Chapter Twenty-Five
“A quiet well-behaved boy is likely to be both frightened and ambitious.” Mason Cooley.

The walk back to the castle hadn’t been fun.
Harry’s legs felt as if someone had cursed him and then tied weights to his feet. His stomach was hurting from the awkward position he’d been in when he fell asleep. And he was frightened that Snape was going to have a real go at him once they were safe. So the journey was undertaken in a silence colder than the weather.
He entered the Room of Requirement and sank gratefully down on one of the comfy chairs in the living room. He groaned softly. Severus paced the room like a caged beast.
At last the silence was broken by an agonised, “Why?” from the older man.
Harry rubbed his forehead, trying to ease the tension headache starting there. He explained his motives for leaving the apartment, trying to make it sound more important than it what it had been – a whim. He also tried valiantly to point out that he had ensured his protection.
“With an ancient map?” Snape was incredulous.
“Hey! That map is brilliant! It allowed you to find me, didn’t it?”
Severus had paused in his pacing, now he began again. His hands were held tightly behind his back, fingers clenched. There was a tautness about his face that hinted at the worry and panic he had felt during those moments when he had been unable to find Harry.
“All right,” Harry admitted, “I was stupid. I’m sorry, Sev, ok?”
Severus walked over to the map and peered at it. “Why do we not appear on this thing?”
Harry sighed and got awkwardly to his feet. He limped a little. “It’s ‘cos we’re in here. This room is unplottable – that’s one thing we asked for right? Somewhere safe? So we won’t show on here. But it works for everywhere else in Hogwarts.”
“So,” Snape spoke slowly, “in future I can always know where you are?”
Shit! I knew there was a reason why I shouldn’t have let him see the map!
Harry nodded, and in answer to the next question explained how to make the map work.

Harry sat in their apartment, quietly mulling over what had happened that day. He understood Severus’ panic, but not its intensity.
Maybe he really does care about me. He thought. He seemed really worried, not just about Hamlet, but about me too.
That’s all very well, but how do I feel about him?
Since his declaration (to Ron) of possible love for Severus Harry had considered his feelings for the older man. He knew he didn’t want Snape to leave them. He knew he relied upon the other to protect him and Hamlet. He also knew that the thought of the Slytherin going back to any Death Eater meetings frightened him.
Is that love? I always thought love was needing a person with your whole soul, not being able to live without them. This thing we have isn’t that. I want him to have sex with me. I want him to be with me and look after me, but if he did have to leave us, I think I’d cope. Wouldn’t I?
Wouldn’t I?

Sitting in the library, Draco Malfoy hid behind a large book as he hid his fear. It had been pure chance that he had left a lesson to use the bathroom, and had decided to take a de-tour via the hidden room. He had spent the day searching in the room, completely neglecting any studies, but it had been no good. He had simply not been able to find it. Now he feared what the Dark Lord would do if he learned of this latest set back. Draco determined to miss more lessons and see if he could gain admission to the room on the morrow.
“He really shouldn’t have gone wondering off, Ron, Harry could’ve ended up in real danger. It’s just lucky that Snape found him when he did.” Draco listened to the Mudblood’s words, wondering.
“I know, Hermione,” (that was the Weasel) “But he’s been in that blasted room for months now. No wonder he wanted to get out.”
Draco’s eyes gleamed. So that was why he had had trouble getting into the Room of Requirement – it was already in use, except for today when Potty wee Potter had gone off. He listened closely.
“Well, at least it won’t happen again.” (Draco bit back a groan) “Not now Snape has got the map.”
“I wish I’d been there when he explained it, ‘Mione,” the Weasel-King said, sounding rueful, “but you know I had that detention with Trelawney.”
“I’m really not surprised since you told her you had seen two men fucking when you looked at your tea leaves.”
Ron had told Hermione all about his disasterous lesson earlier in the day, making the other giggle.
“But I bet she had some dark prediction instead?” she queried.
“Yeah, she said it was ‘the Lightning Struck Tower’ whatever that is.”
“And,” Hermione took over from the red head, “no doubt it meant danger and death for one H Potter?”
“Yep.”
Draco was getting bored. As interesting as it was to listen to two jerks discuss their lessons, he had things he needed to do – like contact the Dark Lord and somehow convince Potter to go wandering again.
He was about to stand when the Mudblood’s next words arrested his movement. “Have you noticed how big Harry is? I wouldn’t be surprised if he was carrying twins.”
-- It wasn't til I was half way through this chapter that I realised the quotation fit two characters! Yay me!
(HARRY: Bloody hell woman! SNAPE: (still reading chapter) TWINS?! HARRY: What? Oh shit! I can't have twins! SP: *cruel chuckle* Don't you worry guys!)
