Chapter 2
A/N: First, I want to thank all of my readers, especially the ones who reviewed. I know there weren’t any Draco/Sam moments, but there’s going to be plenty of that later – don’t worry. Second, I would like to tell you that English is not my mother language, so I’m apologizing for the possible grammatical mistakes – I’m trying very hard. Thanks again, enjoy in the chapter and please, please review.
Holding a bag of groceries in one hand and a wand in another, Sam came to the door of her little flat in the middle of London. She tapped the doorknob with her wand and whispered ‘Alohamora!’. The door opened to reveal a small, but comfortable flat. She went straight to the kitchen and put the groceries down. Opening a window in the living room, to breath in a little fresh air, she shrugged her robe off and took off her heels, feeling better already.
That little… situation with Draco was the last thing she needed, so all she wanted to do is eat, relax a little, and sleep. Work was very stressful right now… hell, her life was very stressful right now. It’s just a bad period for me, she thought, it will pass soon.
Changing into something more comfortable, she went to the kitchen and took a glass of vine. Then, she went to her little library and picked her favorite book.
Putting her glass of vine on the table, she sat on the couch in the middle of the room, and opened the book. However, she couldn’t concentrate on the thing she was reading. The event from the elevator was engraved in her head, and it she couldn’t stop thinking about that. Confusion settled deep within her, and there was no way of getting rid of it. Why did he do it? He doesn’t like her, so why would he do it and make things more complicated? And why, in the name of Merlin, didn’t she feel repulsed by him.
Trying hard not to think about it, she took another sip of her vine and put the book on the table. Sighing, she made herself comfortable on the couch and closed her eyes. She was very tired and sleep is the thing she desperately needed.

“You did what?” asked an amused Blaise Zabini, taking a sip of Butterbeer.
“I already told you. I got to know Potter’s girlfriend a little better,” Draco answered, smirking.
Blaise was in Draco’s flat, trying hard to understand the reason behind his friend’s behavior. After Hogwarts the two of them became great friends, and even though they didn’t work together, they still found time to meet each other and share their little adventures.
Right now, Draco was telling Blaise about Sam and the dark haired wizard found that very interesting.
“You are never going to change, are you?” Blaise asked, crossing his arms.
“What? I just wanted to have a little fun,” Draco answered, imitating Blaise’s move.
“I know, but Potter girlfriend? You really don’t want to get into all that,” Blaise answered, taking another sip of Butterbeer.
Draco frowned. “I don’t care what Potter thinks. And, since when do I have to watch out for him? He left her for a Weasley, she’s not with him anymore.”
“Well… are you interested in her?” Blaise asked, smirking.
“Are you mental? I’m not interested in her; I just like to tease her. She been the pain in my butt for two years now, and I finally found a way to shut her bossy, little, know-it-all mouth,” Draco answered angrily.
Blaise thought it was more than that, but he chose not to comment – he really wanted to stay alive for now. They sat in silence for a while, Blaise too busy with the Butterbeer, and Draco too busy thinking. It was obvious he was thinking of some kind of a plan, and you could practically hear the wheels turning in his head. After a couple of minutes Draco smirked evilly, the kind of smirk that tells you something bad is going to happen, and turned to Blaise.
“I got it,” He said, and sat next to Blaise.
“What?” asked Blaise, curious and a little frighten at the same time.
“I know how to turn her world upside down. Not to mention that Potter would die if he finds that his ex girlfriend wants Draco Malfoy,” He replied cockily.
Blaise started laughing, but noticing Draco’s glare stopped immediately. “And why do you think she will fall for your charm?”
Draco smirked and raised an eyebrow. “Oh, believe me,” he said, standing up and coming to a mirror next to the chair. “I know she will.”

“Good Morning Sarah,” Sam said, going into the elevator and smiling brightly. She woke up this morning feeling very well rested, and decided that the events from yesterday should be forgotten.
“Hello Sam, you look great,” answered Sarah, looking her sympathetically. “Is everything Ok?”
“Yes, I feel great, actually,” said Sam, ignoring the murmurs of people around her. Just because Harry and she broke up, doesn’t mean they should go around and whisper behind her back. Those things happened daily and she was sick of it. But, as she promised herself, today will be a perfectly normal day. A day without stressing, swearing, Harry and… Draco.
As soon as she thought about that, the elevator door opened on Draco’s floor and the cold voice said something, but she could barely hear it. Is he going to come into the elevator? She doesn’t have straight to confront him right now. Plus, she really wants to have her day not be ruined.
Couple of people left the elevator, including a very pissed-off looking goblin, but there were no signs of Draco. She exhaled and moved a hand through her hair, already feeling ready to work and get her life back in track.
Coming out of the elevator on her level she exchanged smile with one of her coworkers, and went straight to her table. Even though she was an Auror there weren’t many Dark wizards to catch, so she spent most of her time working on their files in the Ministry.
As soon as she sat in her chair a dreamy voice interrupted the silence. “Hello Samantha,” Luna said, looking her with big, blue eyes. She didn’t change much - even now she had a talent for saying the truth in the most confusing and embarrassing was possible.
“Oh hi, Luna,” Sam answered, taking a folder that was on her desk and opening it on the marked page. “What are you doing here?”
“I was here to visit Dean, so I thought about coming here and seeing you,” she said dreamily, putting her hand in the bag she wore.
“Well, that’s nice of you,” said Sam, smiling. She knew Luna from DA and even though most of the kids in Hogwarts thought she was crazy, Sam always found her interesting and enjoyed spending time with her.
“Are you OK? I know what happened with Harry. Don’t be sad, even though you two are not together you can still be friends,” she said, going through the bag with her hand, obviously looking for something.
“No, I’m fine, really… anyway, I have bigger problems than Harry in my life right now,” said Sam closing the folder, irritated because of everyone’s sympathetic comments. For the love of Merlin, no one died. Just because she broke up with Harry (or was it: Harry broke up with her) doesn’t mean she’s drowning herself in tears day and night.
“What bigger problems?” asked Luna, now using both hand and putting them in her bag.
“Malfoy,” answered Sam, scowling.
“What about him?” Luna asked, empting the contents of her bag on Sam’s desk.
“Oh, it doesn’t matter,” said Sam, waving her hand. She didn’t want to talk about that with Luna, but she couldn’t keep it to herself anymore.
“Well, I think you should tell me. If it’s bothering you, maybe it will be easier if you tell someone about it.”
“Oh…um,” said Sam, looking at what Luna was doing. Even though she was used to these kinds of things, she still found it really weird. But… maybe Luna was right. She could tell her, and when Luna says it’s not important, continue with her life. Plus, Luna not really paying attention – what the hell is she looking for?
“Well… it started yesterday in the elevator…” started Sam, putting her hands on the table. After ten minutes Sam told Luna everything in the smallest details, including her opinion that Draco is an ass for obvious reasons, and the fact that he was born.
“I’ll be right back,” said Luna, finally finding the thing she needed – a jar! Why does she need a bloody jar, when I’m telling her my problems?, thought Sam irritated. “Luna, what are you doi -”
“Shhh,” Luna shushed her, putting her index finger on her lips. “I think a saw a Nargle. I’ll be right back,” she said, unscrewing the jar and disappearing behind the corner.
“A Nargle?” asked Sam confused. “Wait, what’s a … Nargle?” It was too late – Luna was already gone. Well, thought Sam, this was… interesting.
Shaking her head, she found the folder that she was supposed to work on today and opened it. Nott? But, it’s not her assignment, she thought confused, why in the name of Merlin –
“Hey Sam,” said Harry, coming to her table. “Did you see the Nott’s file? I’ve been looking for the bloody thing all morning and,” he stopped when Sam smiled and gave him the folder that was in her hand.
“I just found it,” Sam replied, trying to sound like this friends-thing was Ok with her. Even though she looked like she was fine, her nerves were on the verge of breaking – she still couldn’t act like nothing happened between Harry and her.
“Well, thanks,” said Harry taking the file from her. “How are you, by the way?”
“Oh, I’m great, really. I’ve been very busy and - ”
“I couldn’t catch it. It was too fast,” Luna interrupted Sam, closing the jar disappointedly and coming to the table near Harry. “Oh, hi Harry. What are you doing here?” She asked, putting the jar and the rest of her things back in the bag.
“Luna, hi… well, I came to Sam just to take this folder,” He answered, smiling. “How are things with Dean?”
“They’re great,” said Luna, putting the bag over her shoulders. “Thanks for asking.”
There was a long and uncomfortable silence, where Sam was fondling with the paper on her table, Harry was looking at his hands and mumbling something and Luna looking around… probably for Nargles.
“Well, I should go… and Sam, don’t worry about that Malfoy boy, maybe he likes you,” said Luna and smiled. Sam groaned. Why do these things happen to me?! And why was Luna listening to me, in the first place. Stupid Nargles… where are they when you need them!?
“Malfoy?” asked Harry, looking between Sam and Luna. “What about Malfoy?”
“Nothing, Harry - ”
“That Malfoy boy was trying to kiss her in the elevator,” answered Luna, interrupting Sam.
“What!?” asked Harry, and his eyes became dark with rage.
“No, he didn’t - ”
“I think it is because he likes her,” said Luna dreamily. “And maybe you’ll like him. He is very handsome… plus, you and Harry are not together anymore. Nothing is stopping you to be with him. Anyway, I have to go now. I’ll come here tomorrow and maybe we’ll see each other then.” With this she waved at them, and went behind the corner towards the elevator.
Sam put her head in her hands. That be-in-a-good-mood thing was very hard when things like this happen. Sighing, Sam lifted her head and looked at Harry. He looked very angry.
Life loves me – thought Sam. Like, really – it adores me. It would be cruel of it to rob me of such an awkward experience, right? Thanks, Life – I appreciate it. Kudos for timing, too.
“Look, Harry... it didn’t - “
“No, it’s alright,“ he said, clenching the folder in his hand. “I don’t care what you do with your life, anymore. And I have my own... with Ginny,“ he commented quickly. After a long and not very comfortable silence, he cleaned his throat and said, “Well, thanks for this. I... I should be going now.“
„Um... Ok,“ said Sam, insecurely. Why do these things always happen to her?
With this, Harry turned on his heels and left the room, leaving Sam in a not-very-nice mood.
This day is going to be a hell on earth.
