Chapter Twenty Four.
The daylight was leaking through the gaps in the curtains as Cat lay sprawled across the bed. Saturday mornings were the best, she thought as she stretched against the mattress. She had been up late again last night going through CDs with Severus. Tonight was the Halloween ball and he had been pestering her to tell him the songs she had picked out. She smiled and sat up rubbing the sleep from her eyes, he didn’t like all of the music she had but he had listened to almost everything in her collection. It seemed that he was developing a bit of a passion for it. The smile turned into a laugh as she thought about him.
Once he had been shown how to work the stereo there was no stopping him and he was glued to the spot on the floor where she normally sat, going through albums at a rate of knots. Last night he had insisted on listening to Dark side of the Moon in its entirety. It was one of her fathers favourites, in fact that copy used to be his and her thoughts always turned to her parents when she heard it. I wonder what they would think of Severus. She knew only too well. Her mum would be obsessed with his eyes, she always was a sucker for nice eyes, plus she was a fan of Mr Rickman’s as well so the similarity wouldn’t have gone unnoticed. Her dad would have just studied him silently, he used to do that with all her boyfriends, it really freaked them out. If he liked them he would talk about music, specifically prog rock that was his thing. Yes, she was sure they would approve.
The spray from the shower beat down on the top of her head as she hummed cheerfully. These last couple of nights in his company had been heaven. He hadn’t pushed things at all he had just been there, okay they may have kissed each other goodnight but that had been it. To be truthful it was frustrating the hell out of her. She had a taste (literally) of what he was capable of and she wanted him desperately. He was just being too much of a damn gentleman to try anything. Well tonight she was turning up the heat. Severus was taking her to the ball this evening and she already knew that she wanted more than a dance and a goodnight kiss. So it was time to hit him with all she had and she knew just the way to do it.
Groaning he rolled over away from the light that was threatening his lie in. Saturday mornings were bliss; he had no classes and generally avoided students at any cost. This morning he was particularly tired, another late night with Cat was taking its toll. Looking at the clock he realised that he did have things to do and would have to move. Grudgingly he headed for the bathroom and stepped under a lukewarm shower in the vain hope that it would wake him up. He was taking her to the ball tonight and he had been planning to visit London to go to some of those shops that she liked so much, he was well overdue some new clothes. The time that they had spent together had only served to increase his desire for the witch, each time she kissed him goodnight he had to fight against all of his primal urges. In fact, just thinking about her was making him hard. Tonight he wasn’t going to fight his urges anymore, if she said no so be it, but he wasn’t going to give in easily. Smiling to himself he reached for the soap.
She hadn’t seen any hint of him all day, not that she expected to, he told her he had things he needed to do. Still, no harm in hoping was there? Cat opened her wardrobe and searched for the items she needed, every detail of tonight had been thought through carefully, including what she was going to wear. The only thing that could be a problem was her hair; it had a tendency to be awkward on special occasions. If only Stuart was here, he could work miracles with it she thought as she looked at her reflection. The knock on her door was a welcome interruption and she went to answer it. Surprisingly it wasn’t Severus.
“Minerva!” Cat exclaimed “I wasn’t expecting you. Is there something I can do for you?”
“I’m afraid there is” the look on the face of the transfiguration teacher was sincere. “You can help me drink this bottle of wine while we get ready.” this wasn’t a request it was an order, just the sort of thing her mum used to do. She shook her head and laughed as she let the other witch in.
