Chapter XXV: Bloody Dagger

Chapter XXV: Bloody Dagger

09/26/1996
Two hours before dawn, Hera knocked on Voldemort’s door desperately. She had run to his bedroom all the way from hers, which was two flights of stairs above, and she still hadn’t caught her breath when the skeletal figure of her Master opened with his wand in hand. As soon as he saw her, he kneeled and asked, ‘What is it? What have you seen?’

She took a big breath, her hands shaking, and opened her mouth to speak the words ‘It has to be done… right now…’ Though it was barely a whisper, he heard her perfectly. She breathed again and added, ‘Dumbledore knows where they are. He has a seer too.’

‘Trelawney…’, he grunted in disbelief.

‘Y-yes… that was… the name he mentioned. She had a strong prediction, she even got in a trance.’

‘Do you remember what she said?’, he asked nervously, and Hera nodded.

The one who can save those with good intentions, locked he has been where the sun he cannot see. In the castle of the snake, he can be found, where water roars and ships are drowned.

‘Do you believe he understood the prophecy?’

‘I know so. I saw it all happen. He informed his co-workers they were to meet at their headquarters to prepare the attack, along with the rest of his followers, as soon as possible!’

‘We can’t let that happen. Do you know where this meeting will be held?’, he asked trying to keep his peace.

‘No, but we can find out. Follow me’, she said and dashed up the stairs again.

She ran into her own bedroom and left the door open for the Dark Lord, who entered right behind her. She kneeled on the cushion of the chair and placed her crystal ball on the table in front of her. She placed her hands right above its surface and begun to move them slowly around it. She stared deep into its fog, but it was still as thick as it had been when she took it.

‘I… I can’t see… anything’, she whined.

‘Just calm down and concentrate, Hera. It’s all going to be fine’, he said soothingly stroking her blonde hair.

He closed her eyes and took a big breath before opening them again to go back to her crystal ball. A few seconds later she leaned forward and said, ‘The fog’s dissipating. I see… old houses. Rubbish on the pavement… but I don’t know where it is… give me a map of London and my pendulum!’, she said pointing at the objects on the other side of the table.

Voldemort handed them to her and she held it in the air, making it oscillate over the extended map.

‘Come on, come on, come on…’, she whispered, and the pendulum slid slightly and touched a spot from the map.

‘There you have it’, she said pleased with herself. ‘Now, the place will probably be hidden or guarded… send as many Death Eaters as you can and leave one or two guarding the entrance here, in case they fail, which I doubt. Tell them to hide and wait for them to get out, before they attack. The battle will, at least, give us enough time to kill them both three times before they get here.’

‘Perfect. You’ve done good, Hera’, he grinned proudly. ‘I’ll send the Death Eaters right away, and as for you, get ready to be properly initiated’, he said, ruffling her hair playfully. ‘Do you think our victims have bonded as much as they were supposed to?’

‘If we had had some more time, it would’ve been better. But they’re ready. I’m sure about that.’

‘Wonderful. Meet me downstairs in fifteen minutes’, he ordered as he left.

‘Yes, Master.’

Draco was awoken by a loud scream. Harry!, he immediately thought. He opened his eyes and saw the Gryffindor curled into a ball with a hand on his forehead.

‘Harry, are you alright? What’s wrong?’, he asked as he ran at his side.

‘Voldemort. He’s coming and he’s pleased. That’s not a good sign…’

‘What do we do now? We haven’t got a plan or any idea how to get out of here!’

‘Yeah, well… it wouldn’t be the first time I’d improvise’, he said bitterly.

They heard footsteps getting closer and Draco’s hand fell instinctively on Harry’s leg. Harry looked up at him and smiled. The blonde got up and outstretched a hand for Harry to take to pull him up to his feet. If they were about to face the Dark Lord, they’d better do it with dignity.

The thin figure of Lord Voldemort appeared out of the shadows, closely followed by Hera. That mixed feeling of betrayal and anger took over Draco as he saw what his little sister had turned into. Suddenly, his eyes fell on the dagger she was holding and his stomach flipped. This was it. The big day had come.

Voldemort stood in front of their cell and smirked. ‘Well, Potter… I’m afraid this will be our last encounter. Are you as exited as I am?’

‘You have no idea…’, he replied, with sparkles of fury shooting out of his eyes.

‘Won’t the two of you salute Death? At least show some manners.’

‘You won’t see me on my knees, Voldemort… you won’t see me on my knees’, Harry hissed.

‘Guess again’, the wizard said amusedly and, with a flick of his wand, two pairs of chains grew from the stone wall, grabbed them by the wrists tightly and pulled them to the floor.

Harry looked up angrily, his killing gaze going over the rims of his glasses, framed by his messy black hair.

‘Do you know how long I waited to see you like this… at my mercy, like a savage creature finally petted?’

‘And I though I was the one with strange sexual fantasies’, Harry mocked him and Draco repressed a laugh.

It still amazed him how strong he could be when he was in the most unfortunate situations. He looked at the brunette, how was certainly not a boy anymore, and bit his bottom lip. He found an insane expression on his face and had the urge to jump on him and let him release all that madness with him. He was more that sure that, not even with his strongest Cruciatus, would the Dark Lord take the slightest whine out of him; and yet, he had made him shout his name out loud, curse and even cry. He loved the sort of power he had over Harry. It made him feel unique.

‘Malfoy, I believe you’re to blame for that kind of answering, am I right?’, he hissed. ‘You really turned the innocent little hero into a big pervert.’

Very big pervert’, he smirked, getting a sheepish look from his lover.

‘I’m afraid that humour of yours won’t last long. Which one do you think it would be the worst way to die? At the hands of Lord Voldemort… or at the hands of your sweet little sister?’

Draco’s smirked was suddenly replaced by a pained look. He glanced at Hera, who grinned maliciously and swallowed. The dagger she was holding shone at the light of the torches menacingly. He felt himself get fragile and unable to fight anymore.

Voldemort opened the cell and gestured for Hera to go in. The young seer walked in slowly, stood in front of her brother and looked down on him, straight into his silvery eyes. She ran her fingers through his dirty blonde hair and pulled his head back to expose his throat, where she placed the dagger waveringly. He didn’t put up any sort of resistance, and his eyes showed nothing but pain. She let go of his hair, took a few steps backward and dropped the dagger.

‘I can’t do it, Master. I can’t see him in pain…’, she said nervously.

‘I told you this was too much for a little girl, but you insisted. I could let you go to your room, but I want you to see this, so I won’t. Come here, and watch. You’ll thank me later.’

Hera walked by him and he put his left hand on her shoulder. He lifted his wand and aimed it at Draco’s abdomen. Hera looked at Draco apologetically, but he had his eyes shut in fear. The Cruciatus curse was immediately drowned by Draco’s screams of pain. He felt as though his body would break and fall apart.

‘NO!!!’, Harry cried just loudly, and the dagger flew right into the Dark Lord’s heart.

The curse was lifted off him and he breathed deeply to avoid blocking out from the residual pain. He looked up and saw Voldemort falling to the floor with a shocked expression and, only now, he begun to understand what had happened. He looked at Harry, who was trembling and had his eyes red from tears. He looked back at Hera. She was kneeling next to Tom Riddle and she dried a tear that slid down her cheek.

‘I really didn’t want to betray you…’, she whispered, ‘but Draky always comes first…’
