Chapter Twenty-Three

Chapter Twenty-Three

(More Than Meets the Eye)

Sixteen years and nothing has changed among the four walls in her favorite professor’s domain.

McGonagall’s office always had been her safe haven from the harsh life of being a teenager.

Now, she still felt that familiar comfort of safety and protection, especially from the woman herself.

Minerva McGonagall is her adoptive mother after all...

“I see you and Severus finally made up.” McGonagall smiled into her cup of raspberry tea, the best kind to share among friends and her absolute favorite.

Desdemona nodded, enjoying the cute tea cakes the elves made for them. The November breeze blew into the room from the open window leaving the relaxing smell of nature behind.

“We came to an agreement and decided to take things slow and work on some things.” She took a tiny bit into a lemon cake and moaned happily.

Lemon flavor sweets were the best.

“I’m glad you finally decided to work on that jealous streak of your, my dear.”

“Am I really that obvious?” Desdemona questioned.

McGonagall only gave her a look. Mothers know their children better than anyone.

Oh, maybe she was. “I can’t help it. You know how long I’ve been in love with Severus and just the idea of another woman taking him away leaves me feeling unhappy.”

“Yes and poor Sybill hasn’t been the same since your outburst during the Opening Feast.”

Desdemona sighed. “I apologized plenty of times after Severus told me what they were doing. She still avoids me like the plague.”

“Do you blame her? That lashing was uncalled for and you did embarrass us. Luckily Dumbledore was quick enough to put a silence barrier to keep the students from hearing.” She pointed out.

She forgot about the students when she started that argument. “I’m sure they would have enjoyed it.”

“Three weeks I heard nothing but high praises to the new professor who gave Snape the bashing of the century. You have developed yourself quite a reputation.”

Stuffing another lemon square into her mouth, she made sure to eat it all before replying. “Well, if someone else had done what I did, they would be famous among the students.”

“My dear, no one is brave enough to cross the path of Severus Snape.”

“He can’t be that bad? I mean, yes he has an attitude problem and his demeanor scares the shite out of children and adults, but he has a sweet side too.”

A slender red brow rose questioningly. “What sweet side does Severus have that I don’t know about?”

Looking at the professor, she beckoned the lady to come closer. For some reason, she swear Severus has supersonic hearing.

When the other woman got close enough, she whispered softly. “He liked to cuddle after sex.”

McGonagall gasped lightly. Severus…cuddling…it can’t be true.

When she saw the skepticism in the older woman’s eyes, she shook her head and continued to speak in the low whispery tone. “It’s true, after we have a night of kinky sex, he cuddles against me. Twice he called me his precious teddy bear before falling to sleep. I got proof if you still need convincing.”

Finding it tempting to see this different side of Severus, she kept her look of disbelief.

“Fine, do you have a pensieve in your office because what I’m about to show you will mentally scar you forever.”

During dinner in the Great Hall, Desdemona sat in her usual spot next to Severus.

Dark eyes eyed her suspiciously, which she noticed after her third scoop of mash potatoes.

“Is something wrong, Sev?” She asked innocently.

“You won’t happen to know why Minerva was acting…unlike herself during the meeting?”

Desdemona turned to him, finding this news quite interesting. “Yes, Severus I was aware of her strange behavior and know the cause of it.”

“Well would you mind telling me, because she wouldn’t stop looking at me with a horrified expression on her face.”

Sighing, she might as well tell him the truth.

“She knows.” Her direct answer wasn't enough. The clarification didn't make sense and Severus noticed right away by repeating her answer in a question.

“She knows what?” His gut churned at the idea of her involvement. Somehow, Desdemona always found a way to do something...childish.

With a perverse grin, she let her eyes linger until they came in contact with his "lower region". “Had to make sure that she knows you possess other unique talents besides potion.”

When he came in contact with his lap, everything clicked. “You didn’t.” He breathed lowly, aghast.

Denial is for the weak minded fools. "I did." She wasn't weak, smugly replying. Why should she be ashamed of the man she loved?

“Why?” The shock hasn't fully kicked in, but the mortification made his complexion paler than normal. Deathly pale, not his usual sickly pale the man is known for having.

Swallowing her last bit of potatoes, she licked the spoon suggestively. “There's more to Severus Snape than meets the eye."
