Chapter 19- The Reception
Hermione, Ginny, Harry and Lucius laughed as Narcissa got to her feet and rushed toward the bathroom. “I take it your revenge plot has succeeded,” Ginny grinned.
“I merely brewed the potion. It was Lucius who came up with the idea for a fertility potion,” Hermione said.
“Like I told Hermione, Severus got something out of Narcissa’s prank, so it was only fair I got something out of Hermione’s,” Lucius shrugged.
Narcissa came walking back over, looking a little green around the gills, but still composed. She glared at Hermione and Lucius as she sat back down. “I really hate you two. You know that,”
“Come on my love, you and I were talking about having another child. Even Poppy said your tests came back negative and now would be the perfect time,” Lucius replied as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
Narcissa couldn’t keep herself from smiling. “I know and I’m happy we’re having another child. I just hate the morning sickness that comes with it,”
“Well, I’ll brew a potion to help with that Narcissa,” Severus offered as he rejoined them with wine for Hermione and ale for himself. “Lucius, this was nice of you and Narcissa,”
“You two are welcome Severus. After all, what better excuse to throw a party than to celebrate a wedding,” Narcissa beamed.
Hermione and Severus’ reception was the grandest party Lucius and Narcissa had ever thrown. All the members of the Order and Hogwarts staff were there. The Potters, Neville and Luna Longbottom, and too many more of their friends for Severus to remember were present. There were potions Masters and Mistresses he hadn’t seen in nearly twenty years. The biggest surprise for the newlyweds was the arrival of Master Nikoli, who had come all the way from St. Petersburg.
“I am so happy for you Hermione. You and Severus are a perfect match,” Serigi said as he and Hermione danced.
“Severus and I are just so happy that you could be here Master Nikoli,” Hermione replied, kissing his cheek.
“I wouldn’t miss the celebration of the marriage of my two best apprentices,” Serigi laughed.

Severus stood across the ballroom with a soft, almost quaint smile on his face. Hermione laughed as Albus swept his bride across the dance floor. She wore a gown made of the fabric she bought in Cambodia. Just as he suspected, she looked ravishing in it.
“So, how does it feel to be a married man now?” Harry badgered, clapping his hand on the older wizard’s shoulder.
Severus looked down at his friend and smirked at him. “It feels…like I’m finally living,”
Harry nodded in agreement as he recalled his own feelings the day he married Ginny. “Believe me, I know the feeling old man. The day I married Ginny, all I could think of was now life starts getting good,”
Severus was feeling and had been feeling that very same way since he and Hermione spent that day in London together after she returned. He was greatly looking forward to spending the rest of his life with Hermione at his side.

Ron stood with Sirius at the bar. The year Voldemort was defeated; Sirius was fully exonerated by the Wizengamot. Since then, Sirius had enjoyed his freedom since the end of the war traveling the world with Remus. Remus was enjoying his own freedom. Two years after the war, Severus had found and brewed a cure for Lycropathy.
“They look so happy,” Remus smiled.
Ron nodded. “I agree. I’ve never seen Hermione as happy as she is with Severus,”
Sirius sighed softly as they watched the newlyweds. “I just wish I could find a woman that can accept me fully like Hermione accepts Severus,”
“You will Sirius. Look, you are finally able to live your life for the first time in a long time. You just need to be patient,” Remus said.
Sirius just nodded. With a quick smile and a wave, he headed for the backyard patio. Although he was enjoying being with his friends, Sirius felt like being alone. So far all of his male friends were either married or in a relationship of some kind.
Severus was married to Hermione, Albus had Minerva, Harry and Ginny, Remus was seeing a lovely witch named Monica and Ron was dating a fellow Ministry employee named Casey Silverton; not to mention Lucius had Narcissa.
Sirius was so deep in thought he didn’t see the woman till he ran into her. “Oh wow. I’m so sorry,"
“It’s alright. I wasn’t paying attention either,” the woman smiled.
“I’m Sirius Black. I don’t think I’ve met you before,” He replied, taking in her appearance.
“Rhonda. Rhonda Hitt. I’m Lucius’ cousin. Severus and I were friends when we were younger," Rhonda said.
“You went to Hogwarts?” He asked.
“Yes. I was in Hufflepuff and a year ahead of you with Lucius. I see you’re not the self centered, womanizing, immature boy I remember,” She answered.
Sirius simply shrugged. He couldn’t change the young man he had once been. All he could do was take those experiences from his youth, learn from them, and become a better person because of said experiences.
“I’ve tried to change. Would you like to take a walk? With me I mean. Lucius has a beautiful garden,” He questioned nervously.
Rhonda tapped a well manicured nail against her chin in contemplation. “Sure, why not?”
With a relieved smile, Sirius extended his arm to her. Rhonda returned the smile, looped her arm with his and the two headed off toward the magnificent gardens on the grounds of Malfoy manor. A large full moon lighting their way.

Hermione sighed tiredly as she entered the bedroom. She just smiled as her eyes locked onto Severus. He lay on his back, his hair fanned on the pillow beneath him and one arm flung across his stomach.
‘He’s so precious to me. I still can’t believe that we are finally together as husband and wife,’ She thought climbing into the bed beside him.
“You were staring wife,” He chuckled.
“You just look so cute sprawled out like that,” She said.
Severus pulled her tightly into his arms and kissed her forehead. Hermione curled up against him, her head resting over his heart. Within minutes both were sound asleep.
