Summary: It’s the gang’s 7th year. The war against Voldemort has become personal. Not just for Harry, but for Hogwarts favorite Potions Master, Severus Snape. With the start of a new years comes new trials and tribulations for everyone at Hogwarts. Will the gang be able to finally defeat Voldemort and live normal lives? Read and find out.

Chapter 17

Finally Friday came. After lunch Hagrid, Minerva and Remus quickly escorted the younger students and those who were not fighting to the train. The rest of the students, professors and Order of the Phoenix members were assembled in the Great Hall. Once Hagrid, Minerva and Remus returned Albus spoke.

“Now, Voldemort will attack at sundown. The aroras and Order members will be outside ready to alert us. The D.A. and those students who are fighting will remain here till it’s time to head for the battlefield. The professors will be patrolling the castle. Everyone has their roles they will play. I suggest we all take the next few hours to prepare. No students are to leave this castle. Dismissed.” Albus instructed.

Everyone left the hall. Severus and Hermione headed for the Astronomy Tower. They smiled as they saw Harry, Millicent, Neville, Padma, Ron, Hannah, Balise, Parvati, Ginny and Jonathon heading for Gryffindor Tower. They reached the Astronomy Tower and stood at the window, watching the aroras and Order members patrolling the grounds below.

“I’m so scared Hermione.” Severus said.

“I know. Right now, let’s just focus on doing our job.” Hermione said.

Hermione wrapped her arms around his waist and laid her head against his heart. Severus in turn wrapped his arms around her shoulders and rested his head a top of hers. They stood there holding each other for quite a while, both savoring the peaceful moment.

An hour before sunset, everyone who was fighting gathered in the main hall before the large double doors. Suddenly a bang was heard outside. This was it. Everyone made their way to the grounds.

“Stay close to me Hermione.” Severus said as he and Hermione moved into position.

They were standing beside Ron, Ginny, Jonathon, Tonks, Minerva, the rest of the Order of the Phoenix, members of the Ministry of Magic and all of their allies. Before them stood Harry, Ron, Remus, Sirius and Albus.

“I love you Severus.” Hermione said.

Severus gathered her into his arms and kissed her. The battle began. Severus and Hermione began throwing hexes, curses, and every spell they could think of. Severus caught movement from the corner of his eye.

“Hello traitor.” Avery said menacingly.

“Avery.” Severus hissed.

Avery began to move Severus and himself away from Hermione. Severus then remembered his premonition.

“Avada Kedavra!” Severus yelled.

Avery fell to the ground dead. Severus felt Hermione grab his hand. She was alive. Then she spotted Draco Malfoy.

“Hello mudblood.” Draco hissed.

“Go to hell Malfoy.” Hermione snarled.

Before Draco even moved, Hermione and Severus yelled the killing curse. Draco fell to the ground. Severus and Hermione together had stopped his first premonition of Hermione dieing in the final battle. There was only one more left. For three hours the battle continued. Now was the moment of truth. Severus, Hermione, Albus, Sirius, Remus and Ron were standing behind Harry who was facing Voldemort.

“It’s time Potter.” Voldemort said.

“Let’s finish this.” Harry said.

“Avada Kedavra!” Voldemort and Harry yelled.

The two curses collided. A blinding white light surrounded everyone. When everyone could see again, Harry and Voldemort’s wands were connected by a golden light. One by one the six added their own killing curse to Harry’s. A second later, Voldemort gave a blood curdling scream. There was a massive earth shattering explosion that threw everyone back a good twenty feet.

“You’re luck Albus. That explosion actually knocked down the entire Astronomy Tower!” Poppy said.

Severus could barely make out Poppy’s words as he began to come around. All around him he could hear voices. Slowly he opened his eyes.

“Ugh.” Severus groaned as he tried to sit up.

“Ah, I see you’re awake my boy.” Albus said as he moved to Severus’s bedside.

“Hermione! Albus where is she?” Severus demanded fearfully.

“Calm down. She’s in a private room. Poppy just came from seeing her. She’s fine. A few bumps and bruises, but she’s fine.” Albus answered gently.

“When can I see her?” Severus asked as relief washed over him.

“As soon as she awakens. Here, take this.” Poppy answered.

Severus drank the headache potion and laid back down. He couldn’t believe it. Hermione was alive. They all were. They had stopped the premonition.

“Voldemort is dead?” Severus questioned.

“Yes. He’s gone forever.” Albus answered.

“Who did we lose?” Severus asked.

“A few Aurors, Mad-Eye Moody and Kingsley Shacklebolt.” Albus answered sadly.

Severus closed his eyes as he remembered his fellow Order members. Throughout the day Harry, Millicent, Ron, Ginny, Minerva, Remus, Sirius, Katrina and Balise came to see him.

“I hear Hermione is going to be all right.” Balise said.

“Yes. Poppy says I can see her once she wakes up.” Severus replied.

“That’s wonderful. I still don’t understand how you all survived. Minerva said no one should have survived but you seven did.” Katrina said.

“Severus, Hermione’s awake and wants to see you.” Poppy said.

Severus got to his feet and rushed to Hermione’s room. He took a deep breath and entered. He found her sitting up reading the Daily Prophet. She looked up as he entered and smiled. He rushed to her and wrapped his arms around her waist and cried.

“Sshh. Everything’s fine. You’re finally free Severus.” she said as she stroked his hair.

“I was so scared. Scared my second premonition would come true.” he sobbed.

“I know. I know why we all survived.” she said.

“H…how?” he asked.

“It seems that our son or daughter prefers to have both of his or her parents. As well as our friends.” she answered with a smile.

“Our…our…you mean…you’re…we’re…” he stuttered.

“That’s right. Poppy told me right after I was brought in. I woke up for a few minutes. You were still unconscious.” Hermione said.

Severus couldn’t believe it. He was going to be a father. He sat beside his wife, took her in his arms and kissed her. He couldn’t remember when he had been so happy. They decided to keep the news of the baby a secret. Three days later the students returned for the end of the year feast. The mood around Hogwarts was jovial. Their world was finally free at last. The morning of the feast, Hermione was finally released. The students had returned the night before.

“Welcome back. As you all have heard, Lord Voldemort has successfully been defeated. Our world is once more free.” Albus announced at the start of the feast.

The students and faculty clapped and cheered. After a few minutes the hall fell silent once more.

“Now, let us eat and celebrate.” Albus said happily.

The hall was filled with chatter, laughter, and the clanking of silverware. Hermione sat with her housemates that night. As she ate, laughed and talked, she looked up and watched her husband.

“Wow, I can’t help but notice that Professor Snape looks so much younger now.” Parvati commented.

“Well, now that he’s finally free, he can live his life.” Harry said.

“Yeah. Finally, we are all free to live our lives.” Hermione added.

Dinner lasted for over two hours. Finally, Albus got to his feet. The hall fell silent once more.

“Now, it’s time to announce the winner of the House Cup. In fourth place with 492 points, is Hufflepuff. Third place with 520 points is Ravenclaw. Second place goes to Slytherin with 545 points. And in first place is Gryffindor with 550 points.” Albus announced.

Everyone clapped and cheered. Once more they fell silent as Albus once more called for silence.

“Tonight we celebrate our freedom. Let us raise our glasses in a toast. To those who fought, survived, and those who fought and gave us the greatest sacrifice. Their lives for our freedom. To Freedom!” Albus said.

“To Freedom!” everyone yelled.

As everyone sat back down, Hermione remained standing and walked up to the staff table and stood beside her husband.

“I believe Professor Snape and his wife have an announcement to make. Professor Snape.” Albus said.

“Thank you headmaster. Students, faculty, and friends. Hermione and I have, perhaps the happiest news for us and we would like to share it now. We are expecting a baby!” Severus announced.

The hall erupted then. Everyone was clapping and cheering. Severus and Hermione faced each other and kissed tenderly. It was a good ten minutes before everyone finally settled down.

“Now, let us all turn in. We have a busy day tomorrow with getting you all home. Sleep well.” Albus said.

Slowly everyone filed out. After congratulating the happy couple. An hour later found Severus and Hermione sitting in their sitting room with Oron.

“Oron, we have some good news.” Hermione said.

“Whats is it?” Oron asked.

“Well, Severus and I are going to have a baby.” Hermione answered happily.

“Oh Master Severus, Mistress Hermione! This is wonderful news! I’s so happys fors yous!” Oron cried as he hugged them.

That night there was a sense of peace and serenity throughout the castle. The next morning, the students sat scattered throughout the Great Hall. Excited and sad to be ending another year. After a long, leisurely breakfast, everyone but Hermione boarded the train.

“Come see us you two!” Ginny called from the window.

“We will!” Severus yelled back.

“Stay in touch!” Harry cried as the train began to pull away.

“We promise!” Hermione yelled.

The two continued to wave till the train was out of sight. The pair began to head back to the castle.

“Well, Mrs. Snape, ready to start building our new life and family?” he asked.

“Yes Mr. Snape. I can’t wait.” she answered.

Hand-in-hand they walked back to Hogwarts and the fresh start on life.
