Bringing in the Demons

Chapter 21 – Bringing in the Demons

AN: I figured it was about time we brought Lucius in. He’s been talked about for 20 chapters!

+++++

Caressing the binding of the book, Narcissa let out a sigh of relief, as she placed it back into the library. Severus had returned it in good time, and Lucius had been none the wiser.

Pulling her shawl tighter about her shoulders, she wondered what time he would get home today. He said he would be home, but sometimes his “trips” got extended.

To be honest, she hated it when he came home, the slight family atmosphere that occurred disappeared into suppression when he set foot in the house. the elves went back to cowering, everything beautiful and nice went back to hide, and she had to leave her own rooms to sleep with him in his.

Except, lately, he hadn’t been taking much of an interest of her, she assumed he had found another love interest to occupy his time. He liked challenges.

Leaving the library, she saw a shock of red hair, and her heart ached for Ronald Weasley, as he disappeared around the corner.

Lucius would be furious about the match, and would no doubt try to do everything he could to stop it, perhaps even killing Ronald.

Draco, despite her best efforts, had attained some characteristics of his father, and she doubted very much that he would stay faithful to Ron for a long period of time.

At least Draco had gone and got himself someone decent to be with, so when he was out gallivanting and breaking Rons heart to humiliated pieces, she would be able to sit with him and remind Ron that no, there was nothing wrong with him, and that he was very attractive.

Perhaps the only good thing that would come of this is her getting a companion in her misery, that is until Severus came through with the way to break this blasted bond. Her heart sped up at the thought of Severus.

Noble Severus, proud Severus, kind Severus.

Settling down onto the couch, she took up some needle work, to reflect upon her history with Severus.

When they had first met, she had been dating Lucius unaware of the pain it would cause her, just blissful at the fine match she had been able to come up with to please her parents.

Her first impression of him, was that he was ugly and taciturn, full of the awkwardness of youth.
He rarely spoke in long sentences, and she was baffled why her lovely Lucius would hang out with such a man.

It was only later when she realized, why they hung out together, for both of them had the same darkness within.

Few months had passed, before she had realized that Severus had unwittingly fallen in love with her, and although she did not scorn him to his face, she laughed at him in private.

Oh what a fool she had been, if only she had broken it off with Lucius, and married Severus how much happier she would be.

Looping her needle through the material, she focused upon her work with full concentration, before letting her mind wander again.

In fact, she partially blamed herself for what Severus had become. Over the years she had watched him carefully woo women, and then when he had had his fill, discard them as if they were whores.

Now that Hermione Granger was staying with him, she was noting that he had that same glint in his eye, for when he had a particularly juicey specimen lined up, and she knew that with his pride he would woo her entirely, making her feel beautiful and in love with him, until when she uttered the words “I love you” and became expectant of a fulfilling relationship, he would crush her heart with a snarl, and unceremoniously chuck her from his house.

Reflecting over their conversation they had, when he had returned the book, she shuddered.

His silky voice had hinted that, he would take Hermione after he had purified her, letting her fall into his trap entirely, having him be in total control.

Putting down her needle work, she rubbed her eyes, trying to forget her understanding of his intent. With the amount of time it took to brew that potion to purify her, Hermione could possibly be broken beyond repair once Severus had twisted her heart and crushed it under his well heeled shoe.

A twisting in her stomach, made her wonder if she should do something about it. Give Hermione a “Heads up he’s a bastard” warning.

No, she couldn’t, Severus was working to free her from Lucius, it would be dishonorable to ruin his fun.

Plus he would most likely find out, and stop work altogether in anger.

A loud echo of the front door slamming let Narcissa know that Lucius had returned, and quickly picking up her needlework, she waited until he entered the sitting room, his cold blue eyes taking in his wifes demure form.

“What is this I hear? Draco is married to a Weasley?” he spat Weasley out with contempt.

Slowly looking up at him, she replied, “Hello to you to darling.”

“Don’t give me cheek Narcissa,” Lucius flumped into his imposing Masters Chair, focusing his gaze upon his cold imperious wife.

“I’m not giving you cheek Lucius, I’m just reteaching you manners.” she replied before returning to her needle work.

He was up in an instant, and he grabbed her by the upper arm, wrenching her to his level.

Screaming a bit, she turned an angry gaze at him, and hit him with her needlework, the needle pricking his arm.

Immediately letting go, Lucius glared at her, “Tell me if it is true. Is Draco bonded to a Weasley brat?”

“Yes.” she responded coldly.

“How could you let this happen? What sort of wife are you?” he hissed, taking a step towards her, his hands clenching.

Narrowing her eyes in contempt, she replied, “No Lucius, what sort of father are you?”

Passing him, before she left the room she said, “Now be good to my son in law. We don’t want him to summon his whole clan upon us do we?”

+++++

Lucius watched his wife leave, anger coursing through him. That woman infuriated him to no end.
She had been kind and gentle, the perfect trophy wife when they had first married. He had loved her then, but then, when she did not put up with his, hobbies, and he got rough with her, she got rough back.

His heart started to throb, as fire of another kind entered his eyes.

Merlin he loved that woman.

Everyone but her was ready to take shit from Lucius.

He knew her small doings, her lending Severus that book, her small outings.

Something niggled at his mind though, how she kept meeting up with Severus looking rather shifty about something. As if she and him were testing something, but it could not be said directly, and whenever he asked Severus what he was working on, Severus would evade and give something vague.

It really rankled him to know that both of them were keeping something from him, causing him to be more determined to find out what it was.

Heaving a sigh, he looked in the direction he knew Draco to be. Not wanting to bust in to see his son engaged in an intimate act, he decided to wait until break to confront them. There had to be some way in which to rid themselves of the Weasley.

Death was always an answer.

Sipping his drink, Severus settled back in his chair, regarding the situation with Hermione. A brilliant young witch who needed his help, and who for some reason desired him.

The idea of a witch desiring him wasn’t that foreign, although one of such interest showing up, hadn’t happened in quite awhile.

Usually, they had some insipid idea that they ‘understood him’ and would try to ‘help him heal’ and basically become the man of their dreams.

He had no need for heal, because to be honest, he had healed already, the wound had closed up warped and twisted, his heart although ready to indulge in various pleasures, turned off from love.

His favour to Narcissa was done to get petty revenge on Lucius for ruining his first love, and when it was done, he would be satisfied.

‘Lucius’, his grip tightened on the glass, his breathing becoming more laboured.

Soft steps could be heard, and then Hermione entered the room, dressed in some ridiculous pajama set with some set pattern of cows jumping over moons, and large fluffy slippers.

“You’re still up?” she asked, her warm brown eyes sparkling.

How he hated this Veela curse, it haunted him night and day. To be honest, he had never had any second thoughts about Hermione, until he met her again transforming into some sort of Veela, and now she had become a pain in his backside.

Giving her a brief smile, he nodded, took a sip, then replied, “Just thinking over things. How to set up and the like, perhaps your case of becoming part Veela could assist me in the research of cleansing the blood of the blood bond.”

Sitting down across from him, curling her feet under her, she smiled. “It’s interesting how all things seem to come together at some point.”

“Yes Hermione, it is.”

He would thoroughly enjoy taking her virginity and then discarding her, letting the world know that the pride of Gryffindor house was nothing more but just a woman. A slave to her passions.

They all were worthless in the end, when you came down to it.

AN: I was noticing Severus becoming rather mushy, tediously predictable, and I was already seeing the end of the story. So I decided to throw in a monkey wrench. :]

Will Hermione find out about Severus NASTY plans by herself, or will Narcissa decide to risk the rest of her lifes happiness and tell Hermione?

What’s Lucius going to do when Ron and Draco surface for air?

Don’t ask me, ask the next person writing! :p
