Chapter 25: Break-Up



The Slytherin Dungeons:



Adrian woke up the next morning and gave a contented stretch. He felt good. His entire body felt relaxed and content. He opened his eyes slowly and felt the body heat of the girl in his bed. He curled up towards that warmth and buried his face in her dark hair. He knew who it was. It was Daria. The girl he had known since there bre both children. Adrian knew deep in his heart that Terry would be angry if he found him in bed with yet another of Terry\'s girlfriends. Never mind, INSIDE one of Terry\'s girlfriends.



\"I\'ll cover,\" hissed Marcus as he took a very surreptitious glance at Daria Greengrass\'s pert tits.

\"We are not just friends,\" said Adrian. \"We are more than that to one another now.\"



\"I know,\" said Daria seriously. \"I\'m breaking up with Terry today.\"



\"Okay,\" said Adrian.



\"What about your girlfriend,\" asked Daria bravely. \"It\'s Angelina Johnson, isn\'t it?\"



\"She\'s not really my girlfriend,\" said Adrian a touch bitterly. \"If she won\'t acknowledge me.\"



\"Well,\" said Daria with a troubled expression. \"I won\'t stand for another Terry situation, Adrian.\"



\"I know,\" said Adrian. \"Meet me in the common room later?\"



\"After classes,\" said Daria as she kissed him. \"We will talk later.\"



Before Luncheon: Ancient Runes:



\"Terry,\" said Daria as the class ended. \"I need to talk to you.\"



\"We can go down to lunch together,\" said Terry easily as he walked beside her. His heart gave a twinge of guilt when he thought the rather enjoyable shag he had with Ally the night before.



Daria nodded absently as they went through the crowded corridors. Just before they got to the doors of the Great Hall, Daria caught his sleeve and motioned him towards a bench. They sat down.



\"We have to talk,\" said Daria nervously.



\"You said that all ready,\" teased Terry.



\"I know about that Gryffindor girl,\" said Daria quietly as all the sorrow from the night before settled on her heart again as she looked at his face. She remembered how much she had wanted him. \"I don\'t know what to say Daria,\" said Terry quietly as he swallowed.

\"I\'m sorry,\" said Terry.



\"I don\'t know how to say the next bit so I am just going to come out and say it,\" said Daria as she took a deep breath. \"I am already seeing someone else.\"



\"Who?\" asked Terry with surprise and a stab of jealousy. He knew he was being a hypocrite seeing as he had sex with Ally the night before but he couldn\'t help it. He had begun to think of Daria as his witch.



\"Who is that Gryffindor girl?\" asked Daria mutinously. \"I really don\'t want to know and I think that anyone I am seeing is no longer any of your concern.\"



\"That\'s true,\" said Terry with a sigh. \"Are we still friends?\"



\"I don\'t know,\" said Daria truthfully.



\"I see,\" said Terry with a sudden sense of loss. Daria had been his friend for years. \"For what its worth, I am truly sorry. It was completely my fault. Any wizard would be lucky to have you.\"



\"Are you certain,\" asked Daria. She was afraid to tell him about Adrian.



\"Of course,\" said Terry as he tried to make amends. Truthfully, Daria had let him off easy for cheating on her. The scene he had dreaded never came to pass. Daria was, above all things, a pragmatic Slytherin.



\"I think I am seeing Adrian now,\" said Daria uncertainly. \"We were together during the bacchanal and we were thinking maybe we could have something more.\"



\"Adrian?\" said Terry stunned. \"Why?\"



\"He wants me,\" said Daria simply. \"In a way I know you don\'t. He sees me as a woman rather than a suitable girlfriend. That\'s all I was to you really.\"



\"I wanted to love you,\" said Terry as he looked into her tear-filled eyes.



\"You did,\" asked Daria tearfully.



\"Yes,\" said Terry heavily.



\"But you couldn\'t,\" said Daria as she closed her eyes and shook her head.



\"Did you chose Adrian to hurt me,\" asked Terry with dark look in his eyes as he thought about the time he found Ally and Adrian in bed together.



\"No,\" said Daria. \"I never thought of Adrian in that way until the bacchanal. We were…compatible in a way I never thought possible. Don\'t blame Adrian for any of this situation. You have been with her since the beginning. A Ravenclaw told me about you and that girl weeks ago. I just didn\'t want to admit it to myself. The bacchanal made it all too clear to me that you really didn\'t want me.\"



His sudden anger about Adrian died when he heard the hurt in her voice. Who was he to get angry and jealous when she turned her attention towards Adrian? He decided right then to be a man about the situation.



\"I hope that it works out between you and Adrian,\" said Terry seriously as he touched her hand. \"You deserve the best and Adrian has a good heart.\"



\"I think he is breaking up with Angelina today too,\" said Daria as she bit her lip.



\"Good,\" said Terry. \"She tried to change him and it made him unhappy.\"



\"I\'m just sorry we didn\'t make one another happy,\" said Daria as she looked into his blue eyes.



\"I know,\" said Terry. He leaned in and kissed Daria on the mouth. Daria kissed him back.



\"Friends,\" said Terry hopefully.



\"Friends,\" said Daria.



\"It was you with Adrian this morning, wasn\'t it,\" asked Terry suddenly.



\"We didn\'t want you to find out that way but yes, it was me,\" said Daria seriously. \"Are you angry?\"



Terry thought about it for a long minute then gave a rueful grin. \"No,\" said Ter reflectively. He seriously wanted to be angry but couldn\'t muster the outrage. He had been cheating on her for weeks now. It was almost a relief to be free of the lies.



\"We should go in for lunch,\" suggested Daria with a tentative smile at Terry.



\"You do know,\" said Terry. \"That when the gossip mill finds out that you dumped me and then went out with my best friend on the same day; they are going to go mad.\"



\"Oh,\" said Daria with concerned glance up at Terry. \"It\'s sounds like I am an awful slag when you say it like that!\"



\"I am just teasing you, love,\" said Terry as he slung an affectionate arm around her as they approached the Slytherin table. \"Everyone knows I was the tart in our relationship.\" He blinked in surprise when he saw the glare Adrian was giving him as they sat down. Terry realized that Adrian did not like to see Terry with his arm around Daria. That was quite the surprise. Adrian Pucey actually looked jealous. Terry grinned.



\"Why are you so happy,\" grumbled Adrian to Terry as he gave Daria a significant look.



\"Daria and I have decided to remain friends,\" said Terry. He had briefly toyed with the thought of getting Adrian angrier by spending the next hour fondling Daria but he decided to be merciful.



\"You and Terry broke up,\" asked Marcus. He looked at Adrian.



\"Yes,\" said Daria with a blush when Adrian gave her a teasing wink.



\"Ummm,\" said Adrian as he looked at Terry\'s arm around Daria\'s waist with a frown. \"Daria?\"



\"Yes,\" said Daria. The rest of the Slytherin table was watching the by-play.



\"Fancy going to Hogsmeade with me tomorrow?\" said Adrian as he gave her a hot look.



\"Ohhh,\" said Daria. \"Let me think about that.\"



\"What?\" said Adrian with a scowl.



\"I\'ve thought about it,\" said Daria. \"Yes.\"



\"Good,\" said Adrian. He turned to give Terry a tight smile. \"Mate, could you remove your hand?\"



\"Which hand,\" teased Terry. \"The one you can see?\"



\"Merlin,\" drawled Derrick. \"Greengrass, you move fast. Didn\'t think you were that type of witch. Come sit next to me.\"



\"No,\" said Adrian as he glared at Derrick. \"Daria is not that type of girl Angus.\"



\"I know,\" said Derrick with a wink at Daria. \"I was trying to make you angry mate. By the way, what type is she then?\"



\"My type,\" said Adrian firmly. Daria gazed at Adrian with sparkling dark eyes. The Slytherins surpressed smirks as they ate their lunch.



The Gryffindor Table:



\"Merlin,\" said Fred. \"Those Slytherins are just so pervy.\"



\"What are you on about,\" asked Katie curiously.



\"Their swapping,\" said George. \"You need a scorecard just to keep up.\"



\"What swapping,\" asked Angelina. She was a tad depressed after her fight with Adrian. She wondered when she was going to be able to find him and work things out between them.



\"Daria Greengrass and Terry Higgs just broke up,\" said Lee.



\"Now she\'s going out with one of his mates,\" said Fred.



\"Who?\" asked Katie curiously. \"Tarquin? But that can\'t be right. They are first cousins; his father and her mother are brother and sister.\"



\"No,\" said George. \"She\'s swapped Higgs for Pucey.\"



\"What?\" said Katie loudly. Angelina just froze.



\"True story,\" said Lee. \"Not a rumor.\"



\"Merlin,\" croaked Katie as she stole a glance at Angelina\'s frozen expression. Katie put her fork down and followed Angie out the door a few minutes later. Angie had not said a word. She just stood up and left.



\"Angie,\" panted Katie. \"Wait up.\"



\"That fucking Slytherin arsehole,\" fumed Angie as she stormed into the quiet entrance hall. \"He doesn\'t have the nerve to break up with me in person.\"



\"Break up with whom Angie,\" said Adrian coolly from behind the Gryffindor pair.



Katie squeaked and quickly made herself scarce.



Adrian waited for Angie to turn. He had followed her out into the hall to talk to her.



\"You,\" said Angelina with a furious glare at Adrian. \"You shite, were you not even going to tell me that you were ending our relationship.\"



\"What relationship?\" asked Adrian coldly. \"We were not a couple. You kept me a secret because you were ashamed of me. We were having an affair not a relationship. Relationship implies that we getting to know each other intimately but we weren\'t. We were just fucking.\"



\"I thought you said that you loved the way I made you feel, you bastard,\" said Angie angrily.



\"I found that another witch made me feel the same way,\" said Adrian seriously. \"But without the shame and without making me feel like I had to change who I was inside.\"



\"Was she the girl you fucked the night of the bacchanal,\" asked Angie.



\"Yes.\"



\"If you wanted to break up with me,\" said Angie through gritted teeth. \"That\'s all you had to say.\"



\"Okay,\" said Adrian coolly. \"I want to break up with you.\"



\"Fine then, you Slytherin arse,\" said Angie as she stormed away from Adrian.



Adrian heaved a sigh and then turned to walk back into the Great Hall. Their heated exchange like their failed relationship had gone unnoticed by the rest of Hogwarts.



Later that Afternoon:



\"Merlin Adrian,\" said Marcus lazily as they lay on the Quidditch pitch in the middle of the afternoon. They had a NEWT study period.



\"I know, I know,\" said Adrian with a sigh. \"Your witch mad at me?\"



\"I have never known you to break up with a witch so bitterly,\" said Marcus with a puzzled expression. \"And yes, Katie is quite angry with you.\"



\"I have to confess,\" said Adrian quietly as he turned his head to look at Marcus. \"I did it deliberately. I wanted to hurt her like she hurt me. How would you feel if Katie wanted to keep you a secret?\"



\"She would never do that,\" said Marcus confidently. \"Even if we didn\'t get caught screwing in the library by that Ravenclaw. Do you know what I think?\"

\"No,\" said Adrian a touch apprehensively.



\"I think that you have feelings for Johnson,\" said Marcus. \"The other girls you just shagged and forgot about them after you came but Johnson was different.\"



\"She didn\'t want the real me,\" protested Adrian.



\"I know,\" said Marcus. \"My point is that Angelina was your first real girlfriend. I call her your \'training girlfriend\' rather like your first broom. You don\'t learn to fly high with a first broom, do you? She was the first girl you fucked that you actually cared for.\"



\"I like Daria,\" said Adrian pensively. \"Am I learning with her too?\"



\"Maybe,\" said Marcus. \"I learn something new every day with Katie.\"



\"Marcus,\" asked Adrian. \"How do you know when you truly love someone? How do you know that you really love Katie?\"



\"My first inkling was when I loved her faults just as much as I loved her good points like her fantastic legs,\" said Marcus with a laugh. \"When I found myself thinking that her impulsiveness was lovely, I realized that I was done for.\"



\"Head over heels,\" asked Adrian with a smile at Marcus.



\"I was done for when I bought her that gold and ruby necklace,\" said Marcus with a wide smile. \"I bought her Gryffindor colors without flinching. I knew it then. Adrian, you are growing up. Do you realize that you are choosing your girlfriends now for their relationship potential rather than whether or not you want to fuck them?\"



\"Trust me Marcus,\" said Adrian with a slow smile. \"I want to fuck Daria.\"



\"I know you perv,\" said Marcus. \"Is she good?\"



\"Merlin yes,\" said Adrian. \"Better than good. She has pretty little tits, doesn\'t she?\"



\"Maybe,\" said Marcus slyly.



\"Hey,\" said Adrian. \"You may be getting married but you aren\'t dead yet. I saw you take a look.\"



Marcus waited a few seconds. \"I did look but don\'t tell Katie.\"



\"Tell Katie what?\" asked Adrian with a smirk.



\"I couldn\'t help it,\" said Marcus with a chuckle. \"They were just there. The only other places I could have looked were rather naughty as well.\"



\"You could have closed your eyes,\" pointed out Adrian.



\"I didn\'t think of that,\" said Marcus as the two Slytherins laughed.





Author\'s Note:



Just so we don\'t have any misunderstandings, Marcus looked at Daria\'s breasts because he is a man. Men can\'t help it. It\'s hardwired into their nature. They have to look at breasts if they are on display. Marcus does not fancy Daria.
