CHAPTER 23

They stopped, whirling with lasers in hand when Serina suddenly screamed.  Not seeing any immediate danger, they each holstered their weapons...though what danger could possibly be present on a dead planet...  Roark shook his head as Apollo slipped an arm around her waist, and drew her away from a small niche and they all saw what had made her scream.

Roark squatted beside the bones, examining them.  "Grave robbers," he told them as he got to his feet.  "The entrance is likely close.  Be careful and touch nothing," he told them.  "Marcus said there were protections against unauthorized attempts to enter the tomb.  Here..." he reached out, tips of his fingers moving over the faded depiction.  "BEWARE.  Death awaits those who are not the Heir who attempt to enter herein."

          "Is that the door?"

"A false one," he said.  "The journal," he pulled the leather-bound book from the book pouch he had clipped to his weapons belt, opened it, and began to search..."Here, he says there are thirteen fake doorways, only his Heir would know his real one."

          "You alright, Serina?"

"I'm fine, Commander Roark,  it just startled me to see...that.  Especially when we have not seen any signs of life...dead or otherwise."

"This way." Roark entered a small tunnel just off to the left of where the three bodies lay, grabbing a torch, holding it out for Rodolphus to light.  "Watch where you step," he warned them.

                                                            CCCvCCC

          "BOO!"

She shrieked, whirling to smack the speaker.  "Don't DO that Harry--"  she froze, staring at him, before surging forward to grab onto him.  "HARRY!" she hugged him tightly.

"Aunt 'Thena," he gasped in the tight hold, "can't...breath."

"You SCAMP!" she released him, stepping back to study him as the squadron mates came running upon her shout.  "When did you GET here?  WAIT!  HOW did you get here?  Weren't you--"

          "Captain Harry.  You escaped?"

"No, Lt., they let me go.    I went to the Galactica first, spoke with Gabriel as my Viper was refueled.  He told me Admiral Roark, Commander Thorin  and the rest of you were planetside, looking for any information on the Thirteenth Lord."

"They're looking for the tomb of the First Lord right now."

That got her an arched brow.  "Abbreviated version, Auntie.  I don't think we have a whole lot of time."

          "What do you mean?"
"Cylon's Bree," he answered.  "Baltar extended an offer of Peace from the  current Imperious Leader."

"Which you don't believe is genuine?"

He shook his head.  "As I said to Baltar 'fool us once shame on you, fool us twice shame on us.  I singed him with lightning."

Laughter as she reached out to yank a strand of hair.  "Of course you did," she said, then quickly caught him up to speed.

He shook his head as she finished.  "Only Roark.  I'm going to find him and the others, break the camp down, ladies, as soon as I find them, tell them what I think is about to happen, we'll have to get out of here quickly.  I saw two Cylon fighters landing to the West of the City so I am assuming Baltar has followed me."

She was turning to give orders as Harry jogged away.

                                                                CCCvCCC

They came to a dead end.

"Now what?" Roark asked as they all began to look at the walls, looking for a secret tunnel.

"You can all stop that," came with amusement as he reached out to lay his hand into the carved niche he had spotted.  "This is it," he said, watching them all whirl as the stone door slowly slid open to reveal a square room, though it was too dark to see into the room.

"HARRY?" Rabastan suddenly breathed his entire body freezing, a somewhat distant look on his face.

"Is he here?" Adama asked him, watching his grandson move into the room, followed immediately by Rodolphus, Evan, and Roark Sr.

A smile lit his face, "He is, and he's looking for us."

          "Go, bring him to us."

Rabastan nodded, quickly turning away, moving back the way they had come.
