Harry hated how almost every single person in the Wizarding Word saw him as, and forced the title, or hero onto him. He really wasn't. He was just a boy, now a man, forced into the role when a crazy woman foresaw what was going to happen and a madman believed those words she spoke.
Ever since then, Harry had been hounded by press and Witches and Wizards either wanting him to marry them or to marry their children.
During school he didn't have peace either because of everyone either loving and harassing him, or hating and harassing him.
He thought it would stay like that until Fourth year when he really met Cedric for the first time. Cedric didn't care what everyone was saying about him and would often join him in the Room of Requirement to comfort him or just sit with him in silence when something happened.
Harry was leaning against Cedric after a hard day of everyone glaring, sneering, and yelling at him about being attention seeking and lying about what he had done and Cedric had his arm wrapped around Harry's shoulder just holding him.
“I knew a lot of people turn on me at the click of a switch but I never thought that my own so called friends would as well.”
“They don't deserve you.” Cedric said, honestly.
“Why are you here with me and not out there with them listening to what they all say?”
“Because you're their hero, but to me you're my friend and I don't listen to what others say about my friends.”
Smiling, Harry whispered, “Thank you.”
“No thanks needed, Harry. Just don't ever change. Don't allow them to change you because of how they react.”
Years later, as he sat snuggled up to Cedric's side, fiddling with the wedding ring on his finger, Harry was glad there was one person that saw him as just Harry and not a hero.
