Letter To The Twins

Chapter 2 - Letter To The Twins

I’m glad that you guys liked the first chapter! I’ll update as much as possible. In the meantime, enjoy the next chapter, and please review so I know what you guys think.

~~~
Hermione laid on her bed, staring at the ceiling because she couldn’t sleep. Crookshanks kept moving about her bed on top of her feet. Parvati and Lavender were chattering on about whether Dean or Seamus was hotter. Not to mention, there was some sort or party/riot going on in the boys’ dormitory that was quite noisy. It was a wonder that Professor McGonagall had not put a stop to it yet.
But none of these were the reason she could not sleep. Ever since the idea had entered her head, she had not been able to think of anything else but getting back at that greasy dungeon snake known as Professor Snape. Tomorrow during her potions lesson, she planned to take extensive notes, but not on his lesson. She was going to write down all of the things in his classroom she could sabotage. If she had the opportunity, she might even sneak into his office again and see what she could mess with.
Adrenaline was already rushing through her veins, and she liked it.
Hermione wondered if perhaps she was being too risky. This was getting entirely too fun, but there were other things to consider. After all, if she got caught, the consequences would be too terrible to think about. For starters, there could be Merlin knows how many points taken from Gryffindor. She could be suspended or even expelled. And then there was Snape himself to think about. Oh, she was reasonably sure that he would not actually harm her. Professor Dumbledore would never allow him to do that. But he still was a Slytherin, and any real Slytherin would never let the kinds of things she was plotting go unpunished. Snape would seek vengeance in whatever way he could.
‘But he deserves it!’ she screamed mentally. ‘He’s done nothing but make me and my house mates as miserable as possible!’
With that in mind, she rose from her bed and pulled on her robes. There was no point in trying to sleep; the boys were making too much noise. She walked out of the dormitory and down the stairs.
“Hermione!” called Seamus, who was walking up the stairs. “What are you still doing up?”
“I couldn’t sleep, so I decided to make some progress on a …uhm… project I’ve been working on,” she answered, which was partially true. Then she saw what he was carrying. “Is that undiluted bubotuber pus?” she asked.
Seamus’s face began to turn red. “No…uh…,” he started.
“What on earth are you boys doing up there?” she demanded.
“Just having a little fun,” he said. But then he started to get nervous and asked, “You won’t tell anyone, will you?” She was known as a know-it-all rule-follower.
Hermione considered that for a moment. “Do you need all of that?” she asked Seamus, who looked confused.
“No, I just grabbed whatever was lying around in Sprout’s office,” he admitted.
“Give me half of that pus and I’ll take it to the grave,” she promised. “I’ll even cover for whatever you’re doing if McGonagall starts asking questions. You know she’ll believe me.”
Seamus looked positively stunned. “Why do you need it?” he questioned, suspicion on his face.
“If you don’t ask, I won’t ask,” she assured him.
Seamus was looking as her as if he had never seen her before. Truthfully, Hermione was shaking inside from excitement and fear. This was totally unlike her. But she had had enough of Snape, and was determined to teach him a lesson. Hermione Granger was on a mission.
“Oh…alright then,” he agreed.
She ran up to her dormitory quickly. Throwing her trunk open, she pulled out a charmed bottle that could handle the bubotuber pus, a quill and ink, and a roll of parchment. After returning, Hermione handed the bottle to a still nervous-looking Seamus. He poured half of the pus in the second jar, and then handed it back to her. She smiled almost mischievously at him, and he walked quickly upstairs. His sense of self-preservation was stronger than his curiosity. Seamus did not know what was going on with Hermione, but he was not going to be the first one to find out.
Hermione sat down in the chair closest to the fireplace. Grabbing a book to lean on, she began to write a letter. In order to get the Professor as good as she possibly could, she knew that she would need help. And there were only two people who could help her with this sort of vendetta.
Fred Weasley opened the door to Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, yawning softly.
He and his twin brother were up all night working on a new joke product. They were both reasonably sure that they had finally gotten the formula down, but they still wanted to be cautious with this one. As daring as they both were, this was one prank that they were not willing to test on themselves.
This was probably the worst trick that they had ever come up with. Frankly, the two of them were not sure that they would even be able to pay someone to test it for them. Everyone that they had tried to persuade into it had taken off in the other direction the moment they told them of its properties.
That left tricking someone else into it. Though they had never been afraid of rules or laws before, the fact remained that they were out of school now. That meant that getting caught tampering with someone’s food or drink could possibly get them a stint in Azkaban. If only they were still at Hogwarts…
Out of the corner of his eye, Fred noticed that the mail had come. He grabbed it and walked into the back as he flipped through the letters. His eyes widened when he saw a letter from Hermione.
‘Oh Merlin, what could she be writing to me and George about?’ he asked himself.
Ripping the envelope open, he began to read.
Dear Fred and George,
I know when you read this, you’re going to be suspicious. I just want to assure you that I’m completely serious about this. In fact, I swear on Crookshanks that I am genuine in this request.
Snape has been horrible to everyone for years, which is not news to you. But he crossed the line recently, and I want to get him back. I was hoping that you guys might be able to help me. But I don’t want it to be just some ordinary joke. This has to be something so horrible that he will never forget it, but I do not want to get caught either.
If you two have any ideas, could you please respond as soon as possible? I’m willing to pay whatever you guys want.
Sincerely,
Hermione Granger
The office door opened and George walked in.
“Whose the letter from?” he asked his twin.
Fred’s face twisted into a mischievous smirk.
“What’s up?” he asked, knowing what that smile meant. “What are we doing.
“Well brother, there maybe a way to test our prank, after all,” Fred told him, handing him Hermione’s letter.
After he finished reading it, George’s mouth mirrored his brother’s smile.
Sorry that this was so short, but I want Hermione’s next school day to be all in one chapter. Please review, and I’ll have chapter three up as soon as possible!
