Chapter 2-Behind The Door.
The taller figure lowered his hood and blondish gold hair swept into view. The man had a long slim face that ended in a pointed chin. His eyes were a stunning grey and were narrowed at the woman, clearly agitated with her. The shorter figure did the same but instead of just plain blonde hair pouring out, black and blonde came from under the hood. The woman shook her head sending her hair in every direction until it settled neatly on her shoulders. She was clearly irritated that she had to keep her hair covered for so long and did not hesitate to show it. Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy looked around some more, making sure that there weren’t any other people around.
The portly older woman went to speak again, but Lucius beat her raising his hand towards her face, silencing her. She recoiled from this, intimidated by his sharp features and the hatred in his eyes. She nearly started to tremble as she looked into them, feeling as if she was in danger. Narcissa sensed the tension and put on the best fake smile she could muster. She put her hand out to the older woman, trying her hardest to be muggle-like and polite. Lucius tensed suddenly, hoping that he wasn’t expected to do the same. Ms. Bott relaxed at the gesture and took Narcissa’s hand, shaking it gently.
“Yes..” Narcissa answered for the two removing her hand from the embrace,” We are quite ready.” The older woman nodded happily ,missing the look of disgust painted onto Lucius thin face, and began climbing the long staircase that had been in front of them the entire time. Narcissa nudged him and motioned to the lady, clearly telling him to fake his happiness for now. He sneered at her, clearly hating the silent suggestion but obliged just the same. He allowed Narcissa to follow the woman first, fearing that he would strike the portly muggle if he got to close to her. Narcissa hoped that Lucius could keep his cool for a bit longer, at least until they arrived at there immediate destination.
At the top of the landing all the three adults saw was chaos and slightly blurred figures running back and forth between rooms. Boys of all ages where energetically running to and fro, screaming and yelling at each other as they did so. Narcissa yelped and jumped as a dirty looking child scurried in front of her, trying to avoid any type of contact with the grungy looking child. Ms. Bott cleared her throat and suddenly the boys stopped in their tracks, forgetting that they had just been playing moments earlier.
The older portly lady said nothing and continued to walk until they reached the last door on their left. The Malfoy’s hoped that this was it and felt excitement growing in their stomachs. Ms. Bott smiled hoping that it would ease the travelers mind about the commotion that they had just witnessed. She opened her mouth to speak, but before she could say anything, a door creaked behind them breaking the silence that had been in the air. A 13 year old boy stood in the doorway watching as Ms. Bott and the Malfoy’s turned towards the sound. He looked at the mysterious visitors and glanced back to the Malfoy’s clearly putting two and two together. The lad gave them a toothy grin and chuckled at the situation that had been put in front of him. He moved from his doorway and eyed the three adults non-chalantly, as if he knew something that they didn’t know.
“What’s so funny..boy?”, Lucius asked the teen with a essence of disgust filling his voice. He took a impulsive step towards the poor boy, and nearly smirked when the boy took a step back. He loved being the big bad wolf around muggles, it made him feel so powerful.
“Sorry sir, it’s just…”, the frightened boy started, suddenly feeling his throat tighten from fear. He wanted to answer Lucius but was too scared to even speak. He swallowed the lump that grew in his throat and looked from Ms. Bott to the Malfoy’s, suddenly at a lost for words. He lowered his head, looking at the worn wooden floor. “It’s just.. no one would want….him.”
Lucius felt the anger boiling up inside of him as soon as the statement left the boys mouth. The elder Malfoy had half a mind to curse the 8 year old into the next building. He controlled himself however and moved towards the boy lowering his mouth to the boys ear. The boy squeaked at the invasion in his space, but kept his head lowered. Lucius could feel the terror radiating off of the poor kid, but had no sympathy for the predicament that he had put himself into.
“My boy…” the elder male began, his lips curling into a evil sneer,” you have no idea of the power that young man has. He would literally rip you apart if need be.. so I suggest you go back into you little room there.. before you have to experience that power.” It was a broken threat, he would never do any extreme magic in this situation. Bringing any attention to this building could be detrimental to the mission that the Malfoy’s were on. The boy looked up at the man, his eyes widening with fear. He backed away, starting to tremble from what he had just been told by a complete stranger. Narcissa had no idea what he had said but from the looks of the boys reaction it had been the right thing to say. She looked over to the confused Ms Bott, trying to get her attention back to the task at hand. Lucius moved away from where the boy had once stood, smirking with the door in front of him slammed shut.
The older lady smiled lazily, clearly confused by what was going on around her. She nodded to Narcissa and waited for Lucius to regain his stature before reaching for the old doorknob. She turned it slowly, making the suspense in the Malfoy’s stomach grow with each click of the knob. The door finally swung open, and there sat a boy that looked to be about 16 years old. Ms. Bott sighed as if she expected the boy to be doing something completely ridiculous behind the door. She stepped into the room and gave the Malfoy’s some room to enter as well.
“Salazar…”the woman stammered, “ you have some visitors, dear.”
