Hermione laid in her bedroom, her room was in the heads tower. With the head boys room just a bathroom away from her. She thought about everything that had happened over the last few months. Voldemort had been defeated, Severus snape was back as Potions master due to the quick thinking of her and Harry who after the battle had run back to him to save him. Most of the inter-house rivalry was dead due to the final battle. Dead like so many of their friends and family. Hermione and Draco had developed a strained relationship due to both being head boy and girl.. He had been allowed back at Hogwarts only with Dumbledore reappearing and allowing him to return.

Harry's face when he saw his mentor alive was worth a thousand words. Yet miss know it all had not been able to utter one. All three had returned for their final year, most of their class had come back and were now doing year seven with Luna and Ginny. That night that her and Draco had... heat filled her body. Thinking of how he had slammed her against the wall. Taking what she had to give freely. They had continued their affair, not realizing that every time they were near each other, powerful light filled the air around them. Everyone knew something was going on, everyone but his family. Draco had been betrothed to Astoria Greengrass, and as far as his father was concerned his son would marry a pure blood. Not a girl who was simply an infatuation.

It was there that Draco was, at his family home trying to make his father see reason. Lucius had told his son in no certain terms that he was to end it with Hermione and make more of an effort with his intended. Told Draco that if he did not then Lucius would get rid of his problem himself.

Hermione heard the door to the common room open, two sets of voices surprised her. One was Draco's the other, oh god it was Astoria. Jumping from bed she pulled her door open staring at the boy she had come to care for so much in the embrace of another woman. Draco pulled away from Astoria in shock, she had thrown herself at him.
"Oh god Hermione!" Hermione stared, feeling the tears building up. Astoria knew she better leave, seeing the power radiating off the head girl.

Draco stepped forward as Hermione shield away from him, "I didn't want to love, she threw herself at me I swear." Hermione was too angry, to hurt to hear him. Looking up though hate filled eyes she spoke.

"What have you done now?!" Draco was shocked. "Hermione, My father says that I have too end it with you, he says he will hurt you I could not live with myself. Astoria was just trying to build a wall between us, please listen to me." Hermione was listening she didn't want to believe that he would cause her so much pain.

"Really Draco and what about me? What would you do in my shoes? Would you mind if I hurt you?" Draco was shocked, no he wouldn't like that. "Hermione please Understand that I need to, Wish that I had other choices
than to harm the one I love." Hermione gave a small fake laugh turning to lean against her door waiting for him to continue.

"I know I'd better stop trying You know that there's no denying, if you want to make this harder I can. I won't show mercy on you now, I know, should stop believing, I know, there's no retrieving." His eyes sparkled with unshed tears. Hermione gave a small frown as he threw her words back at her. "It's over now, what have you done?"

Angry and hurt she locked eyes with him, "I've been waiting for someone like you, But now you are slipping away... oh Why, why does fate make us suffer?" She was crying now thinking of his father plotting against them. "There's a curse between us, between me and you" She fell to the ground all anger gone, her body shaking with sobs as he rushed to cradle her close.

"Hermione he could do things to us, he could make me do things. Just because he swapped sides at the war does not mean he is not evil. I don't want to hurt you." Lifting her chin he looked into her eyes. "Would you mind if I killed you? Would you mind if I tried to? Because he could make me." Hermione felt anger build up again, standing she pushed him away.

"Well if you cannot fight daddy for me then it's over!" Storming to her door she turned looking at him broken on the floor. "You have turned into my worst enemy again, It's over now" Draco gave a wail of loss as she closed her door on him.

Running to her door he slammed his fist against it. "You carry hate that I don't feel, I will not fall, won't let it go, My father will not win I will make sure of it." Hermione listened to him outside her door, tears flooding down her face as she heard him whisper one last thing to her, "We will be free when it ends."
