Chapter II
Lovely Reviewers:
Citten: I am glad. I hope that you enjoy both.
Andarte: Good.
angelnomiko: I intend to.
meankitty69: Bossy little thing, aren't you?
Linneh: I have two sequels as a kind of either/or. I hope you will check out both and enjoy both. I think that they are equally good.
Heidi191976: I like great starts.
Voracious Reader: I'm sure you needn't pick between them, feel free to read and enjoy both. Neither is better than the other.
Katiebug: Well, if you would please review this...reviews give writers of fanfiction warm and fuzzy feelings.
Shetan: I wonder too.

*bows* I would like to thank the people who are reading both sequels. That makes me quite happy. I couldn't make up my mind which to write, so I wrote both. I feel special when people read both and like both.

When Hermione looked around after her fall, she saw she was standing in a clearing. Lucius looked to be in his mid twenties, and he knelt before a pale man with no nose or lips and eyes that were the color of blood.
“You have served me well, Lucius,” the high pitched hissing voice issued from the mouth of the man. “Leading in the assault against the Prewetts, and taking them out.”
“My only desire is to serve you, Milord.”
The Dark Lord smiled at these words.
“You may ask two boons from me for the deaths of Gideon and Fabian,” the Dark Lord hissed.
“Milord, I ask the right to duel a fellow death eater to the death for my first,” Lucius said, hiding his grin with his head bowed.
“Whom would you call forth to do battle with Lucius?” the Dark Lord asked, sounding rather more serpentine in his excitement.
“Abraxas Malfoy,” Lucius said with a gleam in his eye.
Hermione shivered at the malice in his voice and the gleam in his eye.
“Your father, Lucius?” the Dark Lord seemed interested in this.
“Yes,” Lucius said, keeping his head down.
A man in a similar robe and mask to Lucius’ stepped forward from the circle.
“Give them space so none will be damaged by accident.”
The death eaters all formed into lines on either side of the duelers.
Lucius lined up back to back with his father. His eyes had none of the light that they had held less than ten years prior.
Hermione gasped at their lack of humor and joy, their coldness and hardness. They were like a banded grey agate. So many shades swirled in them as he frowned. They eased over searching for and locating the witch. Those eyes didn't belong to Lucius. They were the eyes of another.
Two eyes that shone like black sapphires glinted at him from behind another mask. Lucius nodded his head an almost imperceptible degree.
Hermione ran toward the other death eater, the one with the black eyes watching Lucius.
She peered up at the much taller man. When close enough, she could see his greasy black hair. Severus Snape. She blinked back her tears as she thought of the wonderful boy he’d been. She knew he changed. She knew that he was on the right side in the end.
She turned her attention to Lucius.
He and his father were walking away from each other.
“DUEL!” Voldemort shouted when they were forty paces apart.
Lucius spun with the spell already started.
“Tara-” Abraxas curse was cut short as the spell his son had fired hit it right across the chest.
His chest was gashed deep completely through the bone and muscle and tissue as he fell back.
Lucius walked calmly toward the fallen death eater who had been “Daddy, father, sir, and murderer of his heart” in his twenty-six years of life and the last was acquired when he was only seventeen.
Lucius knelt down at the man’s side as he flopped a bit in the dirt.
Hermione ran over to hear what was being said.
“Well, you scheming bastard. How does it feel?” Lucius whispered. “Weakness, eh? I would more call it a strength. Oh, and just to let you know. While I do not like that she was muggleborn any more than I like any others from the background, I still would have married her, fucked her into my bed in the manor every night, made sure that you heard her squeals of rapture knowing that your son was plowing her sowing his seed in her womb. She would have born beautiful children for me, even if they would have only been halfbloods. They would have filled your house.”
Abraxas' eyes were wide in anger as he tried to speak, but blood poured out of his mouth instead of the cruel words.
“Now, you’re dead. You might say she was a mudblood. You might be right. But she was mine, not yours. I don’t like it that you took something of mine. So, now I will have all that is yours in exchange, and it is not a fraction of what I lost,” Lucius said close to his father’s ear before he stood. He aimed his wand. “AVADA KEDAVRA!”
Green light shot out the end of the wand and engulfed the man as Lucius laughed intensifying the power of the spell after the man was already dead.
Several death eaters twitched at the sight of the patricide, and one female gave a loud, insane cackle.
“Very nice, Lucius,” the high pitched voice of the Dark Lord said. “What else would you ask of me?”
“The other request I must take time to mull over, Milord, with your permission,” Lucius said, bowing stiffly to the despot.
“You may have twenty-four hours for thought, for tomorrow night is Halloween. And Wormtail has given me the information I need to destroy the Potters.
Hermione looked over at Severus and saw his heavy breathing and frightened eyes.
*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*~-~-~*
Hermione found herself at Malfoy Manor in Wiltshire.
The morning sun shined through the window. She stared at Lucius where he laid on the enormous bed. It had eight green and black pillows with silver edging around their edges on it neatly arranged. Thin gauzy black curtains were tied back at each of the corners.
He held an unopened light blue envelope in his hands.
“I’m so sorry, Hermione. I took care of your murderer though. I’m just sorry for not doing it sooner. I’m sorry for not opening this sooner. But I felt I couldn’t until, until you were avenged. I don’t know how anyone could have survived that spell.”
He opened the envelope. A piece of parchment enclosed in a magic sphere raised to his eye level as the light blue envelope rose and began to issue golden light and a melody floated out.
The world seems not the same,
Though I know nothing has changed.
It's all my state of mind,
I can't leave it all behind.
Have to stand up to be stronger.
Lucius frowned.
Have to try to break free
From the thoughts in my mind.
Use the time that I have,
I can't say goodbye,
Have to make it right.
Have to fight, cause I know
In the end it's worthwhile,
That the pain that I feel slowly fades away.
It will be alright.
She couldn’t say goodbye? She was stolen from him. She was his!
I know, should realize
Time is precious, it is worthwhile.
Despite how I feel inside,
Have to trust it'll be all right.
Have to stand up to be stronger.
I have to try to break free
From the thoughts in my mind.
Use the time that I have,
I can't say goodbye,
Have to make it right.
Have to fight, cause I know
In the end it's worthwhile,
That the pain that I feel slowly fades away.
It will be all right.
Oh, this night is too long.
Have no strength to go on.
No more pain, I'm floating away.
Through the mist see the face
Of an angel, who calls my name.
I remember you're the reason I have to stay.
Lucius felt the tears rise up. The tears he’d held in for almost a decade pour out of his eyes. She was stolen from him!
Have to try to break free
From the thoughts in my mind.
Use the time that I have,
I can't say goodbye,
Have to make it right.
Have to fight, cause I know
In the end it's worthwhile,
That the pain that I feel slowly fades away.
It will be alright.
Lucius reached for the note that now hovered without the protective sphere. He unfolded it.
His face darkened as he read.
Hermione inched closer to read the note.
Dear Lucius,
Meus mors ficta ante mea nativitas est.
Vigilâ.
That is all that I can give you.
With Love,
Hermione
“What does this mean?” Lucius said, turning the parchment over and over for more clues. “My false death is before my birth. It sounds like some stupid riddle. Keep watch.”
Lucius strode to the fireplace in the room. Taking a handful of floo powder from the pot on the mantle, he threw it into the fire and shouted, “Spinner’s End.”
Severus’ head appeared a moment later.
“You bellowed, Lucius?” he asked calmly. “And may I congratulate you on your inheritance. And the avenging of your love.”
Lucius waved a hand in dismissal and thrust the note into Severus’ hand.
“Hermione left this for me. You were her friend too.”
Severus took the note and his eyes widened at first and then turned dark.
“Is she being literal?” Lucius asked.
“She always seemed to speak the truth in a cryptic way. This seems quite straightforward. What was the mission that took you away from the school for those couple of days with her?”
“To get golden time-turner sand for Dumbledore,” Lucius said as he took the note and went and placed it by the one picture he had found of him and Hermione together.
“Do you know what golden time-turner sand is used for?” Severus asked as his eyes narrowed, and he crossed his arms.
“No,” Lucius said, pursing his lips and rolling his eyes.
“It’s used for forward time-travel,” Severus said tersely before he disappeared from the flames back to his home.
Lucius’ eyes turned dark as he realized she could have, must have made it forward in time.

Hermione felt a bit chilled by the memories as she was lifted out of them. She dropped the vial. It shattered when it hit the stone floor.
She gasped and stooped to try to grasp the memories. But it was like trying to capture clouds; they were gone from her ability to view again. She hissed and jerked her hand back as a sharp piece of glass cut one of her fingers.
She dropped it. The Malfoy crest stared up at her as she shook herself.
She had a meeting at the ministry with the new minister of magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt.

Well, I hope y'all enjoyed this one! I enjoyed writin' it. Hopin' for lots o' reviews.
The song I used is "Pale" by Within Temptation. I'm very fond of the song. I thought that it worked quite well here.
And on an aside! HOORAY KINGSLEY SHACKLEBOLT! I love him in the fifth movie.
"Dumbledore's got style."
