the morning after
Sorry it's been so long since I've updated this. I've been pretty busy. Here is another chapter.
---------
"Serneity!" he father's voice called.
The teenager's eyes fluttered open and she let out a loud groan. Her head hurt so bad. The light shinning through her window hurt her eyes.
She pulled the blanket over her head and closed her eyes.
"Why do I hurt?" she asked out loud.
Slowly the night before came back to her. James had gotten her drunk and had sex with her. Panic hit her at once.
She brought a hand to her face and let out a deep breath. Her breath smelt horrible.
She could smell sex, beer, and blood. She looked down at the bed sheets to find a puddle of dried blood.
She knew her parents or even her brother would come to check on her if she didn't come down soon. If they stepped in her bedroom they would know what had happened. She knew she had to hide the evidence.
She jumped out of bed and took the sheets off of the bed. She bawled them up and hide them in the closet. She would take care of them later.
She quickly dressed and poked her head out into the hallway. She knew she needed to brush her teeth right away. If her parents smelt the booze on her breath she knew she would be in trouble.
There was no one else in the hallway. She bolted to the bathroom. To her horror the door was locked.
"Hold up," her brother's voice came. "I'll be out in a second sis."
The door opened a few minutes later and her brother stepped out. Her brother wasn't the best looking guy out there. He had their father's large nose and black eyes. His long black hair was pulled back out of the way.
"Are you alright?" he asked at once.
"What do you mean?" she questioned in a nervous tone.
"Your eyes are all red," he said. "And...eh!...your breath is like death."
"Give it a break," she said shoving him out of the way.
Sam just rolled his eyes and headed downstairs.
Serneity stood looking at herself in the mirror. She hated to admit her brother was right. Her eyes were blood shot. She dug around in the medicine cabinet until she found the eye drops. After a couple drops she looked better.
She couldn't hide the way she felt. She felt sick to her stomach from the drinking and from the thought of James taking advantage of her.
Suddenly she was on her knees in front of the toilet throwing up. It felt like it was never going to stop.
"Baby," came her mother's voice. "Are you ok?"
"I'm fine," she lied flushing the toilet.
she knew her mother wouldn't go away until she saw her. She walked over to the door and opened it. Hermione walked in with a worried look on her face.
"Oh darling," she said putting a hand to her daughter's forehead. "You look like death."
"I'm having my period," she lied. "Sometimes I get sick to my stomach Mum."
"Aw," she said with a sigh. "I thought you weren't due for another week. Oh well. It's normal for it to move."
Serneity felt terrible for lying to her mother but she didn't have a choice. She couldn't tell her the truth.
Hermione could feel that there was something her daughter wasn't telling her. She wasn't looking her in the eye.
"Are you sure that is all?" she asked.
For the longest time she stood there staring at her mother almost ready to tell her the truth.
"That's all," she said finally.
"Ok," she said nodding. "Well your father, Sam, and I are going over to Harry and Ginny's for breakfast. I take it you aren't up for that."
"No," she said shaking her head.
The last thing she wanted was to James ever again.
"Alright," she said giving her daughter a hug. "You go on to bed and I'll fix you some soup later if you want it."
Serneity drifted back to her bedroom. She laid down on her bed and closed her eyes. Tears were burning at her eyes but she wouldn't let them come.
--------
When Serneity was sure her parents were gone she got her dirty sheets and went down to the laundry room. She tossed the dirty sheets into the washing machine and turned it on.
She paused a second before she turned on it. She thought for a second about pulling it out. She thought for a second about showing it to her father. He would kill James he knew what he had done. After a short time of thinking she turned the machine on.
She headed back into the kitchen to get something to eat. Her stomach felt horrible and she needed something to eat.
"Hi," her brother's voice came as soon as she entered.
Serneity jumped at the sudden sound. She looked at him in surprise. He was looking at her with narrowed eyebrows.
"I thought you went with Mum and Dad," she said getting a can of soup of the cabniet.
"I forgot my new comic," he explained holding up a comic book. "I was going to show it to Albus."
She opened the pop top on the can and dumped it into a bowl. She slipped it in to microwave and turned it on. She turned to find her brother still staring at her.
"What?" she questioned.
"I know," he said simply.
"Know what?" Serneity asked in a shaky voice.
"About you and James," he said.
Serneity didn't say anything. Her mouth just dropped open.
"I heard you guys last week," he said blushing slightly.
"Are you going to tell Mum and Dad?" she snapped.
"No," he snapped right back. "I wouldn't do that. I would only tell them if I thought he was hurting you."
Serneity forced a little smile and turned away to get her soup from the microwave. As she sat it down on the counter to cool she could feel her brother's eyes on her. She jerked around to look at him.
"What?" she growled.
"You seem different," he explained. "Did...Did James...hurt you in someway?"
"No," she lied. "He wouldn't do that."
"Sern I can tell that-" he started.
"He wouldn't do that!" she screamed. "He would never hut me!"
Sam sat there in total shock. He and his sister had always gotten along. They had never bickered like most siblings they knew. Sam could always tell when something was wrong with his sister and she could tell the same about him.
Without another word Serneity grabbed her soup and ran upstairs to her room. She sat the soup down on the beside table and dropped down onto her bed. The tears she had been holding in finally started to fall from her eyes. She just wanted everything to go away.
Sam sat downstairs in the kitchen listening to his sister cry. He couldn't stand to see her so upset. He was going to have a little word with James. He got up from the kitchen table and headed out of the house.
