Chapter Twenty-One: Things You Dread, Always Happen.
The weeks went by quickly for everyone at Hogwarts. Aurors were counting the numbers among them that were loyal. Hermione started to pace the floor, and Snape was still practicing blocking and deflecting. June started up at once and the students had other things to worry about. They had exams and Ginny and the rest of the 5th year students had O.W.L tests to get ready for. Hermione was worried that she wasn’t going to do well enough to be Headgirl. Her husband tried to calm her down by telling her that she was the smartest witch to ever attend Hogwarts next to him.
The match against Ravenclaw took place, but Hermione was so busy studying that she didn’t even attend. Gryffindor won of course and the whole of Gryffindor house celibrated along with Hermione. The Ravenclaws of course sulked. Finally at long last their exams arrived. The first was History of Magic, an hour of answering questions about Werewolf revolts, Witch burnings, and so on. Hermione found her mind much more at ease when she read the questions. When the bell rang they headed off to Advance Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Professor Lupin hurled hexs and curses at them for a whole hour. Only two hit Harry, and Lupin marked him for that. Ron did a terrible job on his and Hermione was sure that it wasn’t going to look good on him. Hermione did everything right, and she started to calm down abit. Lunch was civil as Ron was in too much of a bad mood to throw comments at Hermione. After lunch there was no exams so she spent the time relaxing.
That night Hermione went over her notes for Potions, Herbology, and Advance Transfiguration. Snape left her to it, and went back practicing his hexs and curses. Hermione went to bed early and when Snape retired for the night he was met with a snoring Hermione.
“ Good night dear,” he whispered, kissing her on the forhead, andallyally joining her in dreamland.
Advance Potions exam went well for Hermione. The Gryffindors believed that Snape was helping her out, but she didn’t care. Herbology went by quickly, an hour of answering questions that were a combination of what they had already learned and the new things that they had learned since. Neville was hard at work on this one, and she guessed that this was one subject that he was going to get right. Hermione had a hurried lunch and then it was off to Professor McGonagall’s Advance Transfiguration exam.
Professor McGonagall had them changing stools into horses and ducks. Some still looked like they had been carved in wood, and Harry’s looked like a golden goose. Hermione’s duck was white and yellow. She hoped that it wasn’t the children doing that. At dinner Lupin bored them with stories of the cravings that his wife was having and how much he wouldn’t trade it in for the world.
“ Remind me not to set next to him when the new term starts,” Hermione muttered to her husband.
“ No problem.”
When dinner was over it was back to studying for Astronomy, Arthmacy, and Advance Charms. She silently wondered what beast Hagrid would have for their Thursday’s Care of Magical Creatures exam. Unknown to her Snape was wondering along the same lines. When she finally went to bed she had her Arthmacy book tucked under her arm and was snoring away happly. Snape left to have a nightcap with the Headmaster.
“ I can’t wait until the Care of Magical Creatures exam is over.” He told Dumbledore. “ I don’t want to think what kind of beast Hagrid is bringing.” Dumbledore chuckled at his Potions Master comment.
“ Well if truth be told I’m having him do his exam with Phoeniex’s, much better I think for the students.” Snape let out a sigh of relief at the word Phoenix.
The next day was blistering hot, and Hermione had to do at least seven Cooling Charms before she was able head off to Arthmacy. As she worked she saw the rest of the class sweltering and she wondered if they had had of sense to cast a Cooling Charm on themselves. When the bell rang she headed off to join Harry and the rest in Advance Charms. Professor Flitwicks test was easy; they had to cast the Bubblehead Charm. Hermione and Harry did theirs perfectly. Then it was a quick lunch before they had to worry about that nights Astromony exam.
“ So how were the exams?” Snape asked when she had arrived home.
“ Well.”
“ That’s great,” he replied. She smiled at him and then sat down to start studying for her Care of Magical Creatures. Meanwhile Harry and Dean were having a talk about everything that had happened so far.
“ I wonder what Snape is going to do when he becomes a father?”
“ I don’t know, I hope that he is more mellow,” Harry said to him. “ I know that Hermione will.”
“ Take that back Harry, she is always mellow.” And they both laughed.
The next day the 6th year Care of Magical Creatures class headed down to Hagrid’s hut to take their exams.
“ Gather round,” he told them. “ Our exam will cover the Phoniex. You have an hour to finish the exam.” The students got to work at once and Hagrid came around to make sure that no one cheated. When the hour was up he gathered the papers and the class was allowed to leave.
“ Thank gods that is over,” Harry told Hermione and Ron.
“ Well it was easier then I thought, Hermione exclaimed. She turned to them. “ Now if you two don’t mind I’m going
To relax with a nice book.” And she disappeared back into the school
“ Ya we mind,” snapped Ron. Harry wanted to say something to Ron, but decided against it.
Meanwhile Lord Voldemort was gathering his army.
“ We are going to attack them when they least expect it. The Mudblood is going to die first.” The Deatheaters all
Cheered that news, and so the army of darkness as Voldemort liked to call them went to bed expecting great things to
happen when the time came. The next day with no sign of an attack Hermione went back to her normal schedule. She
had a whole summer to rest and get ready for the babies to be born. She wanted them to be nice and healthy when
they came into this world and hopefully a world free of Lord Voldemort.
A week passed without any sign of an attack and just when Dumbledore was talking during the
Leaving feast, a Hufflepuff prefect ran into the hall.
“ They’re attacking,” he yelled. “ A big army.” Professor McGonagall commanded the Prefects to take their houses to
the dormitories. The older students that knew enough magic stayed behind. Hermione knew that her time had come to
aid in the downfall of the most evil and vial wizard ever. She ran and got her sword and Harry did the same. Then
climbing on horses that Hagrid had provided they rode to where the aurors, werewolves, and other supporters of
Dumbledore stood.
“ We must remain united.” Dumbledore yelled. Hermione eagle eyes watched everything and her senses were alert.
“ I’m going to make sure that nothing happens to you,” she mutter to her two babies. And then suddenly riding on
horseback all in green was the Heir of Slytherin himself, Lord Voldemort. Hermione knew this was it, this was the final
battle.
A/N: The next chapter is the final battle, and Hermione and the other discover traderers in their mist.
