Bye Bye Magic

// Chapter 1 //

“Wotcher Mr. Malfoy” Auror Tonks said. Lucius growled in response. What an ungodly hour to get up. Stupid Ministry.

“If you just give me your wand. Yeah, thank you.” Lucius watched as Nymphadora walked away with his wand. He resisted the urge to throttle the young witch with his bare hands, wand or no wand. She placed it in a metal box.

“Here, just sign this paper and we’re done here.” Nymphadora said, as if she was talking about the weather. This was his magic they were talking about!

Lucius sighed and read the contract. Blabla handing in his wand, restrictions, not to leave the country, blabla. With a feeling of dread in his stomach, he signed. The contract disappeared with a loud pop.

He felt Nymphadora watching him.

“Something wrong?” He snarled.

To his outrage, Nymphadora gave him a sad smile.

“Wish I could say ‘I’m sorry’, but I guess this is what you deserve. Pity for Narcissa though.”

“We don’t need your pity!”

“I never said you had mine, Malfoy.” She grabbed some papers and headed for the door. “You have till three to pack your belongings. Auror Jenkins will stop by the Manor to pick you up.”

Lucius was left feeling empty and alone.

***

It was a quarter to three. Lucius stalked his study once more. An empty bottle of Fire Whiskey decorated his desk. Drowning his sorrows had become a bad habit.

The most disturbing thing of this exile was his wife, where was she? He heard nothing of her. Shouldn’t she be by his side, supporting him? Agitation got a hold of him, and he fiercely kicked one of his trunks.

Just then the flames roared green and Auror Jenkins stepped through. He was a tall man, one the females would dub as ‘tall, dark and handsome’. Lucius sneered.

“Good afternoon Mr. Malfoy.” His polite tone might have fooled others, but Lucius was no fool. He saw the hatred in the man’s eyes. Somewhere in his stomach, something stirred. Being watched with loathing had lost its appeal.

“We are going to apparate to the Leaky Cauldron. From there we shall take the underground to Muggle London.”

This day was getting better and better.
