Chapter XX

~*~---~*~--*--~*~---~*~---~*~----~----~*~----~----~*~---~*~--~*~--*--~*~---~*~

Lovely Reviewers:

Hilda Malfoy - No worries about Lu getting her back. He was always going to have her. Lucius can cry if he wants to. Lucius is troubled. He needs desserts. Or drinks...hehe.

morgana - I love that movie and book. One of my childhood favorites. Just needed to toss it in there. Though I must say that the prince's name in that movie always disturbed me a bit.

VoraciousReader - Of course, he is. The only good Weasley is Bill. And let's face it, he is a curse-breaker...and that just rocks...plus the boots and the long hair and the dragon fang earring...he is a looker!

Heidi191976 - The wait was short.

trippingEYES - Most people don't like Ron...hehe...expecially if they are reading the Lumione or SS/HG or RL/HG or Dramione persuasion.

sinbad - Slytherins needs hugs! LUCIUS is unusually devious...he needs hugs from his many fans!

margaritama - Yes, Lucius is a delicate man. He needs hugs! I am just the girl to give them to him! hehe. Hermione is annoying. You surely read the first book. I wanted to push her into Neville's cauldron in that book.

Lauriurix - CHEER FOR LUCIUS! He is our Slytherin Bad-boy Hottie! Read on to discover the many inner workings of Hermione's mind.

HermioneMalfoyFan - Getting needy there, aren't you? The chapter was short, and I can't promise this one is different on that count. But...I shall leave you to your reading now...I assume me carrying on would get to be annoying when you want to read, huh? Wouldn't it?

Hermione stood on a wooden stool in the too long and too wide wedding robes. She had no money to buy new ones, and neither did her fiancé’s family. But she knew that going in. And now she stood while Molly and Ginevra Weasley circled her like buzzards modifying bits of the robes.

Hermione just stared straight ahead into the mirror.

Why would anyone have picked the cheap, itchy cotton for something that they would wear all day? Why would they have all the layers of low quality lace that was snagged and torn in places? And moreover, why did the dress have green stains on the backside of it?

“You’ll be the most talked about bride this century, my dear,” Molly said, smiling as she thought of how all women marrying Weasley men had been asked to wear the dress. She frowned when she remembered Fleur’s obstinate refusal to not ‘être capturé mort’ wearing such a ‘une robe affreuse.’ “Both being who you are, dearie.”

Hermione hopped down from the stool.

“Hermione, Love. What are you doing? Come to me.”

Hermione hopped down from the stool.

Hermione clapped her hands over her ears. It was Lucius’ voice again. Calling to her. Wanting her to come to him.

“Hermione, Love. Come to me.”

“We’ll give you a few minutes to yourself before the ceremony,” Ginny said, taking her mother’s arm and walking out.

Hermione sat back on the stool. She plucked at the frilly monstrosity. What the hell was she doing?

Lucius swirled a brandy around in his glass. It mattered very little that it was only two minutes after nine in the morning.

What was it with Gryffindors and keeping their word even to the point of causing self misery?

No Slytherin would dream of doing something so idiotic, not even Goyle or Crabbe. And they were a wood and core short of a wand.

If she wanted to play rough Quidditch, he was more than good enough, especially considering that she was – afraid – of – heights.

Gryffindors never learned not to play with the big wizards.

Hermione stared at herself in the mirror and sighed before reaching behind herself and began to remove the wedding robes.

WHOOSH!

Soot flew out of the fireplace and coated the wedding robes she was wearing as a shining white patronus swam about her. The head and torso of a large, cold-blood horse with a long flowing tail like a mermaid. It swam about her tossing its large head and snorting into her poorly done up hair knocking it completely loose so it swirled around her face.

“Love,” the magnificent animal whispered next to her ear as it nuzzled her throat.

Hermione grabbed her wand and thought of how she felt when she discovered that Lucius had been on their side the whole time.

A similar animal burst from the tip of her wand only with a smaller more delicate looking head with large ears. The patroni swam about each other before disappearing in a shower of white sparkles around Hermione.

Hermione tore the dress off and grabbed a pair of jeans and a jumper from her trunk. She quickly pulled on the more comfortable and better fitting clothing.

She walked over to the desk, and she sat down at it.

“MEOW,” Crookshanks mewed as she scribbled a note.

She held her necklace, the one that Lucius gave to her in her hand as she straightened the wedding robes on the Chudley Cannons comforter. She folded the square of parchment and stood it up on the dress.

“I’m sorry, Ron. I tried to tell you. You just didn’t listen,” she said to herself as she waved her wand about herself casting an invisibility spell.

She crept down the stairs.

“Where are you going, Hermione?” a soft voice asked as she opened the door.

“Harry,” Hermione said, turning around but not making herself visible.

“Hermione,” Harry said, crossing his arms.

“I’ve tried so many times to tell Ron that I don’t want to marry him. I have to go where my heart desires me to,” Hermione said.

“To Malfoy?” Harry asked.

“Yeah, to Lucius,” Hermione said. “He is the one whose kiss awakened me.”

“Are you sure? I mean he is Malfoy’s dad.”

“I’m sure, Harry,” Hermione said, and she walked up and hugged him.

“I hope it goes well. I’m not happy that you’re taking Malfoy over Ron. But it’s not my life and not my decision.”

“Thank you Harry,” Hermione said kissing his cheek. “Tell Ron that I am sorry.”

“I’ll let him know that you left, but the rest is up to you. He’s a forgiving sort. After a long, long, long, long time. Give him some time, and it’ll be fine.”

“Bye,” Hermione whispered.

She walked out onto the porch and concentrated on Malfoy Manor. With a crack like thunder, she dis-apparated.

Hermione looked up at the large white doors of the mansion.

"Hello, my dear," Lucius said, from a chair off to the side.

"Lucius," Hermione said.
