chapter 2

*CHAPTER 2*

Fenrir looked down at the young boy passed out in front of him. As a werewolf, he had excellent senses, so he could actually see the boy while it was still dark. He could smell the old and new blood on the boy and couldn’t help but wonder where he had come from. Fenrir decided that he could find out later, but as the sun was coming up, he had to move to a safer part of the forest.

He lifted the boy and was surprised at how light he felt. Judging by the boy’s stature, Fenrir figured he was around twelve or thirteen and could tell that he had been severely abused before running into the forest. After a short time, Fenrir made it to the cave that had become his den and relieved himself of his burden onto the pile of bed furs. He didn’t really expect his unexpected guest to wake up anytime soon, so he moved about the cave in preparation of taking care of a possible invalid when the boy woke.

When all preparations were made, Fenrir decided to catch a little sleep while he could, and so snuggled into the bed furs with the boy and drifted off. A short time later he was woken up by the thrashing of his bedmate. Acting without really thinking, Fenrir took the terrified boy in his arms and began to hum a lullaby that he remembered his mother singing to him when he was a cub. That seemed to calm the boy down and they both settled back into a peaceful sleep.

Fenrir woke to the sun shining into the cave and got up to begin his morning routine. He came back into the cave and looked at the still sleeping boy and knew that it was time to start cleaning him up. He removed what little clothing the boy had on and blanched at the sight of the numerous wounds on his body. He had burns and lacerations from a whip and a knife. Most of the bones were broken in both hands and wrists, as well as marks from being chained, most likely to a wall.

Fenrir knew that there were some internal injuries from most of the bruising on his torso as well as on his throat above his vocal chords. He knew he wouldn’t be able to heal this by himself, so he called in some reinforcements. Lord Voldemort’s own resident potions master, Severus Snape.
