Chapter Twenty-Two
Lentesco – Chapter Twenty-Two
Harry stared at Albus Dumbledore, struggling to keep the tears out of his eyes. “Sir,” he said, voice hoarse with suppressed sobs.
“Ah,” the other man said, “how interesting. An adult James Potter. I take it this is important enough to risk messing with time with?”
Harry sat down, staring about him at the room he knew so well, and which was so different to how he remembered it.
“I’m not James, sir.” He admitted, “I’m his son, Harry. I’m from the future, which sounds so lame,” he gave a half smile before going on, “I have a letter from Minerva McGonagall which explains everything.” He dug in his cloak, putting the box of vials onto the desk, and then drew out a letter.
Dear Albus,
I am aware that this sounds a little odd, but it is true. The man before you is truly James’ son, Harry. Due to an unusual set of circumstances it has become necessary for Harry to join Hogwarts as a student for a while. I have brewed enough polyjuice potion to last him the duration of his visit, and request that he is placed in Slytherin House during his stay. By the way, I have not told Harry how long he is remaining for, however, the polyjuice potion given him is enough for double the length of his visit.
We have agreed that he is to call himself Aidan Marshall and to pretend to be an American exchange student who is visiting Hogwarts as he is ill (explaining the hourly potions) before his death. When he returns, could you please inform Severus that ‘Aidan’ has died? I assure you that this convoluted plan is needed to help a student who truly needs it. Anymore than that will be too dangerous to inform you of.
One final thing, in roughly ten years, the Ministry of Magic will change the rules concerning time travel, and will ignore any requests made if not also made by the periods to be visited at the time of the visit. In this way they already know which time periods have been visited and not adversely affected. Even though the department does not as yet exist, please address your request to: Department of Time. Include the name of the person involved (Harry James Potter), the length of the stay (31 days), the date it will begin (today’s date) and when it will end (31 days from today). You must also sign the bottom to say you are happy for Harry to be in your time period for the length of time indicated.

Albus stared over the top of his half moon spectacles. “So, Harry, or, Aidan, rather, you will be staying in Slytherin House for a time.” He took his glasses off before adding softly, “I do hope you can help poor Severus.”
