Vacation
Chapter 22
Vacation
Draco’s mouth dropped in horror.
“No, no!” he cried. “Don’t listen to her! Shes delusional! What is the baby going to be??”
“I am not delusional!” Hermione grumbled. “I’m just not so sure I want to know.”
Madame Pomfrey looked back and forth between the two of them.
“Why don’t you talk it over amongst yourselves and when you’ve reached a decision, you let me know.” she smiled and gave Hermione a pat on the hand, before turning and walking away.
“Are you insane?” Draco cried, but in a whisper. “I wanna know!”
Hermione sighed deeply.
“Alright, fine!” Hermione said. “Go tell her we’ve reached a decision.”
She had expected him to protest. To say “No no, you really don’t want to know, therefore we won’t ask.”
She was totally shocked when he dashed for the Medi-witch’s office.
She could see his outline through the window in the office and hear the mumbled sounds of their talking.
“Are you sure?” she heard Draco ask.
“Well, its never certain, but it certainly appears that way.”
Draco came back around the corner, grinning ear to ear.
“Well?” Hermione asked.
“Well what?” Draco replied, picking a stray hair off his shoulder.
“What did she say?” Hermione pressed.
“She said you need to stay the night here while I make preparations for us to spend some time away from school.”
“What?! Where will we go-” she shook her head. “Oh you know what I mean! About the baby!”
“You said you didn’t want to know.” he stated, nonchalantly.
Hermione’s eyes were widened.
“You’re really not going to tell me??” she cried.
Draco leaned in very close and whispered.
“I tell you what, you be a very nice girl and I might think about telling you.” he kissed her gently on the forehead.
As he turned to walk out of the hospital wing she clearly heard him mumble
“....Teach you to throw my shit in the lake....”
NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
Hermione tossed and turned.
She wasn’t really sleepy, yet there really wasn’t anything else to do while in the hospital wing.
She was startled by the quiet approach of Ginny.
“Hey...” she whispered.
“Oh hi!” Hermione smiled back at her.
“You don’t look very sick!” Ginny chuckled. “I caught Draco in the hall and he said you’d blacked out. Are you feeling alright?”
“Yea, I’m okay.” Hermione responded. “They think its stress. Madame Pomfrey wants me to leave school for awhile. I just don’t know where I’m going to go. I can’t go home. My Mum’s already going to die when she finds out I’m pregnant. I don’t wanna spring it on her early.”
“Maybe you could go to the Burrow.” Ginny suggested.
Hermione shook her head.
“No, your Mum already has enough on her hands, what with Ron and all.” she said, frowning. “Speaking of Ron, how\'s he doing?”
“Good!” Ginny said, smiling. “They think he’s going to get to come home soon!”
“That’s so great, Gin!” Hermione said, patting Ginny’s hand.
“Yea,” Ginny said. “Okay okay, we have to figure out a place for you to go and relax.”
“Where am I going to go?” Hermione sighed. “Due to the fact I’m trying to conceal my pregnancy, home is out, the Burrow is out...”
“Mum knows your pregnant.” Ginny giggled.
“Ginny! You told??” Hermione cried.
“No no,” she said, rolling her eyes. “You think Mom birthed 7 children and can’t recognize a pregnant woman??”
“Oh, thats right isn’t it.” Hermione frowned. “I bet she had looooads to say on the subject.”
“Actually, no!” Ginny said. “Shes been so tied up with Ron she hasn’t really said much of anything.”
“Harry back yet?” Hermione asked.
“No, not yet.” Ginny replied.
Her frown told Hermione that she was really starting miss him.
“It’ll be okay.” she said, encouragingly. “Pretty soon this mess will all be over.”
Ginny half smiled at her.
“I need to get back to the common room.” She said. “I have a ton of homework. I’ll try and come back and visit later tonight, okay?”
“Alright, bye sweetie.” she said and watched Ginny leave.
Hermione leaned back against her pillow, staring out the window. The sky soon blazed purple and pink. She watched the large orange orb set, turning the room dark.
She sighed heavily and closed her eyes.
Right as her eyes closed in a light sleep, Draco re-entered.
“I’ve made preparations.” He stated, matter-of-factly. “We’ll leave tomorrow morning as soon as Madame Pomfrey releases you. I thought about talking a broom there, but Dumbledore insists thats not proper transportation for an expectant mother-”
“Wait, wait,” Hermione interrupted. “Where are we going?!”
“Malfoy Manor of course!” he stated, eyeing her once again like she had three heads.
