Chapter 20
The next morning they all got up and ready for the viewing.
After a tiring day of greeting mourners, and explaining Ruthie, and Severus they came home to eat. Again they ordered out because no one wanted to cook. That night after Hermione put Ruthie to bed, she and Severus sat on the couch.
“I’ll have to sit my NEWTS when this is all over.” Hermione said
“You’ll still get high scores on them.”
“I’m not even sure they matter anymore. There’s nothing left here for me, but Ruthie.” She said close to tears.
“What of your friends?”
“They have each other. I’m only good for the research, and I can do that from anywhere.”
“Are you planning on leaving then?” He asked turning away to shield the hurt look on his face.
“I’m not sure what I’m going to do.”
“He will find you Hermione, no matter where you go, he’ll still find you and her.”
“What should I do then Severus? I’m not safe being here, I’m not safe if I leave. I don’t know what to do anymore.”
“Stay with me.” He said quietly.
Hermione looked at him, “Really Severus?” She asked with hope.
“Yes, I’ll take care of you, and Ruthie.”
“Are you doing this because of him, or for us?”
“Damn you Hermione! I’m not a man to share my feelings.” He shouted and she shrank away. “I care for the two of you so much that the thought of you leaving hurts.”
“Thank you Severus.” She leaned over to kiss him. As the kisses grew more heated he stopped her.
“Are you expecting anyone?”
“No”
“Is anyone going to stop to check up on you?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Well just to be safe.” He said and placed a locking spell on the doors to the house, so they wouldn’t be interrupted this time.

Thanks to those who have reviewed. I get all giddy inside when I read the reviews... I'm sorry about the shortness of this chapter. We all have colds, and my youngest has an ear infection in both ears. I promise that we'll finally have some Hermione/Severus action.....lol
