The Hogwarts Express

Chapter 21 The Hogwarts Express

"Oh, I'm s---- Zabini." She stepped back and noticed his new badge. "So you're Head Boy this year," she said needlessly.

His eyes blatantly ran slowly up and down her body, resting on her breasts as he answered. "It would appear so." She pushed her way past him, knocking into his arm and forcing him to move out of her way. So far, they were the only ones there. When she sat down, he sat across from her.

"What do you want, Zabini?" she sighed.

"Oh, the possibilities that question opens up."

"Then in that case, we'll just ignore anything you think you know about me and go over the schedules I've drawn up so we can present them when the prefects get here."

Realizing that the prefects could in fact arrive at any moment, he decided to give up. "Alright. For now." Soon enough everyone was there, the train had started moving and the meeting was over, with Hermione and Blaise taking the first patrol. She had come up with this theory before she knew who the Head Boy would be, and now she was starting to regret it.

"So, how long has... this... been going on?" he asked, gesturing to her left breast. After glaring at him she knocked on a couple doors until she came across an empty car. She pulled him in, locked the door and put up a silencing charm.

"Zabini, I have no intention of talking to you about anything until I am told otherwise. You shouldn't know anything at all. To you, I should just be the goody-goody Gryffindor Head Girl. Also, if you say anything to anyone that could put any suspicion on me at all, you cannot imagine the pain that will be brought down upon you. Then you'll have to deal with the Dark Lord. Oh, and I'm glad your mum's back safe." With that she took her charms off the room and walked out the door.

He followed her out of the compartment, dumbstruck. Hermione fucking Granger had just threatened him with bodily harm, and from the look on her face when she had said it, he believed she was completely serious. As they left the car and walked into the hallway they were accosted by Pansy Parkinson and her group of Slytherin girls who were making their way to the bathroom car.

"Blaise! What are you doing in that car with the mudblood!" she shrieked, glaring at Hermione, remembering the girls accusations, even though she supposedly didn't recall any of it.

He just rolled his eyes. "I'm patrolling with the Head Girl, Pansy. Now if you would just be on your way..." She turned her glare onto him, furthering the look into one that unmistakably said 'we'll talk about this later'. "Nice scars," she sneered as she passed Hermione, whose robes were open and her shirt, while not low cut was still low enough to see said scars.

"They are rather pretty, aren't they?" Hermione smiled nicely, knowing that it would throw the group of girls for a loop. They all stared at her, looking as though they were trying to not let their jaws drop. They only moved on when Blaise came behind them and made shooing motions, following them for a few feet.

They walked in silence for another half hour when Hermione looked at her watch. "Oh! Our time's up. Have fun with Pugface," she said before adding an barely a whisper, "And remember what I said. Also, you probably shouldn't say anything that would cast suspicion on Malfoy's.... fidelity." With that she turned on her heel and joined her friends in their compartment.

When she entered the compartment, she was happy to see that the only seat open was across from Ginny, but also next to Harry. She had always cared for the girl, but she got some pleasure that she had never experienced before with the knowledge that she had the power to send her over the brink. And to make it even better, she didn't have to do anything special. Since she had told Ginny about the locket which she still wore all of the time, no matter what Harry said or did in regards to her he would look guilty, no matter how innocent his intentions truely were.

As if to prove this, as soon as Hermione sat down, Harry asked about who the Head Boy and the new prefects were. That didn't bother Ginny quite so much as the way he had slightly leaned in to ask the question. And when Hermione made a comment about one of the Hufflepuffs that had Harry laughing, she just knew that her ex-boyfriend had really broken up with her because his sights were now set on the traitorous bitch. Never mind the fact that both Ron and Neville were laughing, and Hermione had been completely serious, not trying to get such a reaction at all.

Despite the fact that she felt as though she were just spending the entire time glaring at her now enemy, Ginny was acting more like herself than she had in a while. She found herself joining in conversations, and joking with Hermione. She just couldn't control herself no matter how hard she tried. It was worse than when You Know Who was posessing her because now she was fully aware of all her actions. She didn't want to be acting this way, she wanted to scream at the top of her lungs and rip Hermione to shreds before she could hurt her brother, her love, or anyone else.

For their part, Ron and Harry were ecstatic to see Ginny finally being normal. She wasn't laughing uncontrollably or sitting morosely as if in a dense fog. She was joking and having fun. They knew that going back to school and being around all of her friends was the best thing for her.

When they arrived at the train station, Hagrid was waiting for the first years to bring them across the lake, but there was now a pronounced sadness to him. Harry, Ron, and Hermione went over and each gave him a big hug and promised to come and visit him soon. Hermione especially planned on visiting him, knowing not only that the half-giant would be lonely and sad without Dumbledore, but also that when he drank his tongue was always looser than most would like it to be.

This time when they went to the carriages, Hermione could see the thestrals, but she couldn't let her face show anything out of the ordinary, as no one knew that she had been near someone who had died. They were disturbing and yet they were beautiful in their own way. It was weird to think that these were the invisible creatures they had ridden to the Ministry that fateful night. Well, she had finally got her wish to see them, she thought wryly.

After what seemed like forever of Luna going on and on about some non-existant creature and then treating Hermione like she were an idiot for not believing in them, they finally reached the castle. The sight of it all glowing from the inside with candlelight and a backdrop of stars, like this night, somehow always managed to take her breath away. Soon enough though everyone was in the Great Hall waiting on the first years to be sorted so they could all eat.
