Chapter 20

Remus, Severus, and Sirius were sitting in Madam Bones’ office, waiting for her to return from the archives. She had gone down to get Dudley’s birth record, and to see what else she could find. They had been sitting there in silence for about half an hour, “Remus, you have a son,” Sirius said.

Remus looked over at his lovers, “I’m still in shock. I don’t remember Petunia. I’m sure that this will make more sense after Madam Bones removes my memory charm.”

Severus leaned forward and grabbed their hands. “No matter what, I am glad that we have had some time together.”

Remus just looked at the two men. “Why would you think that we won’t have more time together?”

Sirius looked at Severus, “Well, if when you get your memories back you don’t want to continue this relationship, we’ll understand.”

Madam Bones shuffled through the door a handful of parchment in her hand. “Well, I found his birth record, Petunia’s school records, and some of an account set up for Dudley at Gringotts; I just grabbed everything with any of the three names on them.”

She looked at the three men, “I’ll start by removing the memory charm from Professor Snape, then Sirius, and finally Remus. That way if it’s too much for him, he’ll have the two of you to help him.” She pulled out her wand and waved it at Severus.

It felt as if a light came on, Severus thought. He remembered Petunia, she and her sister were so much alike. Not in looks, but in attitude. To them, it didn’t matter what house you were in. Petunia was in Hufflepuff, Lily in Gryffindor, but they both had friends from all houses, Severus was friends with both of them. Then he remembered why they had been Obliviated.

She waved her wand at Sirius and quietly spoke the incantation. He felt like he had been hit with a bludger, he remembered everything. How they had all been friends, how Petunia had begged Remus to have a child with her, so that his family line wouldn’t die out. Even knowing that Remus was in love with Sirius and Severus, she loved him and would have done anything for him. Then he remembered Severus barging into the house and telling them what had gotten them Obliviated.

She aimed her wand at Remus and spoke the spell that would release his memories. They ran through his mind like a Muggle film. All of the things that they had done together and how she had talked him into having a child to continue his line. He had known that she was in love with him, and she had told him that she didn’t mind that he didn’t love her that way. Then Severus running into the house right after they had found out that she and Lily were pregnant. Remus jumped up from the chair, “Voldemort was working for Dumbledore!” he shouted.


Bill asked the goblins about the vaults. They were more willing to cooperate since he worked for the bank. He went to Petunia’s vault, finding her wand and all of her school books. The vault was quite interesting, things from her school days, furniture from what must have been from her first apartment in the wizarding world, and photo albums. Bill shrunk a bunch of the albums and put them in his pocket. He visited Dudley’s vault and collected some galleons for the boy. He left the vault and headed back to Godrics Hollow.

Molly had apperated directly to the ministry. She was determined to get Dudley enrolled in Hogwarts, so she figured that she would speak with some of the people that she knew. When she had talked to them all, and been assured that when the time came, he would be attending Hogwarts. They had even arranged for him to be tested in the last week of August, for placement.


Severus extracted his memories and placed them in the pensieve with Sirius’ and Remus’ memories. Madam Bones touched her wand to the shimmering silver liquid to watch.


“Master, how are we going to find them?” Wormtail asked.

“Severus is hiding with them, I am sure of it. I believe that he has the Weasleys with him; they don’t have their memories, so they are not that much of a threat. We will take care of them when the semester begins.”
