Fae Princess

The adults in the room kept their voices low so the twin girls across the room didn't get upset. "Atar(1), they're not going with you," A woman with deep red hair insisted.

The man standing opposite her was a tall lanky man, much like his daughter, but with pure white hair and beard. "Now, Holly...."

"Ercassiel(2)! How many times are you going to make me correct you?" Instantly, she was angry with her father.

"Ercassiel, I think that what your father is trying to say is that it would be wise for the girls to have a well balanced education when it comes to magic. After all, you were educated there and look at how helpful it has been for you," Her husband, a tall blond man, spoke before his father-in-law could.

"You think this is a good idea, Beriadan(3)?" She asked, looking over at the twin girls.

"Very much so, mela(4)," Was his answer.

After a few minutes of staring at her daughters, Ercassiel looked back at her father. "Very well, Atar, they can come to Hogwarts with you," She agreed. "I'll go and tell them," She left her husband and father and walked to her girls.

"Thank you, Beriadan, for your support," The old man smiled at his son-in-law.

"Of course, Glandur(5). The girls need this anyway, and I know they both love the castle. Melda(6) more so than Ellethwen(7) I think," Beriadan returned the smile.

Over on the other side of the room, Ercassiel sat beside her daughters. "Melda, Ellethwen, you're atar and I have decided that you are to go with your grandfather to Hogwarts. You will learn your magic there, just as I learned mine. And you will have to be known by your human names there, my girls, understand?"

"Atara (8)! We can't do that! We are Fae Princesses, we belong here," Ellethwen, the youngest of the twins by 13 minutes, insisted.

"You must, Ellethwen. It is what is best for our people."

Melda was thrilled. When she'd been allowed to visit her grandfather at Hogwarts, she'd come to love the castle and grounds. "Sev won't be there though, will he, grandfather?" Melda directed her question to the old man. When she was four years old, Melda had become friends with one of the students at school, Severus Snape, who was in his 5th year. The young man had watched her wandering around the lake while Ellethwen sat under a tree. The twins had always wandered off on their own, but Severus didn't know that. Every time Melda came to Hogwarts after that, he would entertain her and sometimes Ellethwen.

"He will, actually. He became a teacher for me four years ago."

"Yay! When can we go?" Melda looked to her mother.

"As soon as you're packed I suppose," Melda, Ivory as she would be known in school now, jumped up, hugged both of her parents and grandfather, and ran to her room to begin packing.

"I still don't think we should be doing this," Ellethwen, Ebony to wizards and witches, declared, standing and following her sister, he wings flaring behind her.

As soon as she'd put her trunk away, Ivory ran to Severus' quarters in the dungeons. "I still don't understand why you like dungeons, Sevie," She used the nickname she'd given him when she was little.

"Melda?" He turned to find the Fae in his doorway.

"You were expecting Ellethwen?" She asked, trying, and failing, to imitate the way he lifted his eyebrow. He held out his arms and she ran into his embrace. "I missed you, Sev," She declared.

"And I missed you, Princess," Normally she hated it when people called her that but with Severus it was okay. Partially because she was his Princess and partly because she'd known him so long.

"Guess what?" She asked, bouncing on the balls of her feet after he let her go.

"What?"

"You have ta call me and Ellethwen, Ivory and Ebony now."

"Why?"

"'Cause, silly, we're students here now. Or will be in a couple weeks anyway. But Atara says that we have to use our human names here, like you do, Naracion(9)," She used his Elven name. Severus, though he rarely went to the Fae kingdom, was half Fae from his father's side.

"You're a student here?"

"Yep," She smiled happily and he returned it.

Two weeks later, Severus and Albus waited impatiently for Ivory and Ebony to be Sorted. Professor McGonagall called Ebony first, of course.

"Miriel, Ebony!"

The Hat was motionless on her head for all of 10 seconds. "SLYTHERIN!" The Slytherins applauded their newest house mate.

"Miriel, Ivory!"

Ivory sat on the stool as the Hat was placed on her head. *Hm, very different from your sister. You both share the same out spoken tendances, but Slytherin is not for you. Where to put you?* Knowing that the Hat didn't mean for her to answer, she waited while it reached a decision. "GRYFFINDOR!" The Hall was silent as Ivory took the Hat off of her head. Twins in opposite houses? It was unheard of as far as any of them knew.

Surprisingly, her grandfather was not the first to start clapping for her. Severus was. Ivory flashed him a quick smile as the Gryffindor table started clapping as well.

She took her seat beside a redhaired boy who was obviously waiting for someone to be Sorted. He flashed her a quick smile as she sat down then returned his eyes to one of the first years still in line.

"Weasley, Charlie!" Was the last first year to be Sorted and seemed to be who the kid next to Ivory was waiting for. When the Hat announced his House, Gryffindor, he broke into a huge grin before clapping. Charlie sat on Ivory's other side, though he high-fived the guy sitting beside her.

As the Feast began, the boy who was Sorted turned to Ivory. "Hi. I'm Charlie Weasley. That's my brother, Bill," He introduced himself and the kid sitting next to Ivory.

"Hi, I'm Ivory Miriel. Ebony is clear across the Hall otherwise I'd introduce her too," Ivory smiled. Charlie returned the smile.

"I didn't see you on the train," Charlie stated.

"That's because I wasn't on it. The Headmaster is mine and Ebony's grandfather," Ivory answered.

"Oh," Charlie and Ivory spent most of the Feast talking to each other. Occasionally Bill would add something to their conversation.

That summer, and every one after it, Ivory visited Charlie and Bill at their home, the Burrow, as often as she was able. She and Charlie had become practically inseperable. They'd both become very good friends with another girl in their year, Nymphadora Tonks. She had told her three closest friends the truth about her in their 4th year, Bill's 6th year. Ivory had translated Charlie, Bill, and Nymphadora's names into Elvish and usually called them by those names and they called her Melda. Their names were Niracas, Mirimo, and Onnedhiel(10).

Ivory met Bill and Charlie's younger brothers, Percy and the twins, Fred and George, when they started Hogwarts in her 3rd and 5th years. Percy was entirely too uptight for her to even talk to most days, but the twins constantly made her laugh. The entire Weasley family knew the truth about her. Ginny, the youngest and only girl, was thrilled to know an actual Princess. Percy tended to steer clear of her after that. She called each of the Weasley's by their Elven names, after she translated them. Sidhenidon, Eredhion, Balanidhren, Rodwen, Saerwen, and Arbellason(11) were thrilled to have their own Elven names.

She also remained good friends with Severus, even though she was a Gryffindor. She was the only Gryffindor to never get detention from him, as far as anyone could tell. She completely dropped out of History of Magic when it became apparent that the ghost, Binns, was only going to talk about goblin wars.

Every weekend during school, she and Ebony practiced their Fae magic with their grandfather. This meant learning to commune with the natural elements around them and learning how to bend them to suit their purposes. Both girls also had their own unique gifts. Ebony could speak to any creature, including humans, in it's native tongue. This meant that Ebony knew virtually every language on the face of the planet. Ivory could transform into any animal. This included Merpeople and Centaurs, as they prefered to be classified as Beasts instead of Beings. Their wings also came out on their 16th birthday. They looked kind of like butterfly wings, according to Charlie. Their grandfather taught them to hide those as well.

Bill graduated after Ivory, Charlie, and Nymphadora's 5th year. There was a wonderful party held for him at the Burrow before he left for Eygpt. He had decided to become a Curse Breaker for Gringotts.

Now the trio of friends were Yule shopping together in their 7th and final year.

Relax, I won't use EVERYONE'S Elven names all the time. Just sometimes, except Charlie and Tonks. I'll use theirs more often. But I will do my best to make it clear who I'm talking about.

Timeline note, Sev's 5th year was began in 1975. Ivory and Ebony were born in the beginning of 1972. Thus, in the beginning of 1976 (end of Sev's 5th year), they were 4. Severus is 12 years older than them. The twins start Hogwarts in 1984. Harry, as a reference point, is 3 in 1984.

Just a fun fact, the reason I used my sister's name and not my own for Ivory is because Ivory is older than Ebony and Amanda is older than me. Until next time! -Cora
