The minute that Harry entered their shared bedroom, Draco grabbed his arm and pushed him against the wall. Harry opened his mouth to speak, but Draco stopped any sound from coming out by clamping his open mouth to Harry’s. Harry couldn’t help enjoy the feel of his boyfriend’s lips on his, and his tongue inside him. He moaned into Draco’s mouth, wrapped his arms around the other boy’s waist and pulled him closer.
When they finally parted, they were both panting and aroused.
“That was some kiss, love.” Harry said. He moved his hands up Draco’s sides, producing small shivers through the blond.
“I’ve been waiting to do that to you day day,” Draco smirked.
“You still could have. I don’t care what anyone thinks.”
“Me either, but I was being civil.”
“Oh? Is that all?” Harry smirked, pulling away from Draco’s body.
“Just where do you think you’re going? I was warm!” Draco pouted.
“To get your present. Unless you don’t want it?” Harry looked back and gave Draco a sideways glance.
“Hell yes, I want it! What do you think you are? A Slytherin?”
Harry laughed as he walked over to the closet and pulled something out. “Actually I almost was, but that’s a different story.” Hiding it behind his back, he wandered over to his pouting boyfriend and stated, “Take out your wand.”
“What? This is no time to duel, Harry!”
“I don’t want to duel, just take out your wand.”
Draco shrugged his shoulders and did as asked. “Okay.”
Harry got as close to Draco as he dared, and then held out a heart-shaped jewelry box. Draco looked up and gave his boyfriend a raised eyebrow, but Harry just smiled back. “Tap your wand on the heart locket and say ‘I solemnly swear that I love Harry Potter with all my heart.’”
Draco was fighting not to laugh. “You’ve got to be kidding me!”
“No,” Harry frowned slightly. “I’m not.”
Draco took note of the frown immediately, so he recomposed himself and then tapped his wand on the heart and rasped. “I solemnly swear that I love Harry Potter with all my heart.”
The locket opened, emitting a green light. Draco had to shield his eyes for only a second. When he saw what was inside of the locket, his eyes went so wide they almost fell out of his head.
“Harry?” Draco tried to say more, but the words were caught in his throat. Inside the red and gold heart-shaped locket, resting on a velvety bed, was a silver ring.
Harry blushed a bit. “It’s a promise ring.” He took the silver ring out, and then put the locket away. He noticed Draco’s trademark eyebrow and sighed, “What did you think it was?” Draco’s look told all. Harry smiled, “Well, a promise ring is usually something that two people dating use, to promise themselves to each other. Unless. . . unless you *want* it to be an en-engagement ring. . .”
Draco’s mouth went dry. “Well, I. . . that is. . .”
“It doesn’t have to be,” Harry interrupted, blushing slightly. “It can just be a promise ring, if you want it to be. I mean, I want the whole proposal to be special. . . you know. . . but I’m not sure how you want it to go, because of the way you are. . . and also I figure that maybe *you* would want to do the proposing. . .”
“Harry?”
“Yes?”
“Shut up,” Draco smirked, and then stuck out his left hand, “And put it on my finger already.”
Harry blinked, dumbfounded. “Um, does this mean you want it to be an engage. . .”
“Maybe. Just put the damn thing on and kiss me, ok?” Draco chuckled.
Harry shook his head and joined his boyfriend in the laughing. He gently took Draco’s offered hand into his and then slipped the sliver band around Draco’s ring finger. There was a small, green dragon engraved on it that Draco didn’t notice before. He lifted his finger closer to his eyes to get a better look.
“On the inside it says, ‘To Draco from Harry. A promise from the heart.’” Harry felt his face go warm.
Draco placed a hand behind Harry’s neck. “You don’t follow instructions real well, do you?” Before Harry could retort, Draco had his lips against his. They shared a heated kiss for a while, and then Draco finally moved away, “I love you, Potter.”
Harry felt his knees go weak. That was the first time Draco had ever said that TO him and not to someone else. “I. . . I love you too. . . Malfoy.”
Draco snorted. “All right, I’m done being a sentimental fool. Right now I want to be your fool.” He pressed his lips against Harry’s again, but this time he didn’t want to let go.

After another small make-out session (cough), Harry and Draco walked back downstairs to the Great Hall. The moment that Draco set foot on the floor from the last step, Blaise had grabbed him by the elbow and ushered him over to the tree.
“All right, open your gifts now! You got three others since you were gone.”
“What?” Draco looked down at the bottom of the tree, not expecting to see so many presents from those who he used to deem as unworthy witches and wizards. He was almost speechless.
“You’re opening mine first, since you were so polite to me.” Zabini said sarcastically.
“You’re such a cry baby.” Draco smirked. Blaise was about to say something, but then he shoved his present into Draco’s hands.
“Happy Christmas, mate.” Blaise said, and then he smiled.
It was a small box. Draco was dreading what could be inside, but he opened it anyway. He lifted the lid and had to take off a thin piece of paper that was covering the object inside. Draco gasped when he saw that there were two things in the box. One was a shiny, silver dragon pendant that had dusky blue eyes, with a long chain. He fingered the necklace with awe, and then looked at the other object resting next to the dragon.
“What’s this?”
Blaise picked it out of the box and then held it up above Draco’s head, “Mistletoe.” He grinned, and then moved forward and placed a light, chaste kiss on the corner of Draco’s lips.
Draco blushed bright pink.
Harry gasped, wide-eyed, as he witnessed what happened. Then, after the shock finally wore off, he shifted his eyes at Zabini and gave him a deadly glare.
Blaise was laughing at Draco’s reddened face until he saw the way Harry was looking at him. His laughter slowed down and then he muttered, “Oh, shit. . .”
“Oh shit is right!” Harry grounded out. “How—How could you do that, in front of me. . .”
“Harry,” Draco put his hand out to touch Harry’s shoulder and mumbled, “Calm yourself. . .” but he went unheeded as Harry continued.
“. . . to MY boyfriend and. . . not include me??”
Everyone around them gasped.
Blaise went from wincing at the anger in Potter’s voice, to full-blown shock. “Excuse me??”
Harry walked over to Blaise, grabbed the mistletoe, and then hung it over his own head. “Well? Do I get one too, or not? Unless you have a different Christmas present for me?”
Blaise smiled, victoriously, and then moved forward to plant a light kiss to Harry’s lips. All cheered.
“Go Blaise!” Malcolm crowed.
Draco shook his head. This was the weirdest Christmas he’d ever had. With a sigh, he took the dragon necklace and put it around his neck. “Thank you, Blaise.” Draco said, cheeks still slightly warm.
“You’re welcome, Drakie.” Blaise grinned. Harry was also blushing.

Draco was still in awe at the niceness from many. He didn’t expect to get a gift from Granger, nor did he even suspect to get one from Dean and Seamus, or even Dobby, but he took it in stride. He wasn’t sure if they were doing this because he was with Harry now, or because of what happened with his parents. He had even got a surprise gift from the Weasley twins, but it wasn’t too much of a surprise as to what they sent him. Inside a flat box was something that made Dracmp omp out of his skin. . . it was a framed picture of the old DADA teacher, Mad-Eye Moody, winking provocatively. There was a letter inside, and Draco read it.
Happy Christmas and New Year, Malfoy!
We hope that you’re treating our Harry right, or next time it’ll be the real thing. Remember that, little ferret.
Sincerely, Gred and Forge
Draco’s face went red with anger. Harry was laughing when he read it, but when he saw the look on his lover’s face, he stopped and tried to console him.
“How dare they!” Draco snarled. “Some present! Those identical idiots are really asking for it!”
“Calm down, Draco. It’s just a joke. It’s the way they are. Just be glad that they even thought of you.”
Draco sighed in defeat, but was still fuming. “Be better if they *didn’t* think of me. Damn Weasleys. I’ll show them. . .”
Harry shook his head. His lover had to learn how to control that anger of his. Especially when it came to the Weasley family.
It seemed that the truce was still going on, and that it was mostly visible between the 6th years. The 7th years were doing the best they could too, as were some of the 5th years. One of the last original Slytherin Quidditch players was in their 7th year, and Draco had a feeling that he would have to do some Quidditch try-outs next year, which was HIS last and final year at Hogwarts.
Just as he was putting away his gift from Hermione (a broom polishing and care kit, like the one she gave Harry), and setting his broomstick aside, Snape walked over to where he was sitting by the fire.
“Mr. Malfoy,” He handed him a letter.
“Yes, Professor?” Draco saw the letter Snape was handing him and took it. He wasn’t sure if he should be pleased to see that Professor Snape didn’t forget him or not. The look on Snape’s face was scaring him. The potion master looked almost. . . embarrassed.
Draco slowly opened the letter and read it. His eyes widened at every word the more and more he read. Once he finished, he looked up at Snape with quivering eyes. “You’re not. . . this isn’t some kind of twisted joke, is it, sir?”
Slowly Snape shook his head. “No, it isn’t.”
Draco let out a breath. “G-Godfather? You?”
“Yes. Until you’re eighteen. Happy Holidays.” Snape turned and left before Draco could even get on his feet to hug the living daylights out of the Professor. Draco just sat there on his hunches, staring after Snape.
Harry had just come over to see what it was that Snape gave him, and when he found out, he gave Draco a big smile and congratulated him. “Now you don’t have to worry about who you’d go to for guardian stuff.”
“Yeah. Can’t exactly go to Azkaban and talk to my father, can I?” Draco smiled, but Harry noticed that it was slightly forced.
“Let’s see what else you got,” Harry said, wanting to change the subject. Draco took notice of this and smiled to himself, glad for Harry’s sensitivity to others feelings. Harry picked up Seamus and Dean’s gift and made a face. “Hair gel? Do they really think you need more of this stuff?”
Draco snickered.
Just as Draco and Harry were gathering up Draco’s presents to bring upstairs (Dobby and Keiwi got Draco a pair of mismatched socks and mittens, Millicent got him a new scarf and green earmuffs, Hagrid gave him rock-hard homemade cakes which he didn’t eat, and Ginny and Cho got him cologne.), Dumbledore had suddenly appeared next to them.
“Excuse me, boys, but I do believe there is one last gift.” He handed Draco a small letter.
With one raised eyebrow, Draco took it from the Headmaster. He decided to read it out loud this time, despite what it could be, or if it was supposed to be kept secret.
“Dear Mr. Draco Malfoy, because of recent events, we are pleased to inform you that you are now the sole owner of the entire Malfoy estate and all of it’s possessions. Please come to the Ministry to sign a few papers after the holidays to make it official. Happy Holidays, Cornelius Fudge, Minister of Magic.”
“That’s wonderful!” Harry beamed.
“You know what this means, Harry? I’m the richest bastard in the whole school now!”
Harry chuckled, “Yes, you are. But don’t let it go to your head.”
“Who me? Would I ever do something like that?”
They both grinned, and then brought their presents up to their room.
~*~
The Holidays have come and gone, too quickly to the lover’s liking, but then they finally got a chance to go to Hogsmeade and be with Remus Lupin and Sirius Black as they planned. Draco had done his paper work right away at the Ministry, and when he returned, Harry was there waiting for him, and so was a warm bubble bath and a bottle of champagne.
It was almost Valentine’s Day too, and both Harry and Draco were sweating over what they should give each other. At first, Harry said that they sh jus just forget about it, since neither of them wanted candy or flowers, or anything cliché like that, but then Harry suddenly got an idea of what he was going to give Draco, and so he told his boyfriend that he had thought of something. Draco pouted and said that it wasn’t fair, since he hadn’t thought of anything to give him back, but Harry shook his head and told him not to worry about it if he couldn’t think of anything.
“But I want to get you something!” Draco huffed. “Remember, richest bastard? I can get you anything you want!”
“I really don’t want anything though, Draco.” Harry said, shuffling his feet. “I can’t think of anything either.”
“Well, I am getting you something. Or a bunch of somethings.” Draco smirked.
“No, one gift is fine.”
“Hmm. . . we’ll see.”
They made it to the appointed spot to meet Sirius and Lupin. At Remus’ feet, was a big black dog, also known as Snuffles. Lupin nodded at the two, eyeing Draco for a while, and then turned. “Follow me.”
The black dog turned instantly, as if obeying a master, and followed Lupin into The Three Broomsticks. The odd party continued its way toward the back of the room. Harry and Draco were at a loss with where they were going, but followed the ex-professor into a back room. Once everyone was inside, Lupin locked the door with a Locking charm, and thenioneioned for them to sit.
The small room was rather cozy looking, in Harry’s eyes, but Draco looked like he would rather be at Hogwarts than there.
Snuffles transformed back into human form, and then took a seat next to his godson. Harry smiled and wrapped his arms around Sirius in a big bear hug.
“Hey, hey, no lingering now.” Draco growled. Sirius let go of Harry, snickering silently.
“Possessive thing, your boyfriend.”
“Yes, he is.” Harry smiled over at Draco. “He’s good at that.”
“I bet he’s good at many things.”
Lupin smacked Sirius on the shoulder. “Don’t even go there!”
“I’m sorry. I was only teasing!” Then Sirius looked deadly serious at Draco, “You better be treating Harry right or I’m sicking my werewolf on you.”
Harry couldn’t help it and he burst out laughing. Lupin was chuckling softly too, as was Sirius, but Draco shook his head and muttered, “Fruitcakes, the lot of them. . .”
“So,” Si sai said, after they stopped laughing, “How’d you like our Christmas present?”
“Good.” Harry said, smiling. “I don’t think I’ll ever finish off the cases by myself, but I have Draco here to help me.”
Draco chuckled, “Butterbeer isn’t as good as firewhiskey, or home brewed mead, but I guess it’ll do.”
“Can’t be pleased easily, can he?” Sirius said, looking at Draco with one eye, “How do you put up with him?”
Harry shrugged his shoulders and tried to hide his amused smirk. “Honestly, I have no idea! But I think it has something to do with what I feel in here.” Harry tapped two fingers over his chest. He peered over at his boyfriend and winked. Draco, who was glaring slightly at the first thing that Harry said, suddenly went pink.
“So, tell us about what happened in your pensieve, Harry.” Sirius said. Lupin nodded his head in agreement.
“Okay, but it’s quite a story.”
“Good. We need somttertterbeers and mead then.” Lupin stood up and walked out the door, “Be back in a jiff.”
“Mead for me.” Draco called out. Sirius sighed and shook his head.
“So, how’ve you been, Sirius?” Harry asked his godfather. “I’m sorry that I haven’t been writing often.”
“It’s ok, Harry. I understand that you’ve been busy. . .” he looked over at Draco. “But honestly, Harry. . . a Malfoy? It’s your choice, but, I suppose as long as you’re happy and stuff. . . it was hard for Remus to believe it too, when I told him. As I understand though, you have some of Voldemort’s traits along with the parseltongue, right?”
“Right.” Harry nodded. “Determination, resourcefulness, um. . . disregard for rules. . .” Harry blushed.
Sirius nodded, “Yes, yes. . . the determination I can definitely see. It’s no wonder you bonded nicely with young Malfoy here. You’re both rather, um, compatible? Is that the word I want? Well, anyways, I’m happy for you, Harry.”
“Thanks.”
Draco was silently taking the conversation in. He suddenly felt honored to be with Harry, and that Sirius Black was taking it in stride. It gave him a very warm and safe feeling inside. He began to play with the silver band around his finger, thinking of it as an engagement ring.
Lupin returned with the drinks. He set a bottle of butterbeer in front of Harry, and gave Draco and Sirius their m. H. He himself had a bottle of butterbeer. He raised his bottle and smiled, “A toast, to Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy. . . may their love open eyes and bring about peace.”
“Here, here!” Sirius intoned. They all brought their bottles up and clanked them together. Sirius downed half of his bottle.
Harry stood up and raised his bottle of butterbeer again, “To the greatest godfather I could ever have, to the greatest teacher I ever had, and to the greatest and most supportive boyfriend I could ever, ever have!”
They stood, wide smiles planted on all of their faces. “To love!” Lupin crowed. “And us!”
“To love!” The rest cheered, toasting.
~TBC~
*sighs* Not over yet. . . not over yet. . . One more part *glares at muses* then it’s the sequel. *bangs head on desk* I tried, though. *sighs again*
