Chapter 17
While the two newly married couples celebrated in the age old way Bri found herself silently fuming as she walked towards Fred and George’s home slash business. As she stepped through Fred came out from behind the counter leaving George and his girlfriend to take care of the customers in the store as Fred led Bri upstairs above the store where their apartment was.
“You can take the guest room for now, I guess but you should probably look into renting an apartment or something while you’re here seeing as our family drops in all the time unannounced and I really don’t feel like subjecting you to them. No one should be subjected to them, I wish I wasn’t but I have no choice they’re my blood.”
“That’s fine, I like my privacy anyways.”
“Oh, ok…well, this is the guest room, its sort of set up for our little sister but you can change it around if you want.”
Bri stepped into the room and looked around with a grimace at the true proof of a teenage girl’s fascination with her ‘hero’. She turned back to Fred and said, “I hope your sister has no sudden inclination to come over because I’m so – redoing this room.”
“I don’t think she does, seeing as she’s busy with some new guy and being grossed by Ron and Luna, but just in case she’ll have to deal.”
As Bri started to unpack and Fred was leaving the room he turned around and shuffling his feet asked, “Um, Bri…”
“Yeah,” she replied while turning around to put something away.
“How do you feel about…um, maybe you know…going out with me…to eat you know…”
“For dinner? Yeah that’d be fun, plus I don’t know London well…that’d be easier for me to figure out the town, ya know?”
“Oh, yeah…right, ok?” he said and left the room with a slight hunch to his figure that the new American firecracker hadn’t noticed.
After a few hours Bri got settled and changed her room around so it represented a more self-assured, tough chick not afraid to fight for her beliefs or rights, independent thinker, not fooled by “Prince Charmingness” kind of feel, her kind of feel. George came to the door and said to give Fred about an hour before they went out and to have fun.
Bri being confused asked, “Wait I thought we all were going out?”
“Oh, we will one of these days, but I’m tired and Fred wanted to show you around…you know sort of like a welcome to my town date,” he said with a smirk and special emphasis on date that had Bri doing a double take when he walked away. Then silently screaming at herself for her idiocy.
A date? A date! She was going on a date! How the Hell did she get herself into these things? She fumed at herself. She called herself every foul name she could think of and ranted at herself.
“How the Hell…How the fucking Hell do I get myself into these things!” she kept thinking to herself.
Finally, as she paced past the full length mirror in the room for what must have been the millionth time. When it hit her she could go out with Fred, she could go out with a hot and funny guy, any guy in London and have fun without actually getting into a relationship or anything in the process. “While also learning the area just in case she ever found herself alone and she had to fight by herself, of course.” A hundred million, young, unmarried, successful women did it every day and night. If they could, she the sure the fuck could give it a try.
With this thought giving her the courage she needed to face her up and coming ‘date’ she took a deep breath and got to work deciding on an outfit for the evening. About two hours later it seemed found a nervous as hell Fred Weasley knocking on the now occupied guest room. As Fred nervously stood outside the door wiping his slightly sweaty hands on his pants and running commentary he could possibly use to break the ice through his head Bri was finalizing her appearance in the mirror.
She personally liked how she looked. She had chosen consciously one of her favorite outfits that made her feel sexy, but look deadly and confident as the same time. At the moment she felt she needed all the confidence building she could manage. Bri was trying so hard not to fall apart that she needed something that made her feel like she was in one indestructible piece and this outfit did that.
She wore her favorite True Religion Candice Wide Leg Denim jeans that fit her just right in all the right places. One of the new creations from the designer Chloe; which happened to be a light blue halterneck top with underbust detailing with a black, and a belted Tibor black leather trench coat over her outfit. Along with a pair of GFF (Gianfranco Ferre) black leather studded boots that had a strap design with studs, pointed toe and four inch stiletto heels to finish off the clothes portion of her look.
She also wore a 14 carat white gold trinity knot with diamonds pendant that had an eighteen inch chain. Her hair was down and flowing like she liked it. Plus the flowy look made her look sexy and confident when she did it right and tonight she was doing it right. As she checked herself over and checked that she had everything she would or might need for her night Fred began to worry that she had changed her mind. Just as he was going to knock and tell her it was alright if she changed her mind, the door opened and Fred lost his breath.
He stood there gaping for a moment before Bri’s voice broke into his fogged mind. She was asking where they were going. He replied that they were going to this awesome restaurant a few blocks away that made almost anything a person could think of and then if she was up to it they might go to this night club he knew.
Before they left the apartment Fred joked, “I know you run one of the most well known night clubs in the world, but this one isn’t to bad.”
Bri smiled and said, “I know, its okay. I love to enjoy myself at different clubs too.”
Once outside they went out back where Fred had a muggle car he liked to drive transfigured so no one would find it. They got in and were off. After about ten, fifteen minutes they pulled up outside this quaint but very nice restaurant called Enchanting Eats. As they stepped inside a nice young lady came forward to show them to their seats. Once seated they got some water and the girl asked what they would like for drinks Fred ordered some tea but Bri ordered some coffee. As the waitress went off to fulfill their drink order they sat around silently trying to think of something to talk about.
Finally, Fred coughed to clear his throat and asked, “So, how did you meet Charlie’s girl?”
“You mean Janet?”
“Yeah, he told us you two met at your school in Salem.”
“Well, what you have to understand first is in America we don’t split the kids into different houses. We’re just one school with the years split up in the dorm areas…”
“Okay? Well, how’d you meet?”
“I was an adventurous and opinionated child…”
“Oh, like you are now?” Fred joked.
“Yes, actually. Well one day when I was in second year, as I was riding home on the bus I heard this animal yipping as if in pain and before I could really stop myself I pulled the cord for the bus to stop and got off. I listened some more and followed the sounds until I reached this really beat up house and walked out back. There I found a man beat on a lunar wolf pup which looks like a normal puppy before it matures and as I was going to walk up to stop him another girl, Janet came out of the woods on the other side of the yard. We looked at each other and we formed a silent alliance and snuck up on the man from both sides and struck him with stunners. When he went down we grabbed the pup and ran into the woods. Well, in the woods we called to the mother and she came right out, took her pup back and licked our faces in thanks. From that day on me and Janet were best pals.”
By the end of this explanation Fred and Bri were laughing softly and after Fred caught his breath he said, “Your not joking are you? Didn’t your Magic Council or whatever catch you?”
“Well, yes they did but when we explained why we were let off with a warning.”
By this time their drinks had come so they sat taking sips from their drinks and looking through the menu for what to eat. After about ten, fifteen minutes maybe a bit more the waitress came back and got their orders. Bri ordered a grilled chicken panini with lettuce, cheese, tomato, and some onion with a potato soup full of veggies while Fred ordered a salmon pasta with veggies. While they ate Fred and Bri held a slow but smooth conversation about their lives and what was going on with the war and how they got involved, but every time Fred tried to ask about Draksin and his comments at Gringotts Bri changed the subject. Finally, they were done with their food, they paid and left for the club which was only a couple blocks away.
When they got their Bri had to smirk and tell Fred that she knew this club’s owner he was a good friend. They were at Grand Night which was a muggle club, but witches and wizards were known to come here too. When the bouncer noticed Bri he smirked and told them to go right in and they headed right for a back area away from the music and noise so they could sit and take off their coats.
Then they headed right on out to the dance floor to have fun. They danced through Rihanna’s Disturbia, Hilary Duff’s Play With Fire, and into Trouble by Bonnie McKee. After a few more songs that they couldn’t identify at the time they sat down to cool off and get some drinks of cold water. Suddenly Bri stopped in the middle of what she was telling Fred and stood up.
Fred, “Bri, something wrong?”
“Nothing. I just need to go out for some air I’ll be right back, promise.”
“Okay? You want me to come with you?”
“No! No, what I mean is I’ll be right back no need to worry,” and with that she was off towards the back exit. Once outside she found who or what she was looking for a few feet away already feeding on an almost passed out girl about 20 or so.
She walked up and tapped his shoulder saying, “So, this is what I find you doing when your supposed to be home with the kids while I’m not with my girlfriends. I’m really hoping you at least got a babysitter before you found this tramp. Oh, by the way Honey get yourself a damn good lawyer, we’re divorced.”
By now the vampire had turned around with an evil grin letting the passed out girl fall to the ground and said, “Yes, Honey whatever you say. Don’t worry I called my father to watch the kids, Darling.” With this said he lunged towards Bri with a yell. Bri prepared herself for the impact and the fight began. When she kicked the vampire into the wall she grabbed a piece of wood she found and staked him. As he turned to dust he said, “You’re exactly like Blade said…attracted to the Dark but to proud to succumb to your real side.”
Just as Bri was getting ready to go back into the club she heard someone clear their throat and whirled around to find Fred standing there. Before she knew what was going on she was pulled into Fred’s arms and she found herself dropping her weapon slowly from her clenched fist and grabbing on to him silently crying into his shoulder while he whispered kind and calming words to her.
After Bri calmed down Fred led her to the car letting her sit inside while he got their coats and drove silently back to the apartment just letting Bri get a hold of herself. Once back she went straight to her room and Fred woke George to talk to him.
While the two newly married couples celebrated in the age old way Bri found herself silently fuming as she walked towards Fred and George’s home slash business.
