Lentesco – Chapter Twenty

Lucius was sick of being followed by the American boy. Wherever he was, out of lessons, there the annoying brat was. If it hadn’t been for the fact that Lucius already had a revenge planned, and that he already knew the boy was dying (slowly and painfully he hoped) he would have jinxed him. Still, it made it annoying, as the curse required certain difficult conditions to be met first, which meant trailing Severus, and having to put up with Aidan trailing him.

He carried the book with him in his bag, magically shrunk and transfigured, so even if someone did come across it, it would look merely like a quill case. Which was all well and good, but it meant he had to be private when changing it back to normal, something which was damn near impossible with that annoying brat following him around.

Aidan was, at that very moment, sitting in one of the boys’ toilets, reading the book Lucius thought safely hidden in his bag. He had been watching Malfoy so closely that over a number of days he had been able to first discover what the book was disguised as, and then how to change it back to normal.

Flicking through the pages, his eyes widened in amazement, and in horror at some of the hexes contained within the cracked leather binding. He was staring at one for long moments, eyes blank as he imagined the effects of the spell.

His mind drifted. He had been at Hogwarts for twenty-eight days already. Everything felt so comfortable that he didn’t want to go back, especially not knowing what was waiting for him.

Finally shaking himself, he carried on searching, he had to find something important.
