Chapter 21
“I must ask you why he would want Harry to destroy the dark lord if he was working for him?” Madam Bones asked.
Severus sat down hard in the chair behind him. “That is a question that I cannot answer,” he told her. “I didn’t know until that night.” He ran a hand through his lanky hair. “I had been feeding Dumbledore information about Voldemort’s plans, there were times that he seemed very angry about what the dark lord had planned.”
“Maybe he wasn’t doing what Dumbledore had planned. He might have been following his own plans, and just letting Dumbledore think that he was doing his bidding,” Sirius said.
Madam Bones dropped into her chair, “There is nothing I can do without more proof.”
Severus hung his head, “It’s because I was a death eater, and you can’t trust my word.”
Madam Bones leaned over her desk, “Severus, it’s been over sixteen years since it happened, I couldn’t take the word of Merlin himself after that much time.”
She ran her fingers through her hair. “The biggest problem will be protecting Mr. Potter and the three of you.”
“You don’t need to worry about the three of us,” he told her.
“You don’t understand Sirius, Remus is a werewolf, and you spent 12 years in Azkaban and escaped. Anything that happens will be your word against Albus’,” she explained. “I need someone inside that can protect all of you.”
Remus smiled, “How about Tonks?” he asked. “She’s an auror and qualified to teach Defense. She worked for Albus in the order.”
Madam Bones grabbed a piece of parchment and scribbled a note, then she folded it and send it on its way. “That was a good idea. Now what are we going to do about getting the two of you into Hogwarts?”
Severus smiled, “That will be incredibly easy,” he said. “We will be having a bonding ceremony in a few days and Albus cannot refuse to allow my bond mates to live with me.”

Harry walked into the library carrying Serena. He had been searching for Dudley for half an hour, and had finally found him playing gobstones with Ginny. He sat down on the chair behind them, “Dudley, I was wondering if you would like to spend some time with Serena?” He watched as Dudley looked over at Ginny, and the small nod of her head.
“You’re still going to adopt her aren’t you?” he asked. “I’ve been talking to Mrs. Weasley and Ginny about her. I can’t take care of her; I have six years of school to make up for.”
Harry looked from Dudley to Ginny, “If you still want me to, I’ll adopt her. I had thought that since you were away from Uncle Vernon that you would want to take care of her yourself.”
Ginny smiled at the two boys, “Harry, Dudley knows that you will take good care of Serena. He needs to put all of his effort into school right now. He talked to mum and me about you raising her. Mum thought that there was no one better for her than you.”
“I do love her Harry, but I’m just not ready to take care of a baby and make up all of the stuff that you’ve already learned.”
Harry sniffed and wiped the wetness from his eye, “Alright Dudley. Would you like to spend a few hours with her now? I have some things that I want to do, and I thought that she would enjoy spending time with someone that could play with her.”
“Dudley and I would love to spend a few hours with Serena,” Ginny told him as she took the baby. “I’ll bring her back to you right before dinner.”

Draco searched through the small room where Severus had been brewing and storing his potions. He didn’t even know exactly what he was looking for, but he knew that he wanted to be prepared. When he couldn’t find anything that was labeled contraceptive potion for men, he left the room. He would catch Severus when he got back.

They took a portkey back to Godrics Hollow, with the addition of two passengers. They had brought Tonks and Madam Bones back with them. They appeared in the dining room, just as Hermione and Ron were setting the table.
Molly bustled out of the kitchen when she heard them arrive. “Tonks, how wonderful to see you,” she said to the pink haired auror. She walked over to Madam Bones, “Amelia dear, how are you?” she asked.
Amelia stepped into the hug Molly offered. “I’ll be doing much better once we make sure that Harry and those three are safe,” she said pointing to Severus, Sirius and Remus.
Molly led her over to the table and sat down with her. “What did you find out?” she asked, not directing her question to anyone in particular.
Severus sat down across from the red haired Weasley matriarch and motioned for the other two men to do the same. He snapped his fingers to call for Dobby. The elf appeared next to him. “Dobby, could you go and tell Harry, Dudley and Draco that I would like to see them,” he said.
Dobby nodded and popped out of the room.
A few minutes later, Harry came in followed by Draco and Dudley. “You wanted to see me Professor Snape?” Harry asked.
“Have a seat, gentlemen. We’re going to tell you what we found out today.”
