Hermione

Hermione

After I calmed down, and had a good laugh at listening to Molly’s telling off of whichever one of her brood she had managed to catch; Severus and I walked through the Hogwart’s grounds to the gate so we could apparate.

We arrived in a place similar to Diagon Alley, a long street with shops, restaurants and little café’s on either side, a small Gringott’s branch at one end, with a postal owl centre at the other.

“Where are we?” I asked.

“Wizarding York. Welcome to Whip-ma-whop-ma-gate.” Severus said, offering his arm as we walked to one of the shops: ‘The Green Dragon Apocothary.’

“Why do we need the apocathary? Can’t you brew everything you need?” I asked, a little confused.

“Indeed I can, but this is the home of the Potion’s Master whom I was apprenticed to, Master Heng Zhi. His wife, Marcia, runs the robe boutique next door.” He said, opening the door and walking in.

“One moment and I will be with you.” Said the little man bent over a cauldron at the back of the shop, not even looking up from his work. He wore a high-collared, black silk mandarin shirt beneath a long black waistcoat that had a large collar that was tall enough to touch his ears. It was lined in a shimmering emerald green. He was clean-shaven, with the exception of the very long moustache that was tucked into the third frog-closure down on his shirt. He was bald, with bushy white eyebrows and a beaming smile as he completed his potion.

“What can I do for… Severus! Goodness me! You should have said it was you! The potion could wait!” he shuffled around from his counter, and embraced Severus in a firm hug, barely standing to the middle of his chest.

“Zhi. How are you?” Severus asked, returning the hug before stepping back.

“In need of a cup of tea – would you like one?” he didn’t wait for an answer before shuffling back into his storeroom. The long waistcoat had a beautifully embroidered shimmering green dragon on the back, and a wide green silk belt went around his waist. He wore emerald green loose-fitting trousers.

“Oh! I’m forgetting my customers! Severus, you distract me, my friend!” he turned to me, “Madam, how can I be of assistance?”

“I’m with Severus, we came to visit.” I said, not perfectly sure if it was the right answer.

“Oh, well that is alright! I do not like to neglect my customers! Come let us have tea – and learn what brings you here, good friend.” He shuffled away again, returning with three levitated chairs, a fragrantly steaming cauldron and three small cups. “Move that table over for me, let us sit and chat.”

“This is interesting tea, what is it?” I asked, taking a small sip and not sure weather I liked it or not.

“Ah! It is my secret recipe! It invigorates the mind and calms the body… nobody other than I know the ingredients.” He smiled, pulling his long facial hair from his shirt, it hung down to his waist.

“So, what brings you here, my friend?” he asked, sipping at his own cup; Severus took my hand before introducing me.

“I’d like to invite you to my wedding; this is Hermione Granger – the future Mrs. Snape.”

“Ah! I wondered if you would ever settle – you were a seed blowing in the wind, and now you can put down roots and be steady!” his dark eyes glistened a little before he turned to me, “He is an honourable man, and will serve you well as a husband! He was lost for a while – but an honourable man whom is lost is still honourable!” he smiled, placing down the little cup before placing his hands together and bowing slightly to me.

“Thank-you, Zhi, your words mean a lot to me.” Severus said with a genuine smile, letting go of my hand while the other man took it and looked into my eyes.

“You are a special one – very powerful, but so soft and gentle; you are balanced and level… you will be good for him, yes – I think you are a good match… I know your name and face, and I cannot remember why.” He looked out of the window for a moment, Granger… why do I know of that name? No, Severus, do not tell me!” He looked at me, his head to one side as he thought. “No! You are the woman who? With the He-who-shall-not-be-named?! The thoughtful one of the three?!”

“Erm. Yes?” I answered, not quite sure what to say.

“She is rather modest, Zhi, and actually is here to see your wife for her wedding robes.” Severus smiled, taking my hand once more.

“Ah! Well go through to next door, she will no doubt oblige – go visit with her Severus! She will enjoy seeing you!”

“I am sure she will.” Severus said shaking his head at the easily excited small man.

“Oh – and a little advice before you come back and assist with my potions! An upset wife is as dangerous as an angry dragon! Wise man say: do not upset your wife!” he was still chuckling merrily as Severus and I left the shop for the boutique next door.
