Samhain Ball

A/N: Okay, so this is out earlier than either of us expected but one of my professors is sick and called off class today, so I have time to type. I believe Ivory told you that I'll be jumping to 6th year, right? Here we go! ~Ice

"Scorpius! Wait up!" I hurried after my blonde friend. "Where's Al?"

"He's on that date with Samantha today, remember?" Okay, he's got to be jealous I thought.

"What's your issue with Sammi? She's good looking and a Slytherin. One would think you'd be happy for one of your best mates."

"She's not Al's type, is all."

"Is that so? And what, dear Scorp, is Al's type?" I raised my pierced eyebrow. My parents still don't know I have it because I keep my right eyebrow under a glamour over summer vacation.

"It's.... Well, it's not Samantha."

"Well, you're going to have to get over it, my friend. He thinks she is his type." I started walking in front of him, steadily leading him away from most of the school.

"What is that supposed to mean, Rosie?"

"I mean, I think he really likes her. And I know she really likes him."

"She's just a gold-digging whore. Of course she likes him!" Now he was angry as well. Interesting.

"Scorpius, mind telling me exactly why you're so upset by Al liking this girl?"

"I just told you. She's after his money and name. That's all." He started pacing.

"Really? Because I don't think that's everything." He didn't acknowledge me. "Want to know what I think? I think you're jealous."

"Me? Jealous of Albus?"

"No Scorpius. Jealous of Samantha. She's out there right now, having a nice picnic by the lake with Albus. Look." I nodded out the window that faced the lake. From the second floor window, we could clearly see Samantha's long, dyed green hair.

Scorpius slumped against the window frame. "I love him, Rose. Actually completely, irrevocably, l-o-v-e love my best mate. Aside from you, of course."

"Of course. And I know. I just had to get you to admit it. Now, what exactly do you plan to do about it?" I demanded.

"Do? I can't do anything, Rosie. It would completely ruin our friendship. Besides, it would leave you as a third wheel, and feeling left out."

"First, I can handle being a third wheel, my friend. Besides, I know you and Albus wouldn't ditch me because your relationship changed. And I'm not so sure it would ruin your friendship." I paused. "I have an idea though, to see if it will."

He turned to face me, hopeful. "What is it?"

"Take me to the Samhain Ball in two weeks." I answered simply.

"How will that help?"

"So I can see if Al gets as jealous of me as you are of Sammi right now." I explained. "If he does, you ask him out. If not, I'll let you pine in peace, okay?"

"I guess it couldn't really hurt anything." He agreed finally.

"Good. Now, what are we wearing to the Ball?" I linked my arm through his and steered him away from the window.

He laughed. "Let me write to my grandmother and see what she suggests." He smiled down at me. Scorpius and Albus are both taller than me, not that I'm short mind you. The only thing short about me is my hair, which comes down to just past my ears. Scorpius and Albus both have longer hair than me as well. Both of their hair comes down to just past their shoulders. But ti works for them both. Al's hair is no where near as messy looking as his father's or his brother James'.

Like I said though, I'm not short. I'm 5'10". They're both just huge. Scorp's 6'3" and Al's an inch shorter. And apparently they're not even done growing yet. Evil bastards.

Albus came inside from his date a couple hours later. "Have a good time with Sammi then?" I asked, smiling.

"Yep. We're going to the Samhain Ball together." He answered.

"Oh good. I was hoping that was so. Now you won't be a third wheel. Scorp asked me to go with him." I grinned.

"You did?" He turned to Scorpius.

"Well yeah. Does that bother you?"

"N...No. Why should it?"

Two days later, I got a package in my dorm after dinner.

Rose Weasley,
This is Scorpius' grandmother. I bought this dress to match Scorpius' dress robes for the Samhain Ball this month. I do hope you like it.
~Narcissa Malfoy

I loved it and wrote back to tell her so. It was a spaghetti strap dress that pooled down at my feet. It started out light blue and slowly faded to black at the very bottom. The tie belt around the waist was broze. She knows I'm a Ravenclaw. I thought to myself.

I had taken ballroom dancing lessons, and still was, as had Scorpius so this Ball thing would be no big deal for either of us. It would be a perfect chance for me to watch Albus.

Unfortunatly, I didn't count on not actually being able to see Albus while twirling around on the dance floor. Everytime Scorpius and I sat down, Al and Sammi got up. Halfway through the Ball, I excused myself and went out front to cool down. Sammi followed shortly after me.

"What did you two do to him?" She demanded.

"We didn't do anything. Why?"

"He's been glaring daggers at you both all night. That or he gets this far away look and sappy smile. I don't get it."

"YES!" I shouted. "I'm sorry to tell you this, Sammi, but Al is currently increadibly jealous of me because I''m here with Scorpius and...."

"...he's not. I figured as much. I assume you have a plan?"

Slowly a grin spread over my face. "Would you like to dance with me, Samantha? I'll lead." I asked.

She smirked and took the arm I offered her. "I'd love to." The two of us walked back inside and headed for the dance floor.

On our way, we passed the boys. 'Do it.' I mouthed to Scorpius.

"What was that?" Sammi asked as we twirled around the dance floor.

"I told Scorpius that when I found out that Al was just as jealous of me as he was of you, he had to ask him out." I shrugged with one shoulder.

"Very nice." She paused. "Aren't you worried people will think you're a lesbian?" She asked.

"Nope. I'm bi anyway. Aren't you?"

"I'm far too comfortable with my own sexuality to be concerned with that." She said with that slightly superior tone of voice every Slytherin manages to have.

"Guess that's a no, then." I dipped her. The song ended and we went back over to the boys. "So, how are you guys?"

"That was a dirty trick, Rosie." Al stated.

"Yeah, but it worked, didn't it?" I smirked at him.

"Well, yeah. But that's not the point."

"Yes it is." Sammi answered first. Al opened his mouth to say something else. "Nope, don't wanna hear it. You're wrong, Rosie's right. Live with it. Rose, you are a wonderful dancer, but now, I'm off." She gave me an overly-dramatic stage bow and I gave her one right back.

"You are nuts." Scorpius stated.

"Probably." I nodded. "Come on then, dance with me." I grabbed Al's arm and pulled him out onto the dance floor with me. Halfway through the song, Scorpius came over and took my place. I went back to the table with a smile on my face, happy for my boys.

A/N: Well, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter! I know it was kinda fast, Scorpius and Al getting together, but that's not exactly the main focus of the story. Their relationship is one of them, of course, but actually getting together is not. I mean, they're not Draco and Harry, they're already friends, after all. I'm not sure when Ivory'll have time to update the next chapter. Hopefully soon. Also, for those who don't know Samhain (pronounced Sow'wen) is the Pagan new year. It's Holloween. And could you please please please review so we know what you think? Please? Until we meet again! ~Ice
