Summary: Hermione is due to start her seventh year at
Hogwarts. However, she has a little surprise for Harry and Ron, one that will
test their friendship.

Chapter 22: A Strange Visit

            Dumbledore
was more then surprised when he got a letter telling him that Lily Potter and
returned to them. He head heard many things about the veil, but he didn’t know
that this could happen. Of course the veil was still a mystery to some witches
and wizards, like death itself. He wrote back, telling them that he would send
Remus to fetch her and bring her up to the school. He then turned his attention
to the still matter of finding his Potions Master.

            Meanwhile
Hermione decided that it was time to return to her apartment. It had been
several days since Lee had informed her of who had sent the letter and with the
idea that she couldn’t hurt her anymore, she felt that it was time to return to
the Wizarding world.

   “Are you sure that
you don’t to stay, her mother said.

She smiled at her mother.

   “I’m sure,” Hermione
said.

She gave her mother a hug and then left.

            She appeared
outside the shop and unlocking it, she entered. Everything was almost ready for
them to open up and she was getting more and more excited about the idea of not
having to follow anyone. She took her bag upstairs and when she opened it she
jumped.

   “SURPRISE!
both Remus and Severus said at the same time.

Hermione smiled at both of them.

   “How did you know I
was coming home?”

   “Your mother sent
us an owl,” Remus said. “Right after you left.”

She hugged him.

   “Hay what about me?”
Severus complained.

Hermione hugged and then kissed him.

   “Well I need to get
going,” Remus told them. “Dumbledore wants me to pick someone up from St.
Mungo.”

   “Good luck,”
Hermione said.

Remus laughed as he left.

            The Healer
from St. Mungo couldn’t believe it when he was told that Lily Potter had been
admitted. It was explained that she had come through the veil and was in need
of attention.

   “Does she know that
her husband is dead?” he asked.

   “We don’t know,” Kathy
said. “Were still studying the veil so we don’t know how much of the person’s
memory remains.”

The Healer sighed.

   “I’ll see what I
can do to help,” the Healer told her. “But I can’t promise anything.”

   “I understand,” Kathy
said. “However, someone coming to take her home. See if she can leave and then
let her leave with the person that the Headmaster sent.”

The Healer promised and then left to start working.

            Lily woke
up and looking around she knew that she was in St. Mungo. She shivered as the
first thing that came to her mind was Voldemort sending the Killing Curse at
her. She figured that she had survived as she was here.

   “Mrs. Potter I see
that your awake,” the Healer told her.

   “Then your correct,”
she answered. “Where’s my baby, Sirius, Remus?”

   “Mrs. Potter, you’ve
been on the other side for more then sixteen years,” the Healer informed her. “Your
son is grown and Sirius Black is dead.”

Lily felt the tears welling up and she let them fall.

            Remus
arrived at St. Mungo and was at once brought to the floor that Lily was kept.
He poked his head in and only saw one person in bed. He figured that this was
the person that he was supposed to pick up.

   “Mame,” Remus said.

He heard a gasp and then he found himself face to face with
Lily.

            Lily couldn’t
believe that Remus was alive. She got up and walked up to him, but he backed
away. She stopped and stared at him.

   “What’s wrong,
Remus?” she asked.

   “You’re dead!” he
said.

Lily frowned at him.

   “That’s what they
told me,” she said. “Please, let me hug you. I need to feel someone that’s
real.”

But Remus ran off.

   “Healer,” Remus
yelled when he ran out of the wing.

He turned and faced the man that had called on him.

   “Yes.”

   “I thought I saw
Lily in there,” he told him.

   “You did, why do
you ask?”

Remus went pale.

   “That can’t…its
impossible…how?” he stammered.

The Healer laughed.

   “I think that you
need to take that up with the Ministry,” he told him. “Lily can leave now. Tell
her what has happened to her and let her see all the friends that she does have
left. Leave nothing out.”

   “I will,” Remus
said.

The Healer smiled and then continued on his way.

            Lily
watched as St. Mungo disappeared. She had been surprised when Remus returned
and he had apologized for what he had done. She had forgiven him, but she was worried
that Remus reaction would be the same for everyone else. How much time had
really past? Lily shivered; she would have to find out.

   “So where are we
going?” Lily asked.

   “I think it’s time
for you to meet Severus and his new wife,” Remus told her.

Lily said nothing.
