Chapter 2- The Confession and the Birthday Surprise

Harry and Hermione were never apart. Wherever Hermione wanted to go, she would drag Harry along. He had met all her muggle friends by the end of the first week. All of Hermione's friends loved Harry to death. Hermione would catch her female friends staring at Harry's well-built upper-body and his bum while they were swimming in the Granger's pool. This one time was the exception. Mr. and Mrs. Granger had dragged Harry out shopping. It was just Hermione and her two muggle friends, Mary and Lisa. It didn't take long for Lisa to start up the conversation.

"Hermione, why didn't you tell us you had such a hot boyfriend?" Lisa asked.

"Harry is not my boyfriend. He is my best friend from school that’s all," Hermione told them trying to hide her regret.

"You wouldn't know it by the way he looks at you. I bet he has the hots for you, Hermione. What is it he calls you? Oh yeah Mione. You know that’s made up off two words don't you?" Mary explained while laughing at how stupid her friend was when it concerned Harry.

"What two words would that be?" Hermione asked.

"You actually don't know? Mary, our friend here has finally found something she can't figure out!" Lisa exclaimed with great shock.

"I guess we will have mercy on you and tell you. Mione is 'my one' as in 'my one and only'," Mary said teasingly.

"You have to be joking. There is no way Harry would be interested in me. Both of the girls he has asked out were beautiful. I am just a plain bookworm. As much as I wish you were right, Harry could never fall for a girl like me," Hermione said truthfully.

"Then why does he have a pet name for you and is always kissing you? I can't count how many times I have seen you grab him into a bear hug. He never seems to mind all the contact you have with him. He hasn't looked at either Mary or me once, but I have caught him checking you out quite a few times," Lisa teased.

They heard a car pull up, and they saw Harry run up the stairs through the sliding glass door. Mr. Granger retreated to Harry's room carrying a bunch of shopping bags. Mrs. Granger was carrying a lot of food, and set it up on the picnic table by the pool. Mrs. Granger went inside and came back out with Harry and Mr. Granger. They were all in new swim suits.

"Girls out of the pool. Harry bought us all dinner from Little Italiano. Oh, by the way, do you like the bathing suits Harry bought us? I put your new one in your room Hermione," Mrs. Granger stated.

"They are great. You said Harry bought them and could afford Little Italiano for six people?" Lisa asked shocked.

"Yes, she did. Did Hermione forget to tell you that I am rich?" Harry teased Lisa

"No. She didn't tell us that," Mary said while looking at Hermione as if she was hurt.

"Well I am actually. My parents left me several million pounds," Harry explained with a frown on his face.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you, Mary and Lisa. Harry's parents died when he was a baby," Hermione explained when she saw the look on their faces.

"Okay. Will you promise to answer one more question honestly, Harry?" Lisa asked.

"Sure anything for a friend of Hermione's," Harry teased.

"Do you love Hermione?" Mary asked before Lisa got the chance, and she watched Harry's mouth drop open.

"Don't ask him that! I told you earlier he never breaks a promise," Hermione told them. It was clear that she wanted to know, but couldn't ask herself.

"It's all right, Hermione. I did promise to answer. Is that what you were going to ask Lisa?" Harry asked dropping his voice.

"You better believe it is!" Lisa exclaimed while shooting a dirty look at Mary.

"Yes," Harry answered while dropping his eyes to his feet.

"I love you too, Harry!" Hermione exclaimed while jumping out of the pool.

She ran over to kiss Harry, but slipped knocking over her friend and landing on top of him. She didn't even bother getting up off of him when she planted her lips on his. At first, Harry was in shock, but quickly he started kissing back. He slipped his tongue in her mouth, and they made out forgetting everyone else was there. They broke apart when they heard someone cough.

"I am happy for you, Hermione, but all this food Harry bought will get cold if you keep at it," Mrs. Granger teased.

"Why don't you go get your new swim suit on and come back down and eat?" Mr. Granger asked.

Hermione ran up to her room to find not only a new swimsuit but a necklace. She put on the swimsuit and the necklace. She ran back down to get some food before it was gone. When she got back down, she noticed it looked like Harry ordered half of the menu.

"Harry do you have any brothers?" Lisa asked hoping that Hermione hadn't snagged the only guy like Harry.

"I'm afraid not. I'm an only child." Harry replied and started playing with his food.

"I'm afraid a loving family is what Harry has always wanted. He has never had one," Hermione explained with a frown.

"Where did you get that beautiful necklace?" Lisa asked as soon as she noticed it.

"I got it for Hermione to thank her for talking her parents into letting me stay here," Harry answered. "I guess it's a gift for my girlfriend now."

"You got that right," Hermione declared.

When they finished their dinner, they all enjoyed the pool. Lisa and Mary were swimming. Mr. and Mrs. Granger were sun bathing. Hermione was sitting in Harry's lap under a shade tree. Lisa and Mary swam over to Harry and Hermione.
Lisa shocked Harry when she asked Harry how he met Hermione.

"How much do they know about our condition?" he asked Hermione.

"They know I go to Hogwarts. Lisa is a squib and Mary's sister will be going to Hogwarts this year," Hermione answered. "We meet on the train our first year at Hogwarts, but we became friends when he saved me from a troll."

"You saved Hermione from a troll?" Lisa asked in shock.

"Yes, I did. Do you know my full name Lisa?" Harry asked.

"No. When I told Hermione I am a squib, she refused to tell me your last name," Lisa answered.

"Potter," Harry told her and watched as her eyes widened until it looked like they were going to pop out.

Mary looked confused. Lisa and Hermione took pity on her and explained why it was such a big deal. Hermione filled Lisa and Mary in on the last five years at Hogwarts. Harry just listened as his whole life story was shared with Mary.

"Do you ladies want to hang out tomorrow? I have nothing planned and it’s not often I get to spend it with friends," Harry asked.

"Spend what Harry?" Mary asked.

"His birthday is tomorrow," Hermione told them.

"Sure," They replied together.

Mary and Lisa pulled Hermione away from Harry. They asked what kind of things he liked. Hermione gave them a list of what Harry liked. They turned back to Harry and said their goodbyes. Harry, having had a full day, retired to his bedroom to spend some time with Hedwig. Hermione pulled her parents out to go shopping realizing she forgot to tell them tomorrow was his birthday.

Harry woke up feeling strange. He felt like he had just eaten. He grabbed his wand and went to take a shower. He got ready, but before he could step in, he caught sight of his reflection in the mirror and screamed.

Waking up to Harry's scream all the Grangers ran up to the bathroom to find out what happened. They didn't expect what they saw. They knew Harry was freaking out.

Harry no longer looked like he used to. He could see them perfectly, but he wasn't wearing his glasses. His raven hair now came down to his bum. He had grown a set of fangs. The most noticeable difference though was his scar was gone.

"What happened to me, Mione?" Harry asked hoping she would know.

"I don't know. Let me look in some of my books," Hermione replied.

"Hermione leave this room right this second!" Mr. Granger yelled. "You too, Jane," he finished after lowering his voice.

"Why?" Hermione asked.

"You haven't noticed your boyfriend is naked?" Mrs. Granger answered.

"Oh!" Hermione said as she was being pulled out of the restroom.

Harry took his shower, and got dressed. He kept staring at his reflection. He just waited for Hermione to come in with the answer like she always did. Harry didn't have to wait long. Hermione came in and didn't look Harry in the eyes. He got very nervous since she wouldn't look at him. She had never avoided looking in his eyes before.

"I found out what you are," Hermione began.

"What exactly am I then?" Harry asked concerned.

"You are a Wraith. They are like Vampires, but they feed on magic. They also can eat a persons’ soul," Hermione explained.

"I am sorry, Hermione. I will leave right now, and I'll understand if you don't want to be with me anymore," Harry said while his heart broke into a million pieces.

"Harry James Potter! Who said I didn't want to be with you anymore? You better not try to leave without me! I finally have your heart and I am not giving it up!" Hermione yelled at him.

"Well, how exactly are we going to stay together when I am a Wraith?" Harry asked.

"Simple you will just have to turn me into one," Hermione said and laughed at the look on Harry's face.

"How exactly am I going to turn you into a Wraith?" Harry asked with a puzzled look on his face.

"Bite me and will me to become like you silly." Hermione explained.

"Bite you where?" Harry asked.

Hermione hiked up the nightshirt she was wearing showing the panties she was wearing and pointed to her inner thigh. Harry did as she asked and sank his fangs into her. He could feel her magic. Suddenly, Harry felt as if he had just read an entire library. He quickly removed his fangs from her leg. As soon as he stood up, he had to catch Hermione.

"What happened, Mione?" Harry asked.

"You just made me yours, Harry. I will be like you tomorrow morning. You should already know that since you know everything I know now. When you drain someone’s magic, you gain their knowledge too," Hermione explained.

"I think it will take me a little while for me to sort out all the knowledge you gave me. So if you don't mind, will you tell me what I need to know? Will I be a danger to your parents?" Harry asked.

"No. You won't be a danger to my parents. We will only prey on things that contain magic. I think that’s why your scar disappeared. We will have to find a food source before too long though. We will have to go to Gringotts and find a place to live too. There is no way we can stay here without anyone noticing."

"What are we going to do with Mary and Lisa? They are coming over today don't forget," Harry reminded Hermione.

"Don't worry about them. They are open minded. It’s Ron and Ginny I am worried about. Ron can be a racist at times, and I don't want to think what he is going to think of us. Ginny will probably die of shock, because her Boy-who-lived is now a Dark Creature according to the Ministry," Hermione explained.

"I don't care about Ron and Ginny. I just want you to stay by my side. If Mary and Lisa want to, we can bring them with us when we leave," Harry told her.

"We will see. I love you, Harry" Hermione said.

"I love you too. Lets go explain this to your parents," Harry said.

They went downstairs, and found Mr. and Mrs. Granger in the living room. Hermione went about explaining what happened and what she told Harry to do. Harry got on one knee in front of them and asked Hermione to marry him. He was planning to ask her once Mary and Lisa got there, but he wanted to get it over with before they got any more surprises. Hermione said yes the moment he finished proposing as if she had been waiting all along. Mr. and Mrs. Granger gave their blessings.
