"Draco..."
"Shh, Harry. We're almost there."
I can hear Harry sneezing a few more times behind me and I feel idiotic for not cleaning out this spider web dust filled tunnel. Ah well, I'll make sure to use a few cleaning charms on the dark cavern later but as time is of the essence I cannot waste it. If Harry and I are found in our current positions we are bound to get in a hefty amount of trouble.
"Draco, are we almost there?"
"Yes, Harry. Can't you see the light? It's right up ahead."
"Isn't that your lumus?"
I just smirk to myself as the light at the end of the tunnel gets brighter and brighter. When I finally make it to the tunnels exit I tap my wand against the trap door so that the wards will recognize my magic. Almost immediately the trap door swings open and light floods the dark tunnel. I can hear Harry let out a large sigh of relief as I help him off his hands and knees and into the nearly bare room.
"Draco, what kind of surprise is this?" Harry asks me incredulously as he looks around the room. Though I did take the time to cast a few cleaning spells, clearing out the dust, I didn't have enough time to decorate the sparse room. Any other situation I would have just asked Father for a few house elves and then there would be nothing to sneeze over, however this is my secret; just for Harry and I.
"Don't you like it, Harry?"
Harry frowns before he nervously bites his bottom lip. "Um, er..."
I laugh as Harry tries to find the words to describe the room without hurting my feelings. It is rather nice to see him flounder around. "Don't worry, Harry. I know this place is horrible now, but we're going to clean it up."
"We are?" Harry asks, tilting his head to the side as he eyes the room again. I nod my head to him before taking his hand in mine, leading him on a tour of the dust filled house. As I show him room after room in the quaint cottage Harry lets out a few more sneezes. When we finally make it to the master suite upstairs Harry finally shows signs of excitement as he eyes the room. Though the master suite is as bare and dreary looking as all of the other rooms, I had taken the time to set up a small table for two where Harry's favorite meal was currently being served at: chicken fettuccine alfredo.
The small table is covered in a white silk table cloth and the patio doors are open letting the musty room receive much needed air. The table is decorated with two large red candles and one bright red lily. Roses are for Pansy, but lilies, those, those were for my boy. When Harry takes all of this in he turns to me before throwing his arms around my shoulders, holding me tight as he whispers thank you over and over into my hair. When Harry finally draws back his eyes are clouded over with unshed tears though he does have an embarrassed blush infusing his cheeks. I smile down at him, kissing his petal soft lips before taking his hand in mine, leading him to his seat.
I pull the chair out for Harry and he sits down delicately as if one rash move will make all of this disappear. I then take my seat across from his, pouring us each a glass full of sparkling pumpkin juice. "So what do you think about this place, Harry?"
Harry takes a sip of his drink before he looks around the room again. He then turns his eyes back to me. "I'm not sure exactly what all of this means."
I take another sip of my drink before placing it down on the table, reaching my hands across the red silk to lace Harry's fingers with my own. "Harry, I bought this place. For us."
Harry stares at me wide-eyed before blinking. He blinks again. "What?"
I bring his hand to my lips, kissing the back of his knuckles as I study his flushed face from under my pale lashes. Abruptly I release his hand before standing up from the table, walking over to the balcony. I look down at Hogsmeade village, watching the hustle and bustle of the small town absently before Harry comes to stand on my left. He places his hand in mine, giving it a soft squeeze and I turn away from the scene of Hogsmeade to face Harry.
"You remember when my parents met us in Hogsmeade?" Harry nods his head in remembrance and I continue. "Perhaps you will recall when my Father spoke of his earliest investment. I have decided to follow suit and thus purchased the Shrieking Shack."
"Shrieking Shack?" Harry asks in confusion.
I move my hand in a broad stroke which is meant to include not only the master suite but the whole house in all its entirety. "It seems as if at Hogwarts there is always a distraction taking us away from each other. I wished for a place where you and I can be alone and just enjoy each other. This house was the closest place for sell, not only that it, but, based on our means of traveling here, the secret tunnel is highly valuable. Very convenient as first years aren't allowed off of Hogwarts without adult supervision."
Harry nods his head in understanding before he turns from me to once more take in the room. "So, what you're saying is all of this is yours?"
I take Harry's hand in mine, leading us back to our seats. "No, Harry. All of this is ours."
Harry opens his mouth as if to protest but I silence him by releasing the magical bubble from around the food, which was not only keeping it warm, but keeping in all of the delicious aroma. Instantly Harry mouth waters and I smirk at him before taking the cloth off of the bread sticks. Harry picks one up hungrily and I laugh as he hurriedly eats a bite.
"You don't want any olive oil with that?" I ask Harry as I pour some extra virgin into a small saucer. I then add a small amount of vinegar and some pepper. Harry smiles at me in gratitude before he dips his bread stick in. I follow suit, nibbling on the corner of my own before I place it on my plate. I then wave my wand so that both Harry's and my plate is filled with the cream covered pasta.
We are both silent for a few minutes as we sample the delicious meal that I had sent for from Hogshead. After a few more minutes of silence Harry places his fork down. "Draco, Yule Tides are this coming weekend."
I place my fork down as well. "I know."
Harry lets out a sigh before lowering his head, sniffing the blood red lily before meeting my eyes with his own. "I..." Harry clears his throat. "I will miss you, Draco."
I take his hand in mine, squeezing the warms flesh. My voice comes out strangled. "I will miss you too, Harry."
Instantly Harry head snaps up at the foreign tone invading my usually suave voice. Harry hand tightens around mine in a death grip. "What is it, Draco?"
I let out a strained smile before taking a sip of my drink with my free hand. "It is nothing, Harry."
"I don't believe you."
I place the drink back down on the table before looking into Harry's deep green eyes. "I am only thinking about the time in which we will be apart. A whole month! It is...unsettling." Better to tell him that than to let him know about my upcoming Yule Tides in Okinawa.
Harry's tense form relaxes and he breaths out a sigh of relief. "I was thinking the exact same thing. All my life, I've never had a friend. And now that I have you, I...I don't want to lose you." Harry says the last part on a soft whisper.
I reach my hand over the table, taking Harry's chin in a soft grip so that I can raise his lips to meet my own. "You will never lose me Harry. I will never leave you. You are mine."
Harry nods his head as tears silently fall from his eyes. Perhaps he is too distraught to notice my slip up on the last part, but whatever it is I am glad that I am finally able to tell Harry what he means to me; even if he will only know subconsciously. I smile at Harry in reassurance before I kiss the tears from his cheeks, then once more meet my lips with Harry's again, sharing between us the salty taste. "Well," I say, after we kiss for a few more minutes. Harry's tears have dried away by now. "We should head back to Hogwarts before anyone notices us missing."
Harry nods his head in agreement and I spell away the leftovers. Harry pulls out his wand and we both clean up the mess in record time. As we exit the room Harry turns to look back at the open french doors of the balcony. "Shouldn't you close the doors? Someone might come in uninvited."
"I have blood wards around the house so no one will be getting in, through either muggle or magical means. Here, give me your hand."
Harry raises an eyebrow in question though he does give me his hand immediately. I pull out a silver dagger and I can feel Harry's arm tense but he doesn't draw back from me. I smile at him, completely ecstatic at the level of trust he has placed in me. "Reus per cruor, penetro per veneficus," bound by blood, enter by magic I say softly in Latin before I quickly pierce Harry's finger, letting a few drops of his blood land on the floor of the house. A pale blue light emits from the ground before slowly disappearing as well as the few drops of Harry's blood.
"What was that for?" Harry asks me as I whisper a spell to heal his index finger. I take his hand in mine again as I lead him to the trap door.
"That was a blood spell so that you can enter here whenever you feel like it. You will no longer need my presence to guide you."
Harry nods his head in understanding and when I order him to his hands and knees again he groans displeasure. I laugh softly before following after him. "I should be the one groaning," I say as I enter on my hands and knees. "You are shorter than me which thus means you have more room to move."
All of a sudden there is a large dust cloud in my face and I sneeze at the heavy substance. Harry speeds up his crawl and I can hear him giggling ahead of me. I smirk at him before pulling out my wand, whispering a stinging hex which I aim right on Harry's rump. Though the tunnel is too dark to see I do hear a slight commotion up ahead though that is quickly drowned out my Harry's voice. "Oww, Draco!"
I laugh loud and clear before I catch up with Harry. I lean my head over slightly so that my mouth is close to Harry's ear. "You deserved it."
Harry is absolutely silent and I feel his body shudder involuntarily. I frown in confusion. Surely Harry knew that I was only joking? If not, I shall tell him just to be sure. "Harry," I say, casting a lumus so that I can see his pale face. "I was just joking with you. You know that, right Harry? I would never do anything to hurt you."
Harry gives me a strained smile before he turns his head back in order to face me. He bumps his nose against mine and our eyes are inches away from each other. Green melts into grey. "I know."
I let out a sigh of relief before Harry turns forward again, hands and knees moving to lead us back to Hogwarts.
