Searching

People were screaming as men from the Ministry apperated all over and started to run around, trying to calm the prisoners and ask if there had been any one left in the building.

Severus ran forwards, but he was pulled back by two important looking people. He turned on them, snarling and shouting, but he wasn't heard over the noise of the surrounding crowd. Shaking one of them off, he pulled his wand from his sleeve and thrust it in the other mans face. They both backed away a bit, but they continued to try and shout over the brawling prisoners.

Severus ignored them, but as soon as he turned back towards the pile of rock that had been a prison, five other men were on him like flies. He was trying to fight them off, and was not succeeding, when two blurs of blonde tore some of the men from him.

When the men realized exactly who the oldest blonde was, they jumped on both the light haired men and left Severus free to push roughly through the rest of the crowd towards the ruin.

Once again, Severus was caught by the arm and, getting ferociously angry, he turned, grabbing the man by the throat and squeezing. The mans fist connected with Severus' jaw, and Severus threw them both to the floor. The man started to turn purple, still throwing weak punches at the raging man above him. Severus pulled let the man go as a heap of one Malfoy or the other landed on gasping man. Breathing heavily, Severus stood up.

More men from the Ministry, this time wearing protective clothing, were scrambling over the rubble, looking for unfortunate prisoners. Aurors were starting to push people further from the scene. Severus shoved one of the younger looking women out the way, and looked frantically over the piles of rocks for any sign of his wife. But he knew he wouldn't see her. She had been in the building.

In the building.

And now she would be some where under the building.

She was so small. She wouldn't stand a chance.

Severus put his hands over his face and looked hopelessly through his finger. He wanted to go and help the men pulling rocks out of the way, looking for bodies, but he was scared.

Scared of what he would find.

But when he thought about it, did he really want some other man finding his wife? Did he really want some other man, who really didn't care who she was, finding her?

No.

"Lucius! Patricia! Come back to the school! Now!" Minerva had give up on calling them Mr. Malfoy and Miss Weasley, because it was too much to say when they weren't listening.

Four days after Azkaban had collapsed the rescue workers from the Ministry had left. Severus, Lucius, Fred, George and Pat had stayed, still shifting rocks around in the hopes of finding Hermione and Annie.

Minerva, like most people, was confused. Every prisoner that had been pulled out of the rubble was still alive! It seemed impossible, but it was true, and it had given the five people still searching hope.

Different members of the Weasley family and Remus and Tonks had come and tried to persuade the two children to come back to the school, but they refused.

The prisoners that had escaped were now kept in a secret safe house, guarded by Aurors, so that nobody from the outside could try and help any of them escape.

Minerva jumped as Remus apperated beside her.

"Are they still at it?" he asked sadly.

"Yes," Minerva sighed, "I've tried to get them to come back to the castle again, but they won't. They are only prolonging the pain; why do they refuse see that?"

Remus shrugged silently and climbed over several rocks to help the search.

After a few more minutes, Minerva jumped again, as some one else apperated behind her. She turned to see the youngest of Molly’s male children staring at the broken building.

"Mr. Weasley," She greeted haughtily.

"Christ!" He mumbled. Minerva watched as he moved towards the ruin and climbed over rubble.

"What are you doing here?"

Severus looked up when he heard Lucius snarl so venomously. When he realized the reason the Blonde was fuming, he snarled and moved slowly towards the red head.

"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" he roared, getting closer, "I SHOULD HAVE KILLED YOU WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE!"

"HOW IS THIS MY FAULT?" Weasley shouted, backing away.

"You're dead, Weasley!" Lucius hissed, also moving towards Ron.

Ron back up over a steep hill of rocks and fell down the other side as some of the rubble crumbled from under his feet. Frowning, Severus motioned for Lucius to come over, and together, they moved a big rock from what they thought had been a solid mound of stones.

Lucius gasped and turned to shout to the other four searchers, "OVER HERE!"

More rock was falling into a hole. The walls were made of rocks that were held at bay by a now-starting-to-fail shielding charm. In the middle of the charm were two dust covered figures.
