Chapter Two
Chapter Two
The work she was doing was a mindless business that consisted more of keeping the students from blowing their caldrons up than anything else. She took the rest of the time on the hunt for heavier wards on the campus. It turned out that the heavier wards weren’t in or about the castle, but in the Forbidden Forrest itself.
She went back into her quarters when she heard a noise from behind her. Before she knew what was going on, Hermione found herself pinned face first into the very door she had been opening. She felt a man nuzzling her throat before he let a hot huff of breath into her hair. He pulled back slightly, allowing her to turn her head to face him.
“Remus?” she asked, turning to face him fully.
His grin was cold and his face… No, she thought, it wasn’t Remus. Which meant what, she asked herself. He had a twin. Which only left one name.
“Romulus?” she whispered.
“I was told you were a brilliant witch, but now I know it for a fact,” he said, sounding so much like Remus. “Aren’t you going to invite me in?”
“No,” she answered. “I strongly suspect you know why.”
“Because I am a homicidal maniac?” he ventured.
“I was thinking more along the lines of this is a school and being an unmarried female having a man in her sleeping chambers isn’t looked upon as a good thing,” she answered dryly. “Though I didn’t think of it, being a homicidal maniac isn’t favorable either.”
He moved closer to her. “I could convince you.”
“I doubt that,” she whispered, looking him in the eyes. “Are you a werewolf, Romulus? You certainly exhibit wolf like tendencies.”
“Yes, that I am,” he said, looking down at her body. “You are quite the hot little bitch, aren’t you?”
Hermione smiled as she said, “And you are a very good doggie, aren’t you?”
It looked like he was about to loose his temper when he gasped at the power taking over his mind. He couldn’t shake it off and soon he was kneeling in front of her.
“Mistress,” he panted. “Mistress.”
She pet his head as she whispered, “You and I have much to speak of, Romulus. Stand and come with me.”

Two hours later she had more information as to where the werewolves were located. She even had information as to why he was there in the first place. It appeared that Hermione had made his boss nervous with her investigations around the campus. Trouble was that he couldn’t tell her who his boss was.
“I took an oath,” he breathed. “All of us that went to work for him had to do so. We all took wizard’s oaths. I am sorry that I cannot tell you, mistress.”
“And is everyone that works for him a werewolf?” she asked.
“Yes, mistress.” He rested his head on her lap, his arms tight around her calves as she sat.
She stroked his hair, thinking over what she would have to do next. “You are going to have to get them into one place near here. Someplace that I can watch near by, but they cannot watch me.” She smiled as she lifted his face up to make him look her in the eyes. “And I know just the place.”

Remus and Bill sat in silence with the only light coming from the starlight and the waxing moon. The older werewolf looked over to Bill Weasley, who hadn’t spoken in hours. All that had happened to him in the last few weeks overwhelmed Bill. Fleur had left him no more than the month before. Then when he had needed his family the most, the Ministry of Magic had enacted an imprudent law and he had been caught up thanks to it. A noise, one of the first of the night, caught Remus’s attention. Doors, many of them, were being slammed open in twos. This went on until their door was slammed open. What he saw amazed him. He was looking at himself. How was this even possible?
“Remus?” A female voice had him blinking as a light flooded the room in a stream. “Oh Merlin, Remus!” A woman ran into the room and soon he found his arms full of her.
“Hermione?” he asked, pulling back to look at her. “What is going on?”
“Uh, we’re here to free everyone,” she told him. “So far, so good.”
“Are you mad?” he hissed. “They would only grab us up again and next time may be worse. We could be put into Azkaban! Or given the kiss!”
“Stop being a worrywart, old friend!” Sirius said to him walking into the room. “Bill!” The younger wizard looked over to them, but said nothing.
Hermione left Remus and went over to him, stroking his hair. Leaning down, she whispered something to him and soon he was standing up and walking out.
“What did you say to him?” Remus asked.
“That his mother made his favorite and he was going to miss it if he stayed here,” she replied. “Time?”
“Fifteen minutes,” Remus’s twin replied.
“Let’s get out of here!” she snapped.
“Not until you tell me…” Remus began only to have Hermione press a single finger to his mouth.
“I promise that I will give you all the answers you require, but unless you want me giving you those answers in prison we must leave.”
All the werewolves left the prison, making their way north. As they went, Hermione past out unregistered port keys to all of them. It wasn’t until they reached a clearing that she explained to them that the port keys would take them to different places around the world without werewolf laws.
She walked straight over to Greyback who was looking too gleeful. “You will not bite anyone, understood?”
He glared at her.
“Understood!” her roar had the group going silent.
He rolled his eyes and muttered, “Yes, mother.”
“Good, because if I found out that you have, I will send out my personal pack to rip you to shreds,” she told him. “You know I will.”
His eyes went hard, but this faded as he chuckled. “You are an excellent bitch.”
“Time?” she called out again.
“Five minutes,” a short, balding man replied. “Mistress, will we all be safe?”
“We can only hope, Josiah,” she answered, joining Remus, Sirius, Romulus, and Bill.
Hermione slipped her hand into her pocket, pulling out her personal port key. She had used the locket her mother had given to her days before she had sent them off to Australia. Who knew that it wasn’t the wizarding world wasn’t that was going to kill them, but a drunk driver. The irony wasn’t lost on her, but it didn’t help in the least.
“Where are we going?” Bill asked her, as she handed him his port key.
“You are going to the Gringott’s officials in Egypt,” she stated. “The goblins can and will protect you better than we can. I’ve gotten a hold of several who have assured me that they have paperwork started and they will have you cleared to be back in London under an assumed identity.”
“Can they do that for others?” Remus asked.
“Only for the employees of the bank I’m afraid,” she told him. “The rest are being sent to safe houses set up in the last few days.”
“Two minutes,” came from Romulus.
“Where are we going?” Remus asked her.
“Sirius and Harry have set up an alibi for those helping in the rescue,” she said. “You and I though are going to Canada with Romulus, here.”
“Romulus?” Remus whispered looking at the man closely. “But I don’t have a twin.”
“That you know of,” she said casually. “We will get answers, I promise you.”
“One minute!” was called out.
Soon there was a count down going on and she pressed the port key into Remus’s hand. Romulus’s hand joined theirs and within seconds they were swept away via the port key.
