The Falling
“The Falling”
Andromeda strode into her dormitory as if she was on cloud nine. She spun around half way and fell backwards onto her bed and stared up at the ceiling, remembering what had just happened in the hall way. She could help but smile from ear to ear and felt her face flush with color. No one or nothing would be able to take away the way she felt. All she could think about was the day.
A long and humdrum hour of learning how to properly gaze into the crystal ball had finally ended. Not a moment to soon for Andromeda. She could care less about the meaning of the shapes that tea leaves might or might not make. Students began to file out of the room and down the steps as she began to collect her things. She reached down and pulled her knapsack from the floor not realizing that the strap had wrapped itself around a passing foot. She saw a body falling to the ground. She dropped the bag and knelt over the mass that had falling to the floor. She didn’t even realize who had fallen until she had seen his familiar face smiling back at her. She smiled at him and placed her hand on his shoulder, “Are you okay? I didn’t even see you walking by and I …” Her sentence trial off as she placed her hand on his shoulder and stared into a pair of bright hazel eyes.
As he felt the warmth of her hand on his shoulder it surprisingly sent chills through his whole body. Before he could even think of something to say he heard his own voice talking to her. “Well that’s what I get for looking at something as beautiful as you instead of walking where I was going. I guess you can say that I’m falling for you.” She couldn’t stop herself from blushing terribly and let out a slight giggle.
She reached forward and brushed a strand of his dirty blonde hair from his forehead. She looked at him wanting to tell him what she felt but all she could muster was, “I guess we better get going before we are late to Professor Polifig’s class.”
He clamored to his feet, grabbing his knapsack and hers, “I’ll carry this for you. Wouldn’t want anyone else to get hurt now would we.” He extended his arm for her and she gladly wrapped both of her arms around hi bicep. Her arm felt so strong and firm she thought as she instinctively pulled herself closer to him. His cologne was intoxicating to her that she didn’t even notice some of the looks that the two of them were getting as they walked down the step to the dungeon. He made her feel so comfortable and safe. She hadn’t wanted to let his arm go but she knew she had to as he held the door for her to the potions room. Luckily there was an open table that the both of them could sit at. The whole class she sat in silence next to him.
One of her fellow Slytherin, Alison, looked at her in bewilderment. Alison looked at Andromeda and realized that she saw there was something different in her eyes. She could tell Andromeda was smitten with a Hufflepuff. Even time Alison looked in her direction she was smiling. She knew there was nothing anyone could do. All Alison could think was that she hoped Andromeda’s sister wouldn’t find out.
Andromeda didn’t care who was watching. She was happy around him. When the class had ended she had bid Ted good bye for now and began to walk to lunch with Alison. He reached down for her knapsack and handed it to her and whispered in her ear, “Thank you for making me fall for you.” She brushed the side of his face and smiled looking deep into his eyes as she shouldered the bag. “Until next time then.” She said to him as she walked towards the door, looking back and seeing that he was smiling as he watched her leave.
She met Alison in the corridor and the two girls began to walks towards the Great Hall. She looked at her and just sighed. Alison could see the twinkle in her eye.
“Oh no, I’m pretty sure I can see that little sparkle in your eyes. Does it mean what I think it means? Is someone is smitten?” She teased her friend, whose face had now turned a dark shade of red.
“I couldn’t help myself. His eyes had a way of looking right through me and his voice. He said such the most delightful things. You should have heard him.” She began to recount what had happened two periods ago as they were walking in to the Great Hall. Andromeda couldn’t help herself and scanned the room to see if she could catch a glimpse of the Hufflepuff. To her surprise she saw him standing in the isle between the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff tables, looking at her. He smiled and slightly bowed in her direction. She smiled back at him broadly and nodded. They made their way to the Slytherin table and sat next each other.
“I can see you are not the only one who is smitten.” Alison whispered to Andromeda. “I can also see what you mean about his ways. That was completely adorable what he just did.” All Andromeda could do was to smile, feeling her face fill with color and warmth yet again, and look over towards the Hufflepuff table. He looked up and met her gaze with a smile as if he knew she was looking at him. She couldn’t get him out of her mind.

Ted saw her nodded back to him and blush as the blonde witch next to her and slightly giggle and the two rushed off to there own house table. He was excited and in awe that she actually looked for him. He had stared at the door to the Great Hall for the last five minutes waiting for her to enter just to see her. He had never expected that she would be looking for him. He could feel his heart start to grow warmer inside his chest. He took his seat at his house table and couldn’t help but to smile as her thought about. He wanted to see her again. He found himself devising a plan to steal her away right after dinner. He would take her to the owlery where they could see the stars. He was even thinking of asking her to accompany him next time to Hogsmead. At that moment he felt something tingle inside of him and looked towards the Slytherin table to see her bright eyes looking at him. He smiled to her still thinking that he now had an idea of what he would do in Hogsmead to impress her but he had to ask. He had hardly touched the chicken and candied yams that he had place upon his plate but when dessert appeared in from of him he quickly swiped some smaller pieces of fudge and wrapped them up in a napkin and tuck them into his knapsack. He excused himself from amongst his friends, telling them he would see them later. He was thinking of the perfect way of how to steal her away after dinner.

At the staff table a graying wizards looked over the Great Hall with a fatherly watch. He could not help but notice what was going on between a young witch sitting at the Slytherin table and a young wizard sitting at the Hufflepuff table. He had notice that the same young wizard watching the door earlier and had bowed to the same young witch when she arrived to the Great Hall. Through out the rest of dinner he kept his eye on them, noticing that the kept glancing towards each other and blushing.
‘Ah the first sight of young lovers this year’ he thought to himself. This brought a smile to his face and he let out a small laugh at seeing the antics of the two.
“Albus, what are you smiling about?” said the witch sitting to the right of him, who had heard his laugh and turned to see him with a warm smile on his face. Her hair was just subtlety showing gray streaks from under her dark green pointed hat.
He leaned over to her gentle whispering in her ear and motioning to the witch and wizard he had been watching, “Minerva, my dear, do you see what I see happening between the Slytherin and Hufflepuff tables tonight.” She had seen the two that he had been talking about and turned towards Albus in bewilderment.
“Oh I see.” Minerva had turned to him now understanding what Albus was talking about. “I have hoped that Miss Black would not be like her ancestry. And now from what I am witnessing tonight I think that she will be fine. Who is this young wizard that has caught her eye though?”
“His name is Theodore Tonks. He is a very kind wizard form what I hear. Not to shabby in his studies either. I think a good heart like his would do her well to realize that sometimes apples do fall very far from there trees.” Albus said grinning as he watched the young wizard tucking some fudge away in his sack. Albus was pretty sure that the young wizard was planning on whisking Miss Black away somewhere later on this evening.
