Forging Ties
Normality
Harry woke to the sound of someone humming. He looked and saw Draco humming and rocking their daughter. Harry smiled. He couldn’t be happier. He had a boyfriend who loved their daughter, and hopefully him. He had his own little family and adopted family members who were there for him. He would get to finish school, and the world was slowly returning to normal. Harry watched Draco and Evie. He absolutely loved the sight before him. Draco was so tender with her and was always kissing on her or snuggling her. Harry could have watched them forever, but his stomach had other plans. It let out a loud grumble. Draco looked up and smiled.
“Hungry?”
“OH yeah.” Harry sat up as Draco called for a nurse.
“How is she?” Harry asked as the nurse checked him over. She made sure that he was healed before sending for some lunch.
“She is doing amazingly. She just ate and if I didn’t know any better, I’d say she had a little bit of Weasley in her.” Both boys laughed. They knew that the Weasley boys could pack away the food and even Ginny could give them a run in an eating contest. When his food arrived, Harry ate as Draco filled him in on what had happened since he fell asleep. He told him how everyone loved Evie on sight and how his mother gushed over her beautiful name. She and Molly had already started talking about a shopping trip to get her cute little dresses and toys fit for a Malfoy princess. Draco had to put his foot down when his father suggested getting her a pony. Harry laughed at the antics of the adults and knew that Evie and any other children they might have, would be spoiled rotten, both on love and toys. Draco told Harry that the twins were working on a special device that worked like a baby monitor. It would sound if Evie woke up or if something was wrong. They were still working out the kinks, but they thought it would be finished in a few more weeks.
“From jokes to baby items. I swear, those two can create anything.” Harry laughed. He held out his hands and Draco handed him the sleeping baby. Harry snuggled her close, kissing her little nose.
“The midwife said that we could go home in the morning. She wants you to get as much rest as you can while here.” Draco said as he sat next to Harry on the bed. They discussed school and how to deal with the reporters they knew would be there.
“The hospital has a ward up that keeps them out. Once we step foot outside, they are going to be all over us.” Draco sighed as he ran his hand through Harry’s hair. Harry was feeding Evie a bottle as he thought.
“We could floo. It’s safer than apperating with Evie.”
“No. At her age neither is a good idea. We could always leave after dark. Father could have one of his cars waiting out front.”
“When did Lucius get a car?” Harry asked shocked.
“A few months ago. He started branching out and expanding the family business to the Muggle world. To do so, he needed a car so he could meet with company leaders and what not.”
“Wow. I never thought he would do that in a million years.”
“Father thinks that it would be prudent to expand his services to the Muggle world since our world is starting to bleed more into theirs. He thinks that being a distributing tycoon in both world will help us in the long run. He is even thinking of having Hermione run the business on the Muggle side after graduation next year.”
“Wow. Distributing?” Harry raised his eyebrows.
“Yeah. Because of the connections father has made over the years, he is able to find rare items, for a price of course.”
Harry burped Evie and handed her back to Draco.
“I think leaving after dark is a good idea. Will be going back to Hogwarts?” Harry stood up to stretch.
“Yes. McGonagall is expecting us. When we arrive, she will meet us at the front hall to show us where the nursery is located. It should be near our quarters if not attached somehow.” Draco rolled his eyes as Harry laughed. The Founders Rooms, where all the heirs lived, was like the Room of Requirements and could shift and change to fit the occupants needs. It had expanded to include Harry and Draco’s friends the previous year, but they had all decided to go back to their respective houses and let the young family have their space.
“Get some more rest Harry. We will be back to that zoo soon enough and sleep will become a rare thing for the two of us.” Draco smiled as he cuddled his daughter. He didn’t know how they were going to make things work, but they were.
Hope you are enjoying. I'm not sure what direction I'm going to take this story yet so it will be a fun journey for all of us.
