The Alternative to Matrimony

Pansy and Ron were sitting in the gardens. Pansy with a book and Ron with the Daily Prophet. They had yet to marry, even thought Ron had been divorced for over a year. Their life was fine according to Pansy. Ron mentioned it once and said that all she had to do was tell him when she was ready. Until then he would consider her his secret fiancee. Ron knew she was afraid, but he said he would never pressure her and he never would. He would rather have her here with him in anyway she would stay.



“Master,” a house elf called, “Miss Granger.” They looked up as Hermione walked in with a case hanging on her shoulder. She threw herself into a chair.



“You’ll never believe it.” She told them.



Pansy and Ron looked at each other then back to Hermione. “Believe what?” Ron asked.



“Sara Lucas Weasley has asked me to draw up her pre marital contract.” Ron and Pansy gasped and leaned forward.



“Are you serious?” Pansy asked with huge eyes.



“Yes I am. She wants it to cover all grounds.” Ron laughed.



“I’m actually not surprised. She’s wife material and I knew she’d re-marry.” Ron said. Pansy had to agree. The woman was a born wife, to her it was a career.



“You’ll be surprised when you find out who see’s going to marry.” Hermione said with a glance away.



“Who?” Ron leaned forward again.



“Nereus Sunderson.” Hermione said.



“WHAT?!” Pansy yelled out. “She can’t. Does she know his history?” Ron loved how concerned she was. The woman tried to roast her in the media and she still felt for her. Sara should only be so lucky to know this.



“Yes, she does. That’s why she came to me to draw up the contract. Nereus can’t get himself a wife now, that’s to his previous contract showing up in the media. No woman would consider something like that. He needs a wife so she came up with the deal. It will make them seem as if they comforted each other during the split and fell in love. They both end up looking better and Sara does what she does best. Present a good image in public which he needs. The only way she would agree though was to have me draw up the contract. It is going to be much more iron clad then yours. Every detail is mapped out.”



“Unbelievable.” Pansy said. “Do you think she’s in danger?”



“Not this way. Behavior is in there. Even sex. She left nothing out this time around.” Hermione told them.



Silence held the gardens for a few minutes. “Well, I hope she knows what she’s doing.” Ron said.



Pansy couldn’t say anything. This was Sara’s decision. However she thought it was wise to have Hermione draft it this time.



When Hermione left, Ron looked to Pansy. Pansy knew what he was thinking. “Ron,” she took his hand, “why fix what’s not broken?” Ron smiled at her as she went back to her book. She did have a point.
