Countdown to Hogwarts

Chapter 20 Countdown to Hogwarts

The next thing anyone knew, it was two days before going back to Hogwarts. The month had flown by in a haze. Hermione had pracitcally perfected her wandless magic to the point that she had tried been able to do unforgivables on the rodent population Crookshanks found throughout the gardens. She had also greatly progressed with finding magical traces. It had taken her almost two weeks to be able to tell each wizard's magical signature, and now she knew those of almost everyone who came to Grimmauld Place on a regular basis. She was now working on the signatures of particular spells. She had been called to the Dark Lord two more times, after which she went to "entertain" Malfoy.

Hermione was eating breakfast when the Daily Prophet arrived. When she read the front headline, she gasped before sitting down and reading the article. Inwardly she was smiling, but on her face was a frown that got deeper the more she read. Harry and Ron were looking on interestedly. Well, she now had an answer as to why there was an extreme lack of adult supervision this morning. When she finished the article she put the paper down, sighing again while she shook her head.

"What is it, Hermione?" asked Harry. In response she handed over the paper. The large headline read "MORE DEATH EATERS ESCAPE AZKABAN". The story then went on to how the five that had been captured a month ago were now free, as well as most that were sent to prison after the incident at the Ministry.

"It only took a month this time. The security there must be getting worse by the day," Hermione commented wryly.

"I guess that's why there's no one here," said Harry, mirroring her earlier thoughts. A large portion of the rest of the day was spent listening to the two of them complain about the escape while she tried to make sure that they had finished all of their summer homework. Eventually a few Order members dropped through, looking extremely tired. They were able to discern that the new guards had been ambushed by a 'large group' of Death Eaters, two of the guards had been killed and one other severely hurt, whereas the others were all stunned. They knew the identities of at least six of the Death Eaters involved, including Draco Malfoy (Ron cursed loudly) and Bellatrix Lestrange.

That night when she was summoned, she was a little surprised, as she had thought that with His other servants back, He would be busy. When she arrived she was only in his presence for a few minutes before being dismissed to Malfoy's rooms. He had given her a task for when she got to Hogwarts. He had been the only one who knew about her study of traces, despite the fact that she was always studying the books in front of Harry and Ron and He was quite happy by it. Since she was Head Girl, she would have her own room with a bathroom shared with the Head Boy. She was to break down the wards in the bathroom, and set her own so as to allow people to apparate in and out of the space. It was going to be a hard task.

When nobody answered her knock at Malfoy's rooms she let herself in to find that he wasn't there. She took off her robes, set the alarm, and laid down in the bed. She thought that it was cold without him in it, but she fell asleep soon enough.

At a quarter past six in the morning, Malfoy arrived to his chambers accompanied by his mother. "There's someone in your bed, Draco."

He glanced over, and seeing Hermione wrapped up in his blankets, he smirked. He shrugged his shoulders as he answered. "That'll happen, Mother."

"Well, I guess I'll leave you and Pansy alone." At that moment Hermione rolled around in her sleep, the covers slipping off her face. "That's not Pansy."

"That'll also happen, Mother." Seeing the look on his mother's face he felt the need to put her at ease. "Mother, I'm still going to marry Pansy and have all the Pureblood little grandchildren you and her parents have always wanted.... so long as you've only ever wanted two. This is just sex, there's no need to worry."

"I suppose you're right. She has proven herself to the Dark Lord, and its not like she can get pregnant and trap you into anything."

He rolled his eyes at her as he responded. "Mother, she wouldn't do that anyway, and you overanalyze everything. Now, if you can leave..."

"Alright, darling. Just... be careful." The noise of the door clicking closed awoke the sleeping woman, who looked up and smiled.

"Good morning, Granger."

Her eyes darted to the clock, a look of relief passing through her face as she realized it was only around six thirty. "Good morning yourself. How's your mother?"

At this comment he was worried that she had been awake for the conversation, despite the fact that everything he had said was true. "How do you know about her?"

She moved over onto her side, propping her head up with her elbow as she rolled her eyes. "Well, other than it was on the front page of the Daily Prophet this morning, I live at the headquarters for the Order of the Phoenix, remember? Which reminds me, I didn't get the chance to tell the Dark Lord that they know the names of at least six of the people involved. Including you." She nodded her chin towards him as she spoke the last sentance.

"Oh, well. It's not as though they didn't want to find me before this. But I have much more important things to worry about right now."

"Really? Like what?"

"Like the fact that you're going to leave in twenty five minutes."

At that, Hermione got out of the bed and spelled off all of their clothes. "Well, then. Mister Malfoy, what is your pleasure this morning?" She walked toward him sashaying her hips until she was directly in front of him.

"My pleasure is to be inside you." He grabbed her by the waist and walked her backward until she was where he wanted.

"Then I guess we'll have to see if we can make that happen," the smirk heard in her voice. Before either of them had a chance to speak again, he had lifted her so she was sitting on the edge of his desk. He placed himself at her entrance and slammed into her. She cried out at the intrusion but quickly joined his fast rythm driving him deeper and deeper into her.

It was over almost as quickly as it had begun, both panting and gasping for air. As she moved across him to put her clothes back on, he slapped her bare ass. She turned her head around and stuck out her tongue. When she was clothed she came back to where he was sitting on the desk. She kissed him with a passion he had never experienced from her. Or Pansy, for that matter. When she finally pulled away he told her to have fun at school and she was gone.

The rest of the day was mostly filled with last minute things preparing to go back to Hogwarts. They had a large dinner with many of the Order and all of the Weasleys. Ginny was being allowed to go back to school, but she had to have her own room and was expected to show up at the hospital wing once in the morning and once in the night. If there was any indication that she was headed towards another breakdown she was going to be pulled from school. Ginny herself wasn't aware of the last part, as all the adults involved believed rightly that if she did, she would hide any signs of such an incident and it would be worse for her mental health.

As they had at the beginning of fifth year, they took the Tube to King's Cross. This time, though, Padfoot wasn't with them, and Harry looked a bit forlorn thinking about it. Harry, Ron and Ginny found the car where Luna and Neville were already settled in and made themselves comfortable for the ride as well.

Hermione, meanwhile, went to the prefects car where she would meet with the prefects as well as the Head Boy and decide on a rotation to patrol the train and go over their responsibilities for the start-of-term feast. Opening the door to the car, she walked smack into Blaise Zabini, sporting this years Head Boy badge.
