a part of him would ever be whole again, but he would live on wouldn’t he? He would preserver, like he had done when Ginny and the Twins had died. He thought about them everyday and still felt the pain but he lived on. So why did it feel as if, that if Hiaro died it would rock the foundation of his soul.
He didn’t want to think about it too deeply, it could be a number of reasons. One of which he wasn’t even going to consider. Hiaro was his support his stability, loosing that would scare anyone. Hiaro had stepped closer and he was uncrossing his arms. He placed both hands on Ron’s shoulders. Ron felt a wave of warmth enter his body; till he would have sworn he was being burned by the older mans touch.
“When are you ever going to learn that you are much stronger then you seem to think you are? You could very well make it without me.” Hiaro sighed, he looked sad for a moment then he smiled down at him.
What would it be like to never see that smile again? To never watch the planes of that pale beautiful face move with each expression. It was oddly fascinating. When the pain came back and he reached out for a hand it would be somebody else’s. Comforting but not…not what? What was wrong with him? What did he want?
He knew what he wanted; he wanted Hiaro to stay where it was safe! He could feel a surge of anger and desperation boiling in the pit of his stomach.
“That’s where you’re wrong! Hiaro don’t be stupid, it’s not easy for any of us to just sit here. The danger is very real! What will the girl you love say when you tell her! Think about her if you don’t care what I feel.” He snapped. He didn’t know why that thought made him angry.
Hiaro watched him with something like amusement in his eyes, which just made Ron angrier. There was nothing funny about any of this!
“I imagine she would react much the same as you are.” Hiaro chuckled.
“This isn’t funny! Why are you laughing?” Ron demanded.
The smile slipped from Hiaro’s face, “Because I think about her all the time. She is all I can think about and the longer I stay here the more I realize she is never going to feel the same for me. I’m ok with that; I have made my peace with it. But I refuse to feel so empty and useless. If I cannot have the person I love, or help my own people what is there left for me? Do not ask me to allow myself to become hallowed and empty. I shall do something for the people I love because it is all I can do!”
This couldn’t be happing he wouldn’t let it! Damn the woman he loved to hell, what was wrong with her. Couldn’t she see what she was giving up? What kind of person rebuked the kind of love that Hiaro offered?
“What’s her name Hiaro? I swear I’ll tear apart this castle looking for her. How stupid can she be, I’ll knock some sense into her, just don’t throw yourself into danger over a stupid girl who cant see what’s right in front of her” He pleaded.
Hiaro’s hands left his shoulders and one hand brushed the side of his cheek, a thrill of sensation buzzed across his skin. All he was aware of however was the warmth and sadness in Hiaro’s eyes. Again they were lighting with that sad amusement.
“It saddens me to know that you will never realize just how funny that statement is. You worry too much. I will be fine.” Hiaro whispered, their faces were so close Ron could see every line of weariness on it. He wanted to reach out and smooth away everyone, to erase the forming frown lines around his mouth. Ron’s eyes fell onto the plush lips of his friend. Lips made for kissing, for giving warmth, lips that if you let them could rob you of your soul and the will to resist.
Ron rocked on his feet as Hiaro abruptly let him go and turned to stride towards the door. A waving sense of desperation engulfed him. He felt panic rising in his stomach like a tidal wave. He couldn’t let him go, he had to do something. Anything.
“STOP! As your king I forbid it!” Ron winced turning pale. As soon as he said it he regretted it. Hiaro hated the Miraza`, he knew well his friends feeling on the subject of kings using their power to shape the minds of people. It was a low blow, and he would see it as a betrayal. Hiaro stopped in his tracks like he’d been shot. He turned slowly to face Ron.
He was trembling, he didn’t want Hiaro to be angry at him, he never meant to hurt him he just didn’t want him to go. To his surprise there wasn’t any anger on Hiaro’s face when he faced him. There was pain and edginess to be sure but no anger.
“I would ask that you take that back, for my sake alone. I can’t do it Ron; I can’t sit here and feel like this any longer. I will fallow the will of my king but I ask that you unlike your predecessor; consider my feelings and well being before commanding me.”
Ron stared at him in shock, Hiaro would fallow his orders? Hiaro? He had expected him to tell him where he could stick his orders and their friendship. He had not expected this. If he didn’t take it back that meant Hiaro would stay, and he would be safe. It would be the end of their friendship. Hiaro would never fallow a king who didn’t consider his own wishes. It would only prove everything he felt about kings and leaders to be true.
“Go then. Just come back. Please.” He hated this female condition. One minute he felt like screaming with rage, the next he felt like weeping. He wished to hell that he was himself again, cause then he wouldn’t feel like this. He wouldn’t need Hiaro so much. He wouldn’t want to beg him to stay and kiss the pain from him his face. The foundation of everything he thought he was would not be crumbling.
A smile, a sad one but brilliant none the less appeared on Hirao’s face. “I was right, and I thank you.” And then staring directly at him something of meaning swimming in his eyes. Hiaro bowed to him.
And then he was gone.
~~~~***~~~~*** Change of view~~~~****~~~
Harry knelt in the garden he glanced up at Severus, Sirius and Draco. “You ready?” He asked all of them.
“More then, let’s go.” Sirius replied a bit impatiently. Draco nodded and Snape just glared at him.
Harry rolled his eyes, more of the same old. He concentrated and instantly he felt his body and his mind alter he was lost in a rush of power and sensation. He was fae again, and he turned to smile at his mate. He was forever going to be drawn to his golden beauty to the very heat that was him. The garden around them swirled and spiked in Malice towards a being of fire in its midst.
Oh stop it!
Instantly sensing his will the atmosphere quitted. Still the eyes fallowed. Sirius eyed Draco with amusement. “You don’t have many friends here do you?”
“They are beings of nature they fear me, fire is naturally their enemy I do not hold it against them. I would fear that which was stronger then me as well” Draco replied with amused arrogance.
“We are the very earth itself we fear nothing. Is it not true that even after you destroy us something new grows from the ashes?” Harry reminded him. He could feel the anger of the beings in the garden swirl around him. He shared it a little. Fire and Earth warred against each other in the natural way of things. This was the first time in the fae’s history that they had tried to unite.
Sirius glanced around and shivered, “Harry do you have any idea what you have done, this place is a portal. I can practically feel it jumping in my blood stream. I feel that if I took two steps I would definitely not be in Kansas anymore.”
A small smile appeared on Harry’s lips. “And you wouldn’t be. This is my domain I have connected it to my home land. You would risk death to enter without me.” His emerald eyes full of power glanced at Severus. “If you ever seek your own death mortal simply come into my garden without me. The beings within would destroy you.”
Snape sneered at him, “you would really kill me and spare Sirius wouldn’t you?”
Harry smiled with alien elegance. “It is no feelings of mine that influence the earth fae. No mortal is allowed to enter our realm. As their lord I can clear the way for you, but I have to be present. Sirius is different he has the blood of air fae, curiosity alone would buy him some time. Beside’s the air brings earth rain our life force, we respect them. As long as he didn’t make any wrong moves he stands a chance of surviving, I simply do not advise it.”
Sirius` eyes widened in fascination “Are you saying Harry that trough this garden you can enter the realm of the fae!”
“Yes, Even though you didn’t wish to tell me about your dreams Draco I am connected to you. I know that Slyfer has order you to return at some point to the realm. I have been preparing.” Harry replied.
Snape, “Not that this isn’t fascinating but we have friends that need us? What does this have to do with anything?”
“Much too impatient mortal. The garden is not solely a connection to the fairy realm. Through it I can reach any point on earth. I was warning you not to try this without me or Draco present. You are correct though, the time to move is now.” Harry replied. Then he touched his fingers to the earth and began searching for his friends.
”We will talk later Harry of your tampering with portals and space without telling me!” Draco’s voice hissed inside his mind. It spread a sensuous powerful rush of heat through his body.
“I expected so.”
There he felt, it. Hermione’s feet were touching earth. He felt her blood being swallowed by the earth. It called to him guided him.
“I have a direction. Let’s go.”
The garden seemed to abrupt in a heady pulsing sensation. Reality and perception wavered. The earth itself seemed to spin and crack in on itself. The sky above them wavered and darken the horizon changing and reshaping.
All around them rose a fairy song.
~~~~***~~~~**~~~~***~~~****~~~~**~~
Hermione lay on the ground and touched a hand to her head. It came away red. She shivered in pain and fear and rose to her feet. This had all gone so terribly wrong, she had lost track of Lee. She felt a spurt of panic enter her as her cage door opened and she was being grabbed by a tall man in black robes. He leered down at her, “She’s perfect. Come with me pretty.” He oozed.
She fought to get away from him, and received a blow to her back from a club for her efforts. The breath from her lungs was driven from her body and she went limp. “She has spirit all the better for taming.” He laughed at the group of people accompanying him. She was thrown into a line of two other slaves. “Three is what my wife wanted, wasn’t it?” The man pondered to himself. One of his attendants nodded. Hermione glanced at the two others. They were all young women terrified and meek. She felt a roll of disgust go through her. She had an idea of what she would face as this mans slave. She trembled.
“Come along my pretties, to the buying tables.” He gestured for his attendants to bring them along. Hermione was forced along; her eyes darted around for any possible way of escape.
A flash of brown caught her eye. “Lee!” he was being pulled along behind a man and his wife. She received a lash from a whip for her outburst, but his head snapped up and their eyes met. Then Lee’s eyes shifted to something on her left and his expression grew furious. Hermione glance to where he was staring. Gabriella was being dragged from her cage by her hair by a teenage boy. His parents looked on in fond amusement. Some attendants held older and stronger slaves but it appeared they felt their son could handle a nine year old little girl.
She was screaming for Lupins help, and for her brother. Hermione’s eyes darted around and she spotted Remus in a cage not to far from Gabriella’s. He was straining against his bars shouting for them to stop. She herself was being pushed father and father away from the scene. Then there was the sound of a patrol man screaming in rage. She saw a flash of blonde hair and robes. Simon!
He had broken free of his guard, the man bellowing in rage. There was blood running down both their faces. Simon wrenched his sister from the teenagers grasp. She toppled to the ground and stared up with fear and wonder at her brother. Hermione winced; his brief breakaway would cost him. A volley of hex’s and whips came down on him and he cashed to the ground twitching and screaming with pain.
“Scum! I’ll teach you to hit me!” The guard cursed. He heaved the whip back and forth.
“Stop it!” Gabriella screamed. And then the earth shook. There was a flash of golden light and a deep throbbing sound. Hermione clasped her hands over her ears. They threatened to bleed with its strange power.
“Yes please do” a voice spoke from above. Her eyes snapped to the dais in the center of the room. She gapped. It was Harry! With Draco, Sirius and Snape standing beside him.
Both Harry and Draco were in their fae forms, strange and utterly alien in their features surrounded by pure waves of power. Harry’s wings were tucked to his back his bow indrawn as if he did not expect any trouble from the mortals below him.
Gasps of wonder and fear filled the crowd and for the first time in its creation the Slave pits were utterly deathly silent. Hermione shivered, she could feel the anger of the fae like a cord wrapping around her neck. Harry stepped off the elevated dais and his wings opened. He fluttered to the ground and walked amongst the slaves and buyers with a cutting age of danger. Everyone shrank back from him, as if being so near caused them pain.
Draco opened his own great black wings and soared across the crowd. A scream of collective fear roared across them. When he landed on top of Remu’s cage there was silence again. The cage door sung open and Remus stumbled out. Hermione felt her own chains snap and looked down in amazement. Her body shimmered and she cried out with shock, she and the others were now standing on the dais. Harry and Draco were still amongst the crowd.
“You torch the flesh and seer the bone. The blood of the innocent you force my earth to drink. You shall die for your transgression. This place of depravity shall sink into the earth to receive fires judgment. Only the innocent shall not be touched.” Draco’s voice was so powerful it spread a lance of pain in her entire body. She heard moans and cries of pain resonate through the crowd.
The earth began to rumble, a scream of terror welled up in the crowed as it rocked and cracked and molten fire spewed from the ground to devour anything and anyone in its path. The earth roared and shook in on itself. Everyone in the room was going to die.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING!” Hermione demanded in desperation. The screams rose in pitch as the smell of death rose in the air.
“Anyone innocent down there does not have to fear the fire.” She winced in pain at the feel of Draco’s voice in her head. And then the world was rolling and shimmering, that deep pulsing beat sweeping them away.

The Avenger moved like a shadow in the streets of Shoja. He could feel his prey, he knew that he was near. He had been fallowing Shijo since he left the castle. To his delight this time the young Shodan had decided to accompany him. Fred felt a rush of adrenaline enter his body. He would kill two today, battle two at once a new challenge. His brain buzzed with a roaring noise. He could scent blood and fear clinging to his body.
He was fast changing, his eyes glowed an eerie red. This morning he had killed without order. The need for blood, the rage had overtaken him as he had tried once again to reach his brother. As the empty hole of his life swallowed him and drove him further into madness. He raised his face to the morning sky, his robes were still coated in the blood of the two young men, Shojian villagers. Out in the early morning, out at the wrong time.
It coated his face, it drenched his hands. It wasn’t enough. He threw back his head and laughed at the morning. His mind weaved in waves of pain and rolled. Never enough….Never enough…
~Why do you stay away from me, I can feel you George…WHY ARENT YOU HERE!~
It was never enough! Blood rained from the sky, his brother’s blood. Coating his body still hot from his brother’s life. He could feel him there just beyond his reach. If he shed enough blood he could refill his body.
The sickness was rising engulfing him, all that was good had died festering in his madness.
NEVER ENOUGH!!!
“We must get back to the castle; we have lingered too long my liege.” Shijo’s voice. Just around the corner. He smiled to himself; the old man could feel it. He knew that they were both about to meet their doom.
A sea of lonely brokenness a servant to the demon rising inside him. His human side was lost in a sea of rage. He could hear the beating of both their heats. The blood moving in their veins. Inside their bodies safe in whole, while his brothers rained down from the sky to coat him in it’s hell.
“NO!! WHERE ARE YOU? WHY DON’T YOU ANSWER?” He was a blur of motion coming up from behind them both, his wand drawn. He forgot using a spell entirely. He pulled the dagger from his waist and tore!
A spray of blood a sea of blood. Coating his hands drenching his face, it splattered his lips till he felt he was drinking it.
“SHIJO” He heard the young mans cry of pain and shock. He tore into the old mans flesh over and over again. Never enough, the blood was never enough. Nothing would be enough. A sob of pain tore through his throat till he cried out in anguish.
~ Stop! Please stop! Please…please…~ it was her. The woman from before. She was inside his head invading his mind. He thrashed back and forth driving it away.
He could see a flash of steel heading towards him. He moved out of the way, not fast enough to ovoid it biting into his skin. He barely felt any of it. He had drawn his own wand and sent a curse flying towards the Shodan. It hit him in the chest and he fell to the ground withering in pain.
~STOP! PLEASE~ She pleaded he could feel her horror and her tears. He wanted too...oh god he wanted to stop. He wanted to die...
~help me...oh...god please help me...~
There was no turning back the demon in him had woken. Open up your hate and bask in it. His fevered mind was boiling with rage. He thrust his dagger into smooth warm skin and felt the blood of the Shodan spray onto his hands. It didn’t ease the rage or the depravity.
Never enough. None of it was enough.
There was a flash of blue electric light and someone was screaming at him. A flash of red and steel and he could feel the bite of a sword enter his chest.
A/N: oops cliff hanger. Split this chapter into two parts. Thought I might cutt off at an interesting point. Who's the flash of red and steel? *cookies to any one who gets it,*. How's our little rescuer going to handel this? Is Hiaro dead? *gasp* Well Shijo's looking pretty down isn't he? Thanks again everybody. You rock my socks off, you dont realise how much it means to me your words...*tears* *laughs* Anyway. I love hearing from all of you. God bless.
Hiaro’s eyes darkened a little and he crossed his arm over his chest. “Yes it is probably wiser, but it is not necessarily the right thing to do. The garden seemed to abrupt in a heady pulsing sensation. Reality and perception wavered. The earth itself seemed to spin and crack in on itself. The sky above them wavered and darken the horizon changing and reshaping.
All around them rose a fairy song.
