Chapter 24: Finding Out The Whole Truth

            When Lily and
Remus appeared in the entrance hall he let her look around a bit. The sound of students
eating their lunch could be heard and Lily longed to see that place again, but Remus
told her to stay put and he went inside. A few moments later Professor Dumbledore
appeared and greeted her.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Welcome
back to Hogwarts,” he said. “Why don’t we go up to my office.

Lily smiled warmly at him.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “That would
be nice,” she said, glad for another friendly face.

            She followed
him up to his office, Remus behind her, and when they entered his office he closed
the door and took his seat behind his desk. He invited both Remus and Lily to sit
and they did so.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “I hope
your trip from St. Mungo was well,” he said.

Lily nodded.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Would you
like a lemon drop?”

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “No thank,”
Lily said tartly. “The reason why I’m here is because I’ve heard some horrible things
about my son and I want to see him so that I can find out the truth.”

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Okay.”

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “I heard
that he has been giving Severus’s wife grief, is that true?”

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Yes,” Dumbledore
said. “He doesn’t approve of the marriage and he’s not alone. A lot of students
don’t approve of what was allowed, but Hermione is a grown witch and she can do
whatever she wants.”

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “And do
you feel the same?” she asked.

Dumbledore shook his head.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “I’m pleased
that Severus has found someone,” he said. “And speaking of Severus, do you know
where he’s at?”

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “No.”

He looked at her intently.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Albus,
I’m not in the mood for this,” Lily snapped. “I want to see Harry and I want to
see him now.”

She looked down at her feet so that Dumbledore couldn’t sift
through her memories. She heard him get up and then leave.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “He sure
wants to know a lot of what Severus is doing?” Remus said.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “I know
and that’s what scares me.”

            Harry left the
Great Hall and headed up to his Advance Defense Against
the Dark Arts class. As he made it to the second floor he heard the voice of the
Headmaster calling to him. He walked over and looked at the old wizard.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “I need
to speak to you for a moment,” he said.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Sure.”

Harry followed him back to his office and when he entered Harry
saw that Dumbledore wasn’t alone.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Remus lets
come back later,” Dumbledore told him.

Remus nodded and then left.

When the door closed the other person stood up. Harry gasped
when he saw that it was his mother.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Harry,”
she called out.

He fainted.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “How do
you expect him to take the news?” Professor McGonagall said. “He sees a woman that
is supposed to be dead. I would faint too.”

Lily watched as McGonagall revived him and handed him his glasses.
He put them on.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Mr. Potter,
come over here and sit down,” she told him gently.

He slowly got up and followed him, looking a little lost.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Is he going
to be alright?” Lily asked.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Of course,”
McGonagall said. “He’s just a little shocked, that’s all.”

McGonagall then gave him something and soon he looked a lot claimer.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “I’ll leave
you alone,” she said.

And McGonagall left.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Harry,”
Lily said.

Harry didn’t look at her.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Harry,
I’m sorry if I left you, but I’m back.”

Harry was silent and Lily knew this wasn’t good. It showed that
he had been through a lot and he didn’t trust anyone.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Harry,
I’ve been hearing something’s about you and I just want to ask you if it’s true.”

Again silence.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Harry,
I heard that you hate Severus and Hermione’s marriage, is that true?”

That got Harry’s attention.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “He’s got
her under some kind of spell,” Harry blurted out. “He’s a nasty old man that has
a young wife. She would have done better with Ron.”

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Harry,
Ron rapped your friend.”

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “No he didn’t,”
Harry said. “Hermione is making that up.”

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “She didn’t
look like it to me.”

Harry stood up.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “You got
no idea what Snape is like,” Harry snapped. “He wants power and he’ll do whatever
he can to get it. Even marry my best friend but she’s to blinded by suppose love
to know the difference.”

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “That’s
not the Severus that I know of,” Lily countered.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “Well the
Snape that you knew and the one that’s here isn’t the same person,” Harry said.

Lily sighed and faced him.

 style='mso-spacerun:yes'>  “No, he
is the same person,” Lily said. ‘Too bad you can’t tell the difference. And for
your information, I’m supporting them.”

And she left Harry alone.
