Charming the Snake

Hey everyone! Thanks for all of the reviews. I'm sorry that I haven't updated recently but college is starting soon and its a pain. Why is it that buying a house is easier than applying for college? Anyway, I'm not sure how this chapter will end, none the less start! But, I'm sure I'll figure something out.

So lets see how our favorite Slytherin is going to react to the ever lovely Gryffindor. Should be very interesting.

Ok well here we go!

Chapter 24-Charming the Snake

Usually the Pearl Room was bright and had streams of pastel colors running along its walls, but at the moment, it seemed as if death it self painted its mark along the walls. Sitting slouched over on the chair, yet to move, Draco poured another shot of Fire Whiskey. His face had sagged and dropped from its previous cheery face earlier that morning. That morning.

He did not understand. Why did she run? His mother explained his new title and how she was involved. Went into detail as to why his mother had chosen her for him. He even did the whole get down on one knee bit! Surely she would be putty in his hands?

Taking another shot of Fire Whiskey, letting the liquor burn his throat, he slammed the crystal class down on the table. No, not her. Hermione would never just drop to her knees at him. And Draco knew that. That's why he liked her. She had a spine, and a mouth. Oh, how he loved that mouth. Hermione could hold her own no problem. His hazed mind drifted to all of the uses he could put said mouth to when he heard a knock on the doors.

"Um, Draco?" called the voice. "Are you still in here?" The voice that plagued his thoughts was just beyond the threshold, probably twisting her hair around her forefinger. Pouring himself another glass he threw his head back, letting the vanilla liquor burn away his sorrow.

"Yes. What is it?" he answered in a harsh voice.

Slowing coming around the door, she stood at the entrance. Draco looked up to see the witch of his thoughts still dressed as this morning. Her cute little sun dress ending just above her knee, showing off her well built legs. Her hair was a bit messier than earlier, signs of running her hands through it eminent. Her normally soft and jubilant eyes, were red and slightly puffy. She had been crying.

"Draco, I want to apologize from running out like that. I, I don't know what I was thinking-"

"Now thats a shock."

"Yes, well. As I was saying. I wasn't thinking. Surely you understand where I'm coming from when I say I was taken for a loop. You and I haven't been, the best of people to each other for six years. And this year, this year was different. Sure we still fought. But you never called me that horrid name, you never picked on my unruly hair. And then, you turned it all around by kissing me that one day in the Head Common room! What you were thinking then I'll never know."

"I was thinking of shutting that mouth of yours up." Draco said, twirling the empty Fire Whiskey bottle in his hand. Only a few hours and he had finished it off. Turning his attention back over to the witch, he saw her studying him, again. All she ever did was study. Observe. "You never know when you need to shut up. Listen to someone else. No offense Hermione but, that mouth of yours runs a lot."

"I've been told." Sighing heavily she walked over to the breakfast table and sat down in her chair from earlier next to Draco. She noticed the empty liquor bottle and her eyes grew wide in shock. "Did you finish that off all on your own?"

"Yupp. Every last drop."

"Its barely after noon!"

"Your point? Listen its my house, my whiskey, my problem." he hissed. Backing off Hermione realized that Draco wasn't in the mood for her motherly ways.

"Draco." Hermione said, waiting for him to acknowledge her. "I talked with your mother. She, she help me come to the fact that-" she paused, looking over at the man she loved. 'Can I say it? Can I tell him or will he walk away like I did this morning? What if he laughs?' shaking her head she moved the thoughts aside. Narcissa had said Draco would understand her. Hermione studied the man before her. He had witnessed countless murders as a child. He could preform some of the most unthinkable spells on a human being. Yet, at times, to her at least, he looked like he couldn't even hurt a fly.

"What is it? Come to rub it in my face?" he slurred. Draco turned to the Gryffindor Princess and awaited the lashing. He couldn't handle her rejection anymore. Love was a dangerous thing. Even for Slytherins. 'Damn her, she's going to push me aside.'

"That, oh blood hell, Draco I love you!" she shouted, blushing as those last words left her mouth. And at that moment, time seem to have stopped. Draco stared wide eyed at her, mouth slightly open. Hermione felt awkward in the silence, and just as she was about to apologize for saying such a bold thing, she was pulled up from her chair and into the arms of Draco. Before she could register what happened, his mouth descended onto her in a fiery kiss.

The taste of the whiskey on his breath lulled her a bit, as she sagged against him. Giving into the kiss she pushed back, matching his own force. After what seemed like eternity, Draco pulled away and smiled brightly down at the witch in his arms. Her cheeks were brushed with a healthy pink as she smiled back at him. Holding her face within his large hands, he kissed her nose. "I love you too, Granger." Smirking at her face at the use of her surname, he kissed her on the lips once more.

"Hey, use my name properly." Hermione protested. "Its Malfoy to you." Waiting for Draco to catch on, she watched his handsome face as he came to realization.

"Then you accept? Really?"

Nodding softly in his hands, she was taken in for another kiss as Draco pulled her in closer.

"Well then, Malfoy, we must go find mother before she dies of anticipation."

"After you, Malfoy." Hermione laughed as her and Draco walked out of the Pearl Room. Looking back, she watched warm colors shin through the room again, casting away the heavy shadows.
