Chapter Two

Hours later, Draco woke up to an angered shout. He sat up on the bed, rubbing his eyes to see more clearly. As soon as his eyes had focused, however, Draco almost wished he hadn’t bothered.

He was surrounded on all sides by the people who hated him the most. To his left was Ronald Weasley. To his right, Ginny Weasley. Straight ahead stood Hermione Granger. All had their wands pointed directly at Draco’s head.

“If it isn’t Death Eater Junior.” Ron sneered. “Came to kill Harry for your Dark Lord?”

“No. It’s none of your business why I’m here. Where’s Harry?”

“You really think we would let you see Harry? After what you did to him?”

Draco\'s grey eyes went wide. “What I did to him?”

“You turned him into a fucking faggot!” Ron screamed.

Draco recoiled, scrambling away towards the headboard. “I…I…” He shook his head.

Ron stalked forwards and hauled the blond off the bed by his long blond hair.

Draco yelped. “OUCH! Release me, Weasley!”

The redheaded boy dropped the blond on the floor and kicked him, delivering a blow to his victims’ leg. “What happened to calling me a blood-traitor Malfoy?”

Draco shook his head. “I no longer share my father’s ideals.”

“Yeah right.” Ginny quipped. She laughed.

Hermione looked doubtful, but watched the two Weasley’s and did nothing to help the blond man on the floor.

“You’re going straight to Azkaban, Draco. That’s where you belong.”

“NO! Not Azkaban…please not there! I can’t go there or…” He faded out as he realized telling these three about his pregnancy would be asking to lose his baby then and there.

“Or what, Malfoy?” Ron growled.

Draco shook his head, blinking back tears. “Nothing. It’s nothing.” Maybe he could tell the guards in Azkaban, and maybe they would help him get ahold of Harry. It would be a long shot, but at least it would be more likely then the chances of leaving Hogwarts alive with his child still safely inside of him.

Ron and Ginny eventually left the room, with the intent of finding someone to help transport him to Azkaban. Draco was left alone with Hermione, who at least allowed him to climb back up on the bed and curl up in the covers.

“Why are you really here, Draco?”

“I came to see Harry. Where is he? Could you send for him? Take me too him? It’s really important that I tell him something.”

“He’s not here. He left to see the Minister of Magic about something. He won’t be back for a while.”

Draco’s head lowered; he tightened the blankets closer around his middle, hugging himself protectively.

Hermione noticed the signals. And she remembered what Harry had told her.

“You’re pregnant with his baby, aren’t you?”

Draco’s grey eyes shot up to meet the young witch\'s brown ones. “You’re not going to tell, are you?”

“I won’t tell Ron or Ginny if that’s what you mean. They think it’s sick that Harry is gay, but I saw him the night after you two were together, before you left. He was actually happy. And the day you left, he was sadder then I had seen him in a very long time." She sighed.

“He wanted to ask you to stay with him, but he didn’t think you would agree. Something about having loyalty to your family…he understood that. But he missed…misses you.”

“He does?” Draco asked, his eyes wide with hope. “I miss him too.” He wiped his eyes to stop the flow of tears that had started and then continued. “I abandoned my father and my family’s honor to find Harry. I hoped he could protect me, but…he isn’t here.”

Hermione nodded, her eyes darkening with feeling for the young blond man. “I doubt you’ll get any sympathy in Azkaban, Draco. As the son of a death eater, and a carrier of the dark mark,” she gestured to the mark just visible on Draco’s arm, “you’ll be lucky not to get sentenced to the Kiss.”

Draco nodded. “It would only get worse if the Wizarding world finds out I turned their Savior gay.”

Hermione suppressed a laugh. “You didn’t turn him gay, Draco. He was lusting after you for years before you and he got together that first time.”

Draco smiled a genuine smile. “Really?”

She nodded.

“Thanks, Granger. I’m glad Harry has at least one sane friend.”

Hermione laughed. “Ron and Ginny are sane; they just are trying to protect Harry in their own ways. Ron thinks it’s for the best if Harry learns to grow out of his ‘gayness’. Harry told him many times that he loves you, and that nothing will change his mind – but Ron doesn’t want to hear that, and he won’t give up trying to change Harry. Ginny…well, Ginny has a crush on Harry, but sees nothing wrong with the fact that while she tries to convince Harry that she is his one true love, she sleeps with others. She’s a total hypocrite, but Harry loves her in his own way…more like a sister, but still.”

Draco nodded absently. “Would you do me a favor, Granger?”

“If I can…I will.”

“Tell Harry I need to see him. Even if I’m in Azkaban…tell him to come see me? If I don’t survive the birth of my child, I want Harry to know that he or she exists. I want Harry to take care of my child, if I’m not there to do it.”

“I think Harry deserves that much. I’ll tell him.”

Draco thanked her quietly and then lay down on the bed, pulling the soft covers up to soak up his tears. With Hermione Granger as sole witness to his heartbreak, Draco cried himself to sleep.
