Rumor's Confirmed
CHAPTER 23
"Thank you, Sir. And for the record, our official titles are Undercover Specialists, but as far as this case is concerned, that is officially over as our covers have been blown to hell and back. I am quite pleased to meet you as well, Sir, Roark and Harry speak very highly of you."
Adama looked between the two of them. "I see that Apollo and Zac were right. You DO look a bit alike."
"Really? I guess our facial features may look a little alike, but not much else."
"As true as that may be, it is obvious you are cousins."
"Hum..." a brow arched, his sherry gaze shifting to Harry and Rabastan, both of whom were looking more than a little annoyed and angry the more Adama spoke. Then his gaze went to his lover, saw that his face had gone pale. "It's strange," he said as he looked back at Adama, seeing amusement flicker suddenly in Rabastan's eyes, "that we went a whole, what do you think, Bas? Close to a yahren and a half without a single comment on our being related."
"Close too, Dolph," came his answer, slipping an arm around Harry's shoulders, "and now that I think about it, I never once heard anyone even come close to suggesting that we may be related. How about you, love? Hear any rumors from the Colonial contingent?"
"Plenty on the rumors flying around on the Cylon's offering Peace, nothing on Roark being related to the Lestrange's."
"Well, there you have it, Commander. No matter. What Roark and I are, or are not, to each other is yet to be determined."
Adama opened his mouth to reply, but then, "Bring them inside, Jacob!" Ila called down from where she stood at the top of the steps. "Breakfast is nearly ready, and I have coffee and tea made."
Adama rolled his eyes as he gave a deep sigh. "Yes, Dear. We're on our way up now."
"You had better not have just rolled your eyes at me, Jacob Adama!"
Roark suddenly began to chuckle, despite the discomfort the chuckling cost him. "A word of warming, Dolph, NEVER try to win an argument with my grandmother, because you never will. When she speaks, we all immediately stop and listen. Grandfather may have been the disciplinarian, but it was Grandmother who handled all the punishments, and everything else besides."
Adama could only shake his head and chuckle. "Truer words have never been spoken. I learned THAT particular lesson a long time ago. Come along then, all of you," he turned to begin climbing the stairs. "It's best to not keep her waiting."
"Isn't that the truth," Rabastan grumbled, making Harry laugh.
Rodolphus reached out to curl his hand around Roark's, their fingers twining. "You are invited to a meeting at Ravenwood Manor later this evening, Commander. Though rather you come or not, will do little to change the outcome of the decisions that Roark and I make concerning our lives."
"What decision is there to be made? you are blood cousins, therefore you can be nothing else."
Rodolphus smiled, refusing to be drawn into an argument at this time. : Be that as it may, Commander, we are also lovers. We have a very strong bond between us that cannot be broken. Rory, darling, I would like to meet your grandmother."
"Just as she wants to meet you. I do hope you are hungry, Dolph, because she has very likely made a huge breakfast."
"Starving, my love," he answered, the look he gave him had Roark's body reacting, his face flushing at the look in those sherry eyes as they looked down at him, making it very clear it wasn't just the food he was hungry for.
