Chapter 24- Destiny
Once again, thank you for the amazing reviews!
@kain: I love honest reviews! Thanks for your feedback. I'll keep it in mind when writing future stories. I'm sorry I've rushed the ending of this story but I really hate it when stories aren't finished. Hopefully this ending won't be too disappointing but if it is, I apologize in advance =) Any and all future stories will be better!
I realise there is the potential for a sequel but it's not on the cards at the moment. This is my last story for a while so I hope you all enjoy the final chapter and thank you for being such supportive and dedicated readers! =)
Hugo, Rose and Scorpius waited eagerly for Lucius and Hermione to arrive with their new child. Lucius had refused to allow Hermione to floo or apparate with the child until she had recovered from her pregnancy and their daughter was now a few months old. Hermione had written to Draco telling him his father was over-protective and Draco had shared the letter with everyone, causing them to laugh at Hermione's obvious frustration.
"I can't wait to see them. I haven't seen Grandad for a while", Scorpius stated, only his eyes giving away his excitement. Rose smiled. He had become like a brother to her in recent months and her and Hugo had taken to spending half their holidays with the Weasleys and the other half with the Malfoys at Draco's house.
Rose had been the one to suggest the idea, after finding out about her father's new relationship. She hadn't made a fuss. Her logic reminded her that it was only natural for him to want to find the kind of happiness her mother seemed to have. Ron hadn't objected, especially since he had tentatively raised the subject of his girlfriend moving in with him and Rose had just nodded and smiled.
She had told him that both her and Hugo wanted to get to know their new family better although secretly she admitted it was because she wanted some time away from Ron's new girlfriend who had taken it into her head that she and Rose needed to spend 'quality girl time' together every week.
Both her parents seemed happier with their new partners than they had ever been together, Rose reflected as she stared out the parlour room window.
"Do you know what? Mum never mentioned the baby's name", Rose suddenly stated, looking to Hugo and Scorpius for confirmation. Draco and his wife walked into the room at this moment and he answered with, "That's a good point. We'll find out today anyhow".
All five faces turned towards the fireplace as the floo turned green. Hermione stepped through, wearing a light pink dress. It matched the one her newest daughter was wearing as Lucius stepped out behind her, holding the baby in his arms.
Rose and Hugo ran to their mum, giving her a hug. Lucius nodded at them and gave Hugo a firm handshake before moving forward to do the same with Draco and Scorpius.
Chatter broke out around them as their family questioned them on everything that had passed in the time they had been away and filled them in on life here. It was amazing how many things they managed to talk about despite their daily letters to each other!
Lucius and Hermione had decided to move into the new house permanently and they all made plans to visit in the holidays and spend time with the newest member of the family.
"She's gorgeous!" Rose cooed as she held her baby sister, Hugo and Scorpius looking over her shoulder. "So are you", Hermione laughed as Rose blushed at the compliment.
Draco couldn't resist teasing Hermione with, "It looks like she gets the looks from the Malfoy side, Granger", chuckling and ducking expertly out of the way as Hermione threw a cushion at his head. The child had Hermione's curls but in blonde and her wide, brown eyes were her crowning feature as they stared out at the world from her small face.
"A perfect mix of genes", Lucius had murmured to Hermione when they had first held their child. Every time he looked at his daughter, he couldn't believe his luck at having such an amazing family.
Hermione had smiled, whispering back, "She has my eyes…but I love yours too". Her smirk had caused Lucius to give her a hard, possessive kiss, wrapping his arms around her and murmuring, "Maybe next time, we'll have one with my eyes".
She had laughed and kissed him back, slow and deep, trying to commit his taste to memory as she realised her life was almost perfect.
It was only after lunch, as the entire family settled in the parlour to relax and Hermione was rocking her daughter that the question came up.
"What's her name?" Astoria looked at Hermione, curiosity in her eyes. The entire room focussed on her and Lucius, who sat with his arms wrapped around his wife.
Hermione looked up at him and they exchanged a small smile. "Cassandra Fatuma Malfoy", Lucius pronounced.
"Fatuma?" Hugo asked, his face screwing up in confusion. "Is that Latin?"
"It means destiny", Hermione replied at the same time as Rose, both of them laughing as Draco dryly commented, "Like mother, like daughter!"
Lucius leaned down to give her a soft kiss. "It was destiny that brought us together after all", Lucius added, pulling her closer against his chest.
"Cassandra? Wasn't that granddad's grandma's name?" Draco asked and his face lit up as Lucius nodded in approval. He still idolised his father.
"Indeed", Lucius murmured, leaning down and pressing his lips against Hermione's as the chatter continued around them. She smiled back at him. They had both done some research on Cassandra and found out that she had been a very powerful witch indeed. She had spent her early married life in the house in which Hermione and Lucius now resided and she had been the cause of the Dark Magic that still lingered in its grounds.
She had been a dark and dangerous witch but a powerful one. The name had seemed apt.
"A powerful name for a powerful witch, just like her mother", Lucius had whispered to Hermione when they had decided on the name. Neither felt the need to confess this to the rest of their family and Hermione lay back against Lucius' chest, his arms holding her securely as she held the baby against her breast.
She felt content as she watched the activity and laughter that echoed through Draco's house as her family members interacted and, as Lucius pressed a soft kiss to the side of her neck, she smirked knowing this was the life she had been born to lead.
As for her newest daughter- her destiny had just begun.
Perhaps she would fall in love at first glance too!
I love reviews even when I'm not in the middle of writing so please leave one if you have time. Thanks =)
