Why Me?

Claudia is a free spirit, she is a loving person, with no fears and too optimistic for Harry’s sake. She loves to dance, read, make jokes and explore. Even though she was a Muggle and she’d never experienced it firsthand she believed in magic.

She took him everywhere, El Yunque, a rain forest, The Camuy Caverns, surfing in Rincón, Jeep off-roading, Town parties, Family gatherings, El Morro in San Juan and of course her favorite of all La Parguera and “Bahía Grande” in Fajardo, just to see a very unique and remarkable night time phenomenon, a Phosphorescent Bay.

She explains “The Bioluminescent Bay is actually made up of two bays, Bahia Monsio Jose and Bahia la Parguera; when the still waters are disturbed they glow with millions of microscopic organisms known as dinoflagellates which sparkle and create a spectacular light show. This phenomenon occurs only in tropical areas, typically in mangrove-protected bays such as the one found here at La Parguera. Puerto Rico is the only place on the planet that has three sites where you can depend on this phenomenon to occur every night”, he became fascinated he could only think what his friend Luna would think of this.

Harry is fascinated with the culture and the friendliness of the people in the island. If you let them they celebrate everything from christening to divorces, or for no reason they get together and start a party, one that neighbors and friends and family pitch in.
Time flies when you are happy.

The Sanchez’s home is cozy with four rooms; the kitchen, which like in the Burrow, was the heart of the home. A garden and a great balcony, hammocks everywhere offered a beautiful view of the sea.

They are humble and hard working people, but what surprises Harry is that they are like magnets, people come and go to that house, all the time and they’re always welcome. Maria was simply like Mrs. Weasley, but more loving and less judgmental than her. Yeap, a piece of heaven, which he is not going to give up anytime soon.

And then there’s Claudia. he found himself drawn to her finding himself feeling free for the first time in his life; she quickly became his friend and confidant, but he doesn’t mention magic, only the war. She has never experienced anything like it. She’s a great listener and doesn’t make any judgments. She sees his broken and troubled heart and tries to help him all she can.

Harry needs her, her warmth, her light, her tenderness, her compassion and her kindness. She’s a pure heart; he loves her naiveté’s and simple views for everything. For her, everything has a lesson that needs to be learned in order to go forward, she sees good in the most unexpected places.

Little by little she gets under his skin.

For Claudia even a sunset became a magic event, and Harry started to see everything through her eyes. One thing lead to another and Harry decided that he would like to live on this beautiful island and that made him feel at home, alive and with a sense of normalcy that he had never felt before.

He needs a clean slate if he wants to be with her. He needs to tell her everything, but every time he starts, the words never come. At a certain point it was funny, Claudia was obsessed with a book series from JK Rowling on his life without knowing that she has the real Harry Potter in front of her. She read those books over and over again; but if only he wasn’t a coward he could let her know who he really was.

He will never forget their first kiss.

The time spend on the island was the happiest that he had ever been. Everything was so simple, but his past and his friends always were in his thoughts.

After six months he wrote to Ginny explaining everything and letting her know about Claudia and his where abouts. He told her that it wasn’t his intention to hurt her, but he wasn’t ever planning to return to England. It was difficult to write her, but Ginny deserved to know. She deserves an opportunity to love another and live her life.

Ron’s letter was just asking him to understand and asking if he could come visit, but he never got an answer and honestly, Harry understood. He promised himself that he would always there if he needs him, but Harry needs this for his sanity and for his future. He knows that Ron will come around in his own time.

Hermione, well that is a completely different story; always a loyal and faithful friend - he got all the encouragement and support he’d always wanted. He told her that if she needed him he’d be there in a heartbeat; she always wrote back.

She had access to his elves and had got in contact with Harry through them. She was worried. Harry’s only answer to her letters was ‘I am ok’ or ‘I am fine’. No details, no nothing. When he left, she understood. All his life, he had fight evil. First his family who treated him like dirt, and then Voldemort and his minions. No, Harry’s life hasn’t been a piece of cake and when everything was finally over she understood the need for some normalcy.

Harry’s first letter after six month explains where he is, but even he doesn’t know for sure how he got there. In the letter Harry tells how he has achieved a little bit of peace, he asks for their understanding and support. In his letter he sounds content and free, something he has never been.

Back in England Hermione and the Weasleys are worried for Harry. Hermione in particular is not happy with the lack of communication on Harry’s part and this last letter doesn’t say much either. She knows that he is in Puerto Rico but the idea of him apparating so far is simply unexplainable. She remembers that he was wounded and weak. Also the way this people found him on a shore. No there is no logical explanation on this matter. But again, when thing had been logical around Harry?

One year had already gone by and Claudia had been there for him the entire time; and in all that time he went without realizing that Claudia was becoming his lifeline and anchor. He always gave thanks to all the deities that brought her into his life, but still she didn’t know his secret.

He still could not believe how love came softly, a walk in the beach with a full moon, a smile, a tender touch. He felt contempt, complete, the Wizarding World and all his complications a thing of the past.

How wrong he was. Nothing is a simple in the world of Harry Potter.
