Chapter Two.

Julian thought hard for a moment, his keenly analytical mind rejecting the utterly unexperienced, and eyeing Lucius Malfoy up and down, his mind slid back to considering that really, this was almost certainly some elaborate stunt.

It had to be. After the rape charges, he'd become more and more paranoid, with good reason - if they are really out to get you, then it's not paranoia, right? Julian rose, shaking his head and frowning sternly. He was nervous, but fed up with these smoke and mirrors, yet realising this man could be quite dangerous, he hedged.

"Look mate, I appreciate the attention, but I have work to do, and it's late - perhaps if we could discuss this tomorrow...?"

Lucius stared Julian down, and made a small thump with his cane for good measure,

"This must be discussed now. There is only so much time... "

Julian scoffed, "Too right mate, too right! But ... "

"No." Lucius stated with an edge to his voice, that said it would not do, at this point, to argue. "You need to begin... "

Julian made a snap gut decision and rose swiftly, attempting to make a motion toward the door, but quick as a snake Lucius was on his feet and in one stride, reached out to Julian, grabbed his arm, his other hand on the hilt of his cane, he called out in a tight voice, "Blast it! Disapparate!"

... and the two vanished completely from the study, with a quiet "pop".

-------

"Shit", Julian thought, as everything went dark, a silence engulfed him and a massive pressure felt on all sides, a feeling of heaving motion and a pushing, wrenching, gut-churning dizziness, he tried to put his hands up to protect his face from what he was sure must have been a bomb blast, but he couldn't move his arms...

And suddenly he could see again, the pressure eased, but the throbbing in his head was a huge pounding gong which disoriented him completely. Instinctively, Julian doubled over, and retched quite violently - but a very empty stomach meant nothing but some curdled sounds of discomfort were produced before his head ceased spinning, and he felt steady enough to open his eyes and raise his head.

Expecting to see smoke clearing and possibly have a building in ruins around him, Julian was incredibly surprised to see no evidence of destruction but rather, a huge hall stretching out before him, marble staircase and imposing statues looming in the distance - and absolutely no sign of the comfortable drawing room in which he had been only moments earlier. But Lucius Malfoy was there, and he was looking away with some discomfort, as if giving Julian time to compose himself.

"Yes, apparating does take some getting used to, the first time is generally quite unpleasant," said Lucius apologetically. "It does serve the purpose though, of giving you some direct evidence that I am quite serious, and this is not some kind of "prank"."

Julian looked up with slack-jawed confusion, completely nonplussed, and his stomach still feeling somewhat delicate, and his mind - even worse.

"I, uhhh... " Julian straightened, and with an awkward grimace, looked around, "I've got no idea what just happened."

Lucius smirked. "You've just traveled via, err, magical means with me to Malfoy Manor - my ... and your, ancestral home, dear boy." He clapped Julian on the back, somewhat more jovial than he had any right to be feeling after that gut-wrenching experience, Julian thought. "Come now, let us continue..." and Lucius proprietarily guided Julian toward a nearby doorway.

Julian still felt confused and unsettled, but seeing no other way to deal with this than rolling with it, decided that, as for the time he appeared to not be immediately threatened, and this Lucius fellow clearly had Means, that he'd best off at the very least humoring him, until he could find a way out of here.
