Chapter Eighteen
Chapter Eighteen
Hermione went back to the beach house the next day to try to explain to Kat what had happened to Draco. She told her what Albus had told her about him and his mother getting out of the manor right before the house exploded, and that they were both alive. And also why the fact that they were alive, was kept froem. em. To insure that they were safe.
“Were you able to tell him about me?” Kat asked.
Hermione brushed a stray blonde hair behind Kat’s ear. “I tried honey, but he’s angry. Angry at me. He wouldn’t listen to anything I had to say.”
Katrina had let the topic rest, as she could see her mother was still upset and confused. She was very curious though. Why was her father mad at her mother? She didn’t think he had any reason to be mad, he wasn’t around. If anything, it should be her mother angry at him. She could see that her mother still had feelings for him, and thought that she might try to do a little matchmaking of her own. She smiled to herself, plans forming in her mind.
Over the following months, Hermione’s friends and family were there for her and left her alone when she wanted to be alone. Her thoughts had always returned to Draco. During her June cycle she spent it alone, with Severus giving her an extra strong potion, where she ended up exhausting herself in the fitness room and in the swimming pool. Then she would fall deeply asleep to start the process again and again for the next four days.
After Mya’s and Lily’s Potter’s birthday, Hermione decided to go on a shopping trip. Ginny tagged along with her and Katrina to help pick out Hermione’s school clothes. They went to muggle London first where they went in dress shop after dress shop. Hermione ended up having a very good time. This is what she needed.
She stood in front of the mirror in a long grey skirt and blouse. “You know Hermione, this year, the Professors and seventh years don’t have to wear uniforms. Who says anywhere that you have to cover everything up, or that you have to wear a skirt?” Ginny stated.
Hermione looked at the mirror again and made a face at herself. “You’re right. Let’s try a few other things shall we.” She laughed.
A few changes later, Hermione came out in a mid-thigh slim fit ski skirt in grey, with a pink blouse. “Now that‘s better ‘Mione. Kat maybe get that black blouse that we were looking at, okay?” Ginny asked.
“Sure thing Aunt Gin, be right back.” Katrina said as she walked back to the shirt rack.
Ginny looked to Hermione. “Hermione, do you still love him?”
Hermione’s smile slid away. “Yes, I do, but he doesn’t want me anymore Gin.”
“Did he say that?”
“No.”
“Well. Make him realize his feelings for you. Turn him on so mucere ere he forgets the other stuff.”
Hermione smirked. “Are you saying I should seduce him?”
“Well.....yeah. But gradually. Let him see what he’s missing first.” Ginny smirked.
“Oh Gin. You are clever, aren’t you.” She bit her bottom lip. “Do you think it will work?”
“I honestly can’t say for sure ‘Mione, but it’s worth a shot if it does work.” Ginny paused. “And besides, there’s people who would help you.”
“Like who?”
“Well there’s Harry....and me.”
“You?”
“Yes. I’ll be helping out in the infirmary until the twins are old enough to go to a wizard’s play school.”
“Oh Gin, that’s great. It will almost be like old times there.” Hermione smiled.
“Here’s the black blouse mum, and I found these shoes too to try.” Kat said holding up the three inch heels.
Ginny and Hermione smirked at each other. “Looks good honey. Thanks.” Hermione said.
They spent most of the day shopping for clothes and lingerie for Hermione and new clothes for Katrina. Arms laden down with bags they made it to the Leaky Cauldron where they magically shrunk their purchases and made their way to get Katrina’s school supplies in Diagon Alley.
They first picked out her wand from Ollivander’s, then her quills, ink and books. They also picked up a tawny owl for Kat. After literally dragging Hermione and Kat out of the bookstore they went to visit Fred and George at their joke shop, where they sat and had tea and laughed until their cheeks hurt. They made one last stop at the ‘Quality Quiddich Supplies’ where Ginny bought Katrina a ‘Chudley Cannon’s’ sweatshirt.
Katrina had managed to take Ginny aside while her mother was busy talking to an old school chum. “Aunt Gin, could you do me a favor?”
“Sure Kat, what is it?”
“I need you to buy a picture frame for me.”
“Why?”
“I want to sent a picture of mum and dad to him, without neither of them knowing it was me who sent it.”
Ginny smirked. “Hmm. That’s a good idea. I would use the New Years picture.”
“That’s the one I was planning on.” She whispered conspirately.
“What are you two whispering about?” Hermione smiled as she walked up to them.
“We were just discussing what to get Uncle Harry for his birthday.” Kat said. “I was thinking this new book on ‘FamWitcWitches and Wizard’s of Quiddich.’
“Yes. Harry would probably like that.” Hermione said thoughtfully. “I think I’ll get him a new quill for his desk. Imagine both of us professors, it’s kind of exciting.” She smiled, not noticing that Ginny winked to Katrina.
After a ‘very’ long day, the three of them headed homewards. Each thinking of ways to get Draco and Hermione back together.
